From Family Feud To Facebook Fury: Tej Pratap's Tumultuous Turn In RJD Politics

Lalu Yadav has often praised Tej Pratap, likening him to Lord Krishna for his energy and charisma. Such contradictions suggest the expulsion may be symbolic, not punitive
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has once again stirred political chatter in Bihar with his recent remarks, including controversial references likening some to 'Jaichand" — a historical figure often associated with betrayal.
Jaichand, a 12th-century ruler from the Gahadavala dynasty, is historically remembered for his rivalry with Prithviraj Chauhan. In the epic poem Prithviraj Raso, he is depicted as a betrayer who sided with invading forces against Prithviraj, earning a lasting reputation as a symbol of treachery.
Despite being expelled by both his party and family following his controversial Facebook post which has now been deleted, Tej Pratap remains a subject of public and political attention. Tej Pratap 's deep emotional connection with his family, especially with his father Lalu Prasad Yadav and brother Tejashwi Yadav, continues to be evident in his social media posts.
In an emotional message shared on X, Tej Pratap expressed that his parents, Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, are his 'whole world". He subtly criticised some party members, accusing them of betrayal and trying to disrupt the family's unity.
'My dear mom and dad. My whole world is just you two. You and any order given by you are greater than God. If you are there, then I have everything. I just need your trust and love and nothing else," Tej Pratap Yadav said in a post on X.
'Papa, if you were not there, then this party would not have been there and neither would greedy people like Jaichand who do politics with me. Just mummy papa, may you both always be healthy and happy," he added.
Meanwhile, some observers view Lalu Prasad Yadav's actions with suspicion, suggesting they could be part of a larger electoral strategy. Political commentators believe Lalu's earlier public display of affection for Tej Pratap has cast doubt on the seriousness of the expulsion.
Lalu Prasad Yadav has earlier frequently expressed admiration for Tej Pratap, likening him to Lord Krishna and praising his unique energy and natural political instinct. He once described Tej Pratap as having a distinct charisma and passion, often acknowledging his unconventional behaviour through mythological references. These contradictory statements and actions have led many to believe that the expulsion may be more symbolic than punitive.
In another X post, Tej Pratap assured his brother Tejashwi of his unwavering support despite the physical distance between them, and vowed to expose any conspiracies targeting them.
Tej Pratap also congratulated Tejashwi Yadav on the birth of his son last week.
Tej Pratap's ex-wife, Aishwarya Rai, has also weighed in, dismissing the expulsion as a staged drama. She questioned the authenticity of the family's actions, alleging that they were always aware of Tej Pratap's long-standing relationship but chose to shield him while she was unfairly blamed.
Tej Pratap, known for his dramatic flair and fondness for controversy, shared a photo with Anushka Yadav — a woman previously linked to him and referred to as a 'close friend' within family circles, though never publicly confirmed.
Recently, Tej Pratap made a bold claim on Facebook that they had been in a 'relationship for 12 years", a period that also encompasses the time he was married.
This revelation not only sparked a social media frenzy but also led to a significant family upheaval, resulting in Tej Pratap's six-year political exile. Meanwhile, Tej Pratap claimed that his social media accounts were hacked and his pictures were 'wrongly edited" to defame him and his family.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Senior superintendent of police Abhimanyu Rana on Tuesday said that Tarn Taran police, in a joint operation with the counter-intelligence unit, arrested Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali, Tarn Taran. Preliminary investigation revealed that Gagandeep worked in Vallaha Mandi and came in contact with Chawla over Facebook, said Rana. When asked whether Gagandeep travelled to Pakistan in the past, he replied that police were investigating. He, however, added that Gagandeep was engaged in sharing classified details, including troop deployments and strategic locations, posing a threat to national security. "Gagandeep Singh in touch with Chawla for the past five years, through whom he was introduced to the Pakistani intelligence operatives (PIOs) and also received payments from PIOs via Indian channels," Rana said. The SSP said that they recovered a mobile phone containing intelligence that he shared with the PIOs as well as the details of over 20 ISI contacts. Rana said that during interrogation, Gagandeep disclosed that he was tasked by ISI handlers to gather sensitive information about deployment in border areas, including railway stations and Amritsar city. He was also receiving monetary benefits for espionage activities. Financial and technical investigations were under way to trace other linkages and establish the full scope of this espionage network, he said, adding that more arrests were likely in the next few days. Chawla, a pro-Khalistan Sikh leader from Nankana Sahib and chairman of Punjabi Sikh Sangat, has been consistently vocal in his anti-India rhetoric. He reportedly played a key role in organising anti-India demonstrations and is believed to be tasked by ISI with identifying "soft targets" among Indian Sikh jathas visiting Pakistan on religious occasions. Chawla first came into the spotlight after posting photographs with Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Jamaat-ud-Dawa and the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. In 2019, Jalandhar police arrested one Harpal Singh Pala, a resident of Bhatija village, who was in touch with Chawla for allegedly supplying crucial and strategic information to him. Federal officers in tactical gear went into a Latino community in Minneapolis. A protest followed

