Tips for staying cool in hot weather without air con
However, the good news is that you don't need to break the bank if you want to stay cool, and there's no reason to join a mad dash to order an expensive air conditioning unit that'll take ages to get fitted, just for a few weeks.
There are plenty of easy ways to keep cool during a heatwave both day and night, that are well within budget (and sometimes even free). For example, Yimbly has a range of portable air con units and budget-friendly fans with plenty of options under £50.
Check out our top tips for how to stay cool during a heatwave below...
As you're only cooling down the rooms you're actively using, these fans can be an effective way to stay cool. There are plenty of fans to suit every budget out there, with different modes and even timers if you want to help cool the room while you're sleeping. Some of our current picks include:
Arctic Air Outdoor Mister & Fan from £59.99
Living and Home 2 In 1 Air Cooler And Heater for £86
Midea SmartAir Cool + Purify Bladeless Fan for £149.99
These can block out the sunlight and therefore help to reduce temperatures indoors.
It may sound counterproductive, but keeping windows closed when it's hot outside actually keeps that heat out. However, make sure to open them in the evening when it's cooler, as you'll benefit from the air flow.
This creates a natural breeze that flows through your home thanks to the cross-ventilation.
A simple parasol placed strategically can shade windows and outdoor seating areas, stopping your home from becoming a greenhouse in disguise. Currently, Yimbly has a Living and Home 3M Large Banana Cantilever Patio Parasol for £52.50 which is UV-resistant.
During the hotter parts of the day, consider turning off lights and electrical equipment that you're not using. If you need to use the oven, consider cooking at a later point in the day when the weather is a little cooler.
Opt for light cotton or linen pyjamas for the best chance of comfort. If you love to be snuggled into your duvet but can't cope with the heat that it brings, try one with a lower tog, such as the HOMESCAPES Goose Feather And Down 4.5 Tog Summer Duvet. If you really struggle to cool down your bedroom, you may want to consider sleeping in a different part of the house.

Savvy Tesco shopper finds new products you 'need to see' as they could 'save you money'
A smart shopper, who shares money saving tips and deals online, has discovered a new range of products in Tesco that have much lower price tags than similar high-end brands Tesco has launched a new line of products that a savvy shopper has urged others to check out. With households feeling the effects of the continuing inflation and rising cost of living, more Brits are looking for ways they can save money. Laura White, an expert in money saving tips and deals, alerted her Instagram followers to something she had spotted in Tesco that she believes could save them 'a lot of money.' The savvy shopper noticed that the supermarket has recently released a range of fragrances by Skin Saints that smell similar to various high end brands. She said: 'If you are a Carolina Herrera Good Girl fan, this fragrance called Passion could be for you. 'It's meant to smell just like Good Girl. [The] price comparison is very different though as you can get this 100ml bottle for just £7 with your Clubcard.' The Carolina Herrera Good Girl perfume is recognised by its striking stiletto-shaped bottle and it costs £139 for the 100ml size when purchased directly from the brand online. Continuing to explore the Skin Saints range in Tesco, Laura added: 'They've also got a fragrance called Rouge which is really similar to the iconic Baccarat Rouge 540. 'Again this is just £7 for the 100ml bottle.' The next product she highlighted was Santal, which has a sandalwood and warm spice scent, similar to the luxury Santal 33 by Le Labo. The Instagram user also spotted the Cerise fragrance, which she explained has been likened to Lost Cherry by Tom Ford. Laura concluded that the Skin Saints products can make 'great money-saving alternatives.' All of the ones she displayed in her clip are £7 with a Tesco Clubcard or £8 without. The post has attracted thousands of views, hundreds of likes and several comments. An impressed viewer remarked: 'Oooohh I've never seen these in my local Tesco. Amazing.' A second shared: 'I love the Santal.' Another exclaimed: 'Oh my goodness now Tesco!!! I'm off there.' Someone else added: 'Going to go and look.' Other Skin Saints fragrances on offer in Tesco include Gold, featuring cinnamon, amber and fresh grapefruit tones, Flower Chain, which has a white violet and sandalwood scent, and Miss Paris, with notes of fresh rose, iris and patchouli. Skin Saints is primarily a skincare brand known for its range of products focused on brightening, nourishing and rejuvenating the skin. Many of them can be found in Tesco and creams, serums and eye treatments are among some of the company's popular products. It offers skincare goods with ingredients, like vitamin C, retinol, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Skin Saints further provides products that target specific skin concerns from dryness to dullness to fine lines and wrinkles.
