Awqaf Minister thanks President Sisi for supporting mosques, religious sites
He made these remarks during the inauguration of the first phase of development at the Al-Arif Billah Sidi Ibrahim al-Desouki Mosque in Desouk, Kafr al-Sheikh, in northern Egypt.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kafr al-Sheikh Governor Alaa Abdel Moaati, Egypt's Mufti Nazir Ayyad, Al-Azhar University President Dr. Salama Dawood, and other officials. This initiative is part of the Awqaf (Endowments) Ministry's plan to upgrade major mosques and religious sites, enhancing their cultural and service standards.
The minister and his accompanying delegation performed Friday prayers at the mosque, where Imam Mohamed Soheil delivered a sermon titled 'Unity is Strength,' emphasizing community cohesion, unity, and love. The prayer was followed by a remembrance gathering and prayers for Egypt and the Arab and other Islamic nations, in an atmosphere of devotion and tranquility.
Kafr El-Sheikh's Governor praised the visit, highlighting the state's ongoing support for religious sites. Dr. Dawood commended the Awqaf Ministry's leadership in caring for Ahl Al-Bayt mosques that are historically associated with or named after the family of the Prophet Muhammad.
The first phase of the site's development, covering 5,000 square meters at a cost of six million LE, is now complete. It included the installation of granite and marble flooring, a central fountain, landscaping, parking facilities, visitor seating, and aesthetic protective fencing. The second phase will commence immediately to finalize the project.
After the inauguration ceremony, the minister viewed a visual presentation of the development stages and encouraged sharing the documentary on the ministry's official channels, praising the efforts of those involved.

The new system will be adopted as a pilot model within a well-studied, integrated approach aimed at assessing the institutional and technical impact of this initiative on the federation's performance and its ability to achieve its goals. This includes evaluating decision-making efficiency, diversity of expertise, speed of initiative implementation, as well as internal governance effectiveness. Based on the outcomes of this experience, a comprehensive analysis will be conducted to help shape future policies for the development of board formation mechanisms across other federations. The approach may be gradually generalised depending on the extent to which the intended objectives are achieved, in alignment with the principles of professionalism, sustainability, and inclusivity within the sports sector. The Ministry considers the inclusion of resident members in the boards of sports federations as a practical embodiment of the values of openness, tolerance, and diversity. This inclusion enhances the contribution of the residents to sports development by harnessing their expertise and talents, further reinforcing the role of sports as a national tool for development, social integration, and empowerment. This experience also highlights the need to integrate elite talents into sports leadership, particularly in specialised areas such as sports marketing, strategic planning, technical analysis, and the adoption of modern technologies. The Ministry believes that involving members with advanced expertise serves as an institutional enabler for achieving performance excellence. This step aligns with the Ministry's vision to develop the administrative structure of sports federations and instate qualified professionals capable of transforming these entities into pioneering institutions characterised by responsible decision-making, agility, and innovation. This initiative highlights the Ministry's efforts to instil a robust governance culture as the guiding framework for all institutional processes within the sports sector. Moreover, the adoption of the electoral list system is considered a significant organisational advancement, reinforcing the commitment of sports bodies to the principles of integrity, transparency, specialisation, and administrative integration. The Ministry views governance not merely as a regulatory tool, but as a comprehensive approach that supports the development of stronger partnerships with all sports institutions. It helps foster a collaborative working environment and contributes to empowering these entities by enhancing their ability to identify talent, increase the number of active sports participants, and improve overall sports performance efficiency. Under the patronage of Egypt's Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports attended the opening of the Forum's fourth edition, held at Cairo University Theatre The fourth edition of the Youth Knowledge Forum (YKF)، titled 'Knowledge Economy and Human Development,' commenced at the Cairo University Theatre, garnering wide participation both regionally and internationally. It is being organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Egypt's Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) through the Youth Knowledge Office, under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports, along with several other ministers and senior officials, including Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population; Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture; and Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs. El-Sisi reviews key AOI projects in civilian and defence industries
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Monday followed up on the progress of implementing key activities and projects at factories and companies affiliated with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) in the fields of civil and defence industries. In a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of AOI Major General Mokhtar Abdel-Latif, El-Sisi was briefed on AOI's strategic framework focusing on enhancing local manufacturing, localizing modern technology, and partnering with leading local, Arab, and global companies to transfer expertise and develop national industries, thereby strengthening Egypt's position as a leading regional industrial power. Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that this strategy is pursued through several principal axes, including modernizing production lines in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution to enhance manufacturing and technological capacities. It also includes qualifying and training human resources to keep pace with rapid technological changes, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency, and supporting technical research in collaboration with research institutions. The strategy also focuses on deepening military industries manufacturing to meet the demands of the armed forces and export markets. It introduces new industries to cater to the needs and demands of both local and foreign markets. The official spokesperson noted that the meeting reviewed the developments in the civil industries undertaken by the organization, including transportation means, electronics, manufacturing of telecommunications towers and high-voltage electricity towers, design and manufacture of water pumps and sewage systems, water and sewage treatment plants, manufacturing of pipes for water, sewage, and natural gas, clean energy, wood industries, and medical industries. In this context, Abdel Latif mentioned that starting this year, in cooperation with the global Stellantis Group, production of the Citroën C4X car has begun on the production lines of the Arab American Vehicles (AAV) company, targeting an annual production rate of 7,000 vehicles and a total of 28,000 cars over four years. He added that the organization has also begun production of the new Jeep Cherokee, starting in September 2024, at an annual rate of 1,500 cars, and the Toyota Fortuner 4x4, at an annual rate of 1,200 vehicles. He explained that the organization is working on expanding local manufacturing of transportation means and, in the field of electronics, aims to add new production lines for laptops, tablets, mobile phones, prepaid electricity meters, and routers. The spokesperson also said that the Chairman reviewed the organization's efforts in the field of clean energy, particularly in producing solar panels using the latest technologies, including a project to establish a solar power plant connected to the government grid in Uganda, as part of the Egyptian initiative for Nile Basin countries. The Chairman also reviewed the most important new civil projects the organization is implementing, as well as the development of e-marketing tools and mechanisms within the organization in cooperation with specialized entities to promote products and services and expand the customer base through innovative digital platforms that align with market trends locally, regionally, and the requirements of digital transformation. He also reviewed the efforts made by the organization to qualify human resources through the Arab Institute for Advanced Technology, the AOI Academy for Engineering Training, the Helwan Academy for Technical Education, the Technical Secondary School for Dual Education and Training, and the Welding Academy in Helwan in cooperation with the International Institute of Welding in Italy. The spokesperson added that the President commended the organization's efforts in various fields. El-Sisi stressed the need to continue its endeavours aimed at increasing production and reducing prices to achieve competitiveness, deepen local manufacturing, localise advanced technology, and develop local supply chains to ensure the production of components with global quality and reduce reliance on imports, especially in vital sectors. The President also emphasized the importance of continuing ongoing coordination and fruitful, constructive integration between ministries, the private sector, and various Egyptian industrial bodies to achieve industrial harmony and optimize the exploitation of national manufacturing capabilities.
