No contest for top post as Anwar retains PKR presidency unopposed in 2025 elections
KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 — The nominations for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) 2025 Election which ended at 11.59pm last night saw Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim not challenged by anyone for the position of the party's president.
According to sources, the position of deputy president is seeing a straight fight between Nurul Izzah Anwar and Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who is the incumbent.
For the position of vice president, 12 members have submitted their respective nominations.
The following is a list of candidates vying for the position of PKR vice president for the 2025-2028 term:
Chang Lih Kang (Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation)
Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability)
Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Selangor Menteri Besar)
Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (Negeri Sembilan Menteru Besar)
Datuk Seri R. Ramanan (Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development)
Sim Tze Tzin (Member of Parliament for Bayan Baru)
R. Yuneswaran (Member of Parliament for Segamat)
Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan (head of PKR Hulu Selangor division)
Senator Abun Sui Anyit (head of PKR Hulu Rajang division)
Hee Loy Sian (former Selangor EXCO)
Mustaffa Kamil Ayub (chairman of the National Entrepreneurship Institute)
Manivanan Gowin (head of PKR Jempol division)
In addition, the political secretary to the Minister of Finance Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim is the sole candidate for the position of Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief while PKR Wanita chief post is a one-on-one clash between Fadhlina Sidek, who is also the Education Minister, and Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail.
Nominations for the 2025 PKR Elections took place online over two days starting Thursday.
The objection process is set for May 11 and 12, followed by objection appeals (May 13-14) and withdrawal deadline (May 14) while final list of candidates is on May 15, with the campaign period (May 15-22) and voting is on May 23.
The PKR National Congress, including the AMK Congress and Wanita Congress, is scheduled to be held from May 21 to 24 in Johor Baru. — Bernama

'We also extend our thanks to all parties involved, especially the staff and volunteers who arrived as early as 8.30 am to ensure the smooth execution of the sacrificial ritual, meat processing, and distribution,' he added. The ceremony, organised by the Hang Tuah Jaya Parliamentary Service Centre, was held at Dataran Mat Riau, Bukit Baru, involving around 120 members and volunteers from Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK).

Cops, immigration owe Fahmi Reza an apology, says G25

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The immigration department and Bukit Aman owe graphic artist and activist Fahmi Reza an apology after he was barred from travelling abroad last Saturday, says G25. In a statement today, the group comprising prominent retired civil servants said despite the police's claim that no travel ban had been imposed on Fahmi, the fact remains that he was still denied permission to leave the country. G25 also questioned if there would be some accountability from the authorities after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had called for the deputy inspector-general of police to conduct a full review of Fahmi's travel restrictions, and for the police to clarify the matter further. 'Despite the inspector-general of police admitting there was no actual travel restriction and blaming the incident on 'confusion', neither the police nor the immigration department has apologised or taken responsibility. 'We believe that at the very least, Fahmi is owed a public apology by those responsible,' he said. On Saturday, Fahmi was stopped at KLIA Terminal 2 while trying to board a flight to Singapore to attend a concert. He said an immigration officer allegedly told him the police had denied him clearance to travel overseas and asked him to check with Bukit Aman for further clarification. Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain later said the police did not issue a travel ban against Fahmi and the incident was the result of a 'misunderstanding'. Anwar then said he had instructed the police to investigate the matter, and the government supports individual freedom as long as national security and laws are not compromised. G25 noted the latest incident came just nine days after Fahmi was barred from entering Sabah on May 29. They signal systemic issues that are both concerning and, frankly, embarrassing on the global stage,' the group said.
