Who is Vaughn Karvala? Xavier hosting 4-star, Class of 2026 forward on Wednesday
Xavier men's basketball is looking for its first commit from the Class of 2026 and one of its top targets will be on campus Wednesday, June 25.
According to Sam Kayser, Vaughn Karvala will take an official visit to Xavier on Wednesday.

Karvala began his prep career at Oregon High School in Oregon, Wisconsin before announcing his decision to transfer to Bella Vista College Preparatory in Arizona earlier this month.
Tabbed by 247Sports as a four-star recruit, Karvala heads to Scottsdale as a top 10 player in Arizona and a top 20 small forward in the nation in the Class of 2026. He is the No. 62 overall player in the ESPN100 Rankings.
Karvala was offered by Xavier in May and recently competed in the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The 6-foot-6 prospect also holds offers from Arizona State, Iowa, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Marquette and Wisconsin.
Xavier men's basketball offered Columbus Academy's Jason Singleton (5) earlier this summer.
In early-June, Xavier also offered a pair of 2026 in-state recruits in Columbus Academy's Jason Singleton and Margaretta High School standout Julian Washington.

Washington is currently unranked by 247Sports and holds additional offers from Miami, Akron, Ohio University, Kent State, Indiana State and others. He was a first-team All-Ohio selection last season in Division V.
Singleton, whose father helped lead Ohio State to the Final Four in 1999, is tabbed as the No. 5 player in Ohio for the Class of 2026.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard was named third-team All-Ohio in Division V. He helped lead Columbus Academy to a 28-1 season that included the program's first trip to the state finals since 1981. Columbus Academy finished as the state runner-up.

Shifting to winter and spring, Alabama's men's and women's basketball teams then both made NCAA Tournament appearances once again, with the former coming one win shy of a return trip to the Final Four. The same can also be said for Alabama's baseball and softball teams, as both made the NCAA Tournament following strong regular seasons. Looking elsewhere at other sports as well, Alabama saw success there also, headlined by crowning individual national champions in track and field. Grouping all of those same sports together as well, just who were some of Alabama's greatest athletes during the 2024-25 school year? Here is a ranking of the Top 15 overall Alabama athletes from the 2024-25 school year, regardless of sport, starting with a few honorable mentions. HM. Zaay Green, Forward - Women's Basketball Green's first, and only, season at Alabama was a big one in 2024-25 where the forward averaged 15.7 points, five rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game across 33 games, while also shooting 46.7% from the field, 36.1% from three, and 65.4% at the free throw line. Green was also a third round pick in the 2025 WNBA draft. HM. Aaliyah Nye, Guard - Women's Basketball Nye started all 33 games for the Alabama women's basketball program in which she averaged 15.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, as well as 83% at the free throw line. The Alabama guard also led the SEC with a 45.5 three-point percentage, and was a second round pick in the 2025 WNBA draft. HM. The freshman outfielder also received First Team All-SEC honors. 9. Grant Nelson, Forward - Men's Basketball Nelson put the finishing touches on his Alabama basketball career in 2024-25 by averaging 11.5 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game on 52.2% shooting from the field, along with 25.8% from three and 66.7% at the free throw line. Starting in 34-of-37 games, Nelson also led the Crimson Tide with 7.6 rebounds per game. 8. Sarah Ashlee Barker, Guard - Women's Basketball Barker was the top scorer for Alabama's women's basketball team this past season, averaging a career-high 18.2 points for the Crimson Tide along with 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and two steals per game on 51.4% shooting from the field to earn First Team All-SEC honors. The senior was also selected in the first round of the 2025 WNBA draft, and delivered one of Alabama's greatest single-game performances of the year. 7. Tyler Booker, Offensive Guard - Football A team captain for the Crimson Tide, Booker anchored Alabama's offensive line this past season at left guard where he allowed only 0.5 sacks with a team-high 92 knockdown blocks. Booker also received honors such as All-America and First Team All-SEC, and was a first round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. 6. Justin Lebron, Shortstop - Baseball The highest-ranking member of Alabama's baseball team, Lebron enjoyed a stellar sophomore season in 2025 that included a slash line of .316/.421/.636 with 18 home runs, 17 stolen bases, and a team-leading 72 RBI while starting all 59 games. As a result, Lebron received honors that included Second Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team. 5. Jihaad Campbell, Inside Linebacker - Football Campbell enjoyed a career-year as a junior this past fall for the Crimson Tide, leading Alabama with a team-high 117 tackles, along with 12 TFL, five sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles. At season's end, Campbell racked up honors that included First Team All-SEC and Second Team All-America, while also a first round selection in the 2025 NFL draft. 4. Ryan Williams, Wide Receiver - Football Williams took the Alabama football world by storm during the 2024 season as a true freshman after reclassifying, as the former five-star hauled in a combined 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns during his first sample size of collegiate action. Also rushing for two touchdowns, as well as making an impact on special teams, Williams ended his inaugural season at Alabama with numerous honors that featured Freshman All-America and First Team All-SEC. 3. Sears also shot 34.5% from three-point range, as well as 84.4% at the free throw line, while starting all 37 games, and racked up many honors along the way that included consensus All-America, Wooden Award finalist, and First Team All-SEC. 1. LSU football closing in on adding five-star defensive end to 2026 recruiting class
LSU football is closing in on a five-star recruit. According to a report from On3/Rivals, LSU is the favorite for the services of EDGE Trenton Henderson, a native of Pensacola, Florida. The report states LSU's biggest competition is Florida and Texas. Henderson took official visits to all three schools this Summer. 247Sports labels Henderson a five-star, slotting him as the No. 4-ranked EDGE in the country. He's 247's No. 28 overall recruit. The On3 Industry Rankings slot Henderson No. 59 overall and No. 11 at his position. The Tigers have yet to add a pass rusher to the 2026 group, meaning Henderson would fill a key need. "Sprouting linebacker that can get after the quarterback as he comes screaming around the corner. Size has not been third-party verified, but is believed to be over 6-foot-4 and tipping the scales right around 225 pounds. Took a major step forward between sophomore and junior seasons – evoking much more confidence and physicality," wrote 247Sports' Director of Scouting Andrew Irvins.
