Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry was promise a role in an Adam Sandler movie if he rushes for 2,000 yards this season. originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Last season Baltimore Ravens star running back Derrick Henry was on the brink of history, rushing for 1,921 yards.

He was just 79 yards short of eclipsing the momentous 2,000 mark - something Henry has already done once in his career (2,027 yards in 2020 with the Tennessee Titans).
Including Henry, only nine players have ever rushed for 2,000 yards in a season.
But nobody has ever done it twice.
In speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, "King Henry" humbling said 2,000 yards wasn't much of a goal last season, despite how close he was to reaching it.
Patrick was wearing a sweatshirt from Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore 2" collection. The Hall-of-Fame radio host, who has appeared in numerous cameos in his movies, is close friends with Sandler.

Henry approved, saying that Sandler is his favorite actor.
Then, Patrick promised he would try to get Henry a role in a Sandler film if he reaches the 2,000-yard mark this season.
"Say no more. Remember that now," Henry said with a smile.
"The bet is on. No pressure at all."
This may be all the motivation Henry needs to make NFL history in 2025.
Last season's showing for the Ravens ball carrier is still a large act to follow. He played in all 17 games and took an average of almost 20 handoffs a game (325 total).
In his 2020 season, he received 378 handoffs to hit that 2,000 mark. He may have been very close to reaching the milestone if he had been given the ball 23 more times last season...

So with a Sandler cameo on the line, expect Henry to get plenty of touches in 2025.
Sandler's "Happy Gilmore 2", the sequel to the iconic 1996 film, releases on July 25.

Why Chuck Pagano came out of retirement to coach the Ravens

Why Chuck Pagano came out of retirement to coach the Ravens Show Caption Hide Caption Ravens release kicker Justin Tucker after massage therapist allgations Ravens release kicker Justin Tucker, who was accused of sexual misconduct by 16 different employees of eight Baltimore area spas and wellness centers. Sports Pulse For the last four years, former Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano spent his early 60s enjoying his retirement. But the call of football and the temptation to return to the sidelines was always there. In January, Pagano signed on to join the Baltimore Ravens' coaching staff as a senior defensive assistant/secondary coach – his first gig since spending the 2019 and 2020 seasons as the Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator. On Thursday, he spoke to the media about why he made the decision to return. "I never really stopped thinking about coming back," he said. Pagano explained that his initial reason for retiring in the first place was needing a break from working after dealing with the stress of coaching during the 2020 season – the peak year of the COVID-19 pandemic. BALTIMORE RAVENS: Lamar Jackson in 'introductory stage' of extension talks with team After four years though, Pagano realized that his time not coaching football was leaving him with an itch he couldn't scratch. "I was done with a workout, honey-dos, chores, and it's 10 o'clock in the morning," he said. "And I'm like, can't start drinking, I wait till a certain time to start that, but it's hard to fill your days. "(Returning to the Ravens) was the opportunity of a lifetime and probably the only place that could get me to come back." Pagano was part of then-rookie head coach John Harbaugh's first staff when he joined the Ravens in 2008, serving as the team's secondary coach for three years before a promotion to defensive coordinator in 2011. He left for the Colts head coaching job in 2012, one year later. After six years with the Colts, two years with the Bears and four years of retirement, Pagano is back in Baltimore. RAVENS WR DEPTH CHART: Where Rashod Bateman fits after extension Just don't consider this an indication that he has aspirations to be a head coach again. "No, sir," he said in response to a question about a return head coaching. For now, Pagano is just enjoying the ride and making the most out of an opportunity to coach again. "When you have something, you kind of take it for granted. And then, when you don't, you realize just how special it was: to coach and be a part of something – be a part of a team – have the relationships that you develop and build when you're a part of something like that. "It's been awesome."

Cowboys BREAKING With Micah Parsons Surprise Arrival at OTAs

Cowboys BREAKING With Micah Parsons Surprise Arrival at OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - We were given no indication from the Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons would be showing up to work on Thursday. Advertisement So we will work on the assumption that they are as mildly surprised - and wildly pleased - to see him striding into The Star, his recent travel plans behind him. While a new deal has been discussed and per reporting maybe valued at more than $40 million APY and thought to last around five years, so far, there have been no substantial developments between Micah and the Cowboys regarding the finalization of an extension. Yes, ideas have been pitched back and forth, but the longer it goes without getting done, the more fans shift nervously and angrily in their seats. Training camp looms as a "real" deadline in negotiations for Micah and Dallas, with Parsons stating that it is crucial for him to have a deal in place by the time he arrives in Oxnard. Advertisement Given the magnitude of the deal and the player, it is no surprise that Micah's contract getting done is the biggest training camp storyline for Dallas as the late-July move to Oxnard awaits. As of Tuesday morning here inside The Star? No, Parsons was not present ... and coach Brian Schottenheimer was unconcerned. "We talked a couple of days ago,'' the coach said, adding that he "assumes'' Parsons will be in the building for upcoming mandatory work. Ah, but wait ... At about 2:10 p.m. ... shortly after the end of practice ... here came Micah down the hallway, as noted by colleague Saad Yousuf ... Parsons, who just turned 26 years old, is arguably the the best pass rusher in football. The idea of him earning a $200 million contract - maybe the biggest non-QB deal ever - is almost inevitable. Advertisement Is a camp absence inevitable, too? With the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb dragging through training camp last offseason, Parsons won't want to suffer a similar fate. So far, Parsons has been in and out of OTAs, and being voluntary, there's nothing wrong with that, although in an ideal world, he would attend. Mandatory mini camp is just around the corner - another "deadline'' on June 10 - and Micah is expected to attend, but in what capacity is unknown. Dallas has had a solid offseason in Brian Schottenheimer's first go-around as head coach. The missing piece? A Parsons contract extension to let out all of the unnecessary tension. Advertisement "Deadlines make deals," owner Jerry Jones once famously said to us way back when, and we are quickly approaching the biggest deadline in Parsons' contract talks. ... with Micah showing up on Tuesday nothing but a positive sign. Cowboys' Micah Parsons Announces Major Statement

Cowboys' Micah Parsons Announces Major Statement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Micah Parsons being in and out of Dallas Cowboys OTAs wasn't the biggest of deals, with the All-Pro making his way to The Star after the most recent practice. Advertisement But with his contract situation still not resolved, all eyes are on mandatory mini-camp next week and whether or not "The Lion" will be in attendance. "I expect to see him," head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. And now Micah himself has confirmed his attendance via X regardless of whether a deal is done or not. "I will be there! I haven't missed a mini camp in 4 years! Even though the contract is not done, I have teammates and a playbook ! I'm preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp! But it's in the owner's hands. I'm ready to win a Super Bowl !" Micah Parsons And Brian SchottenheimerTony Fisher Cue a collective sigh of relief with perhaps Dallas' best player not letting his contract situation interfere with his football. Advertisement Of course, in an ideal world, Dallas and Micah would come to terms sooner rather than later, but with Parsons expected to fetch a contract around $40 million APY, Jerry Jones stated that No. 11 must be the player he wants to be paid like. And that means showing up for work. Which Parsons has done to a degree during OTAs, and now he's confirmed he'll be at The Star next week for the mandatory portion of this early offseason work. Part of a new-look leadership group, Parsons knows the value of being there for his teammates and to learn a new playbook. So with or without a contract, Micah will be present next week.