MINNEOLIS — Dozens of protesters converged in the heart of the Latino community in Minneapolis on Tuesday after a large force of federal and local authorities wearing tactical gear conducted what they called a law enforcement action. The protesters flocked to the area near a Mexican restaurant and other Latino-owned businesses after seeing livestreams that claimed an immigration raid was underway, reflecting opposition to such raids in a city that has declared itself a sanctuary for migrants. However, statements from local authorities said it was not an immigration enforcement matter, but a criminal case. 'While we are still gathering details, this incident was related to a criminal search warrant for drugs and money laundering and was not related to immigration enforcement,' Mayor Jacob Frey said in a Facebook post soon after the police action. 'No arrests were made.' But several dozen protesters remained at the intersection occupied by federal agents hours earlier, using cars to block traffic. A few held signs saying 'abolish ICE' and 'stop the deportations.' A driver went through the crowd. At least one person appeared to have been knocked to the ground but got up and said they were OK. Protesters deflated the car's tires; police moved in to take the driver away, and a scuffle ensued. At least one man was taken into custody. Bystander video showed officers wearing logos from local agencies but also federal ones, including the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations. An armored vehicle at the scene bore the initials of Homeland Security Investigations. Minneapolis' police chief also was present. Michelle Gross, president of the local Communities United Against Police Brutality group, said the show of force appeared designed to 'terrorize people into submission.' 'This is jackbooted thuggery, and we aren't having it in our city,' she said. Onlooker Jennifer Davila, who works in the community, said it already had been on edge because of raids. It's tight-knit, and 'if something happens, we know about it," she said. 'They had a white van, a black van and a tank. For a raid, that's pretty excessive,' Davila said. 'And then coming into a brown community and doing this, because we have all kinds of immigrants, not just Latinos.' While the mayor said there were no arrests, a few protesters were at least temporarily detained as tensions grew between the crowd and the law enforcement officers. A Minnesota Public Radio photographer was pepper-sprayed and had his camera broken. A Facebook post from the sheriff's office said it 'partnered with federal agencies on a criminal investigation and part of that investigation included the execution of multiple search warrants at multiple locations in the metro area.' Frey said the police department's only role was helping with crowd control, and that the department was not involved in 'anything related to immigration enforcement.' Both the police department and sheriff's offices have policies against cooperating with immigration enforcement actions. The sheriff's office said that in conducting criminal investigations, 'We work with federal partners regularly.' A local FBI spokesperson, Diana Freedman, declined in a text message to provide details about the operation. Associated Press writers Sarah Raza in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and John Hanna in Topeka, Kansas, contributed reporting.

What to know about fatal shooting of 'King of the Hill' actor Jonathan Joss as co-stars pay tribute

HOUSTON — What prompted the fatal shooting of Jonathan Joss, a Native American voice actor best known for his work on the animated television series 'King of the Hill,' remained unclear on Tuesday. While Joss' husband has claimed the person who killed the actor yelled 'violent homophobic slurs' before opening fire, San Antonio police have said they've found 'no evidence whatsoever to indicate that Mr. Joss' murder was related to his sexual orientation.' Police did not respond to multiple emails on Tuesday seeking additional information on the cause of the shooting. Since Joss' killing, friends, actors Joss worked with and fans have honored the actor's memory with tributes and fond remembrances. Here's what to know about Joss, his career and his shooting: Joss, 59, grew up in San Antonio and graduated from the communications and theater program at Our Lady of the Lake University in 1990. Joss was best known as the voice of John Redcorn, a Native American character on the popular 'King of the Hill' animated series, which ran for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008. A reboot of the show, which Joss had already worked on, is set to start in August. Joss also had a recurring role on the television show 'Parks and Recreation,' playing Chief Ken Hotate. He appeared in two episodes of the series 'Tulsa King' in 2022. Joss' childhood home, where he still lived, burned down in January. He lost all his belongings and his three dogs were killed in the blaze. A GoFundMe account had been set up to help Joss and his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, get back on their feet. 'We may have lost our home, but not our hope. We're moving forward with love, humor, and a little elbow grease…and we're incredibly grateful for every ounce of support,' Joss said in a May 14 Facebook post in which he indicated he was in Los Angeles looking for a new home. Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, is accused by police of confronting Joss and his husband as they were checking their mail at the burned-down home Sunday night. In a statement, de Gonzales alleged that when Ceja Alvarez opened fire, Joss pushed his husband out of the way and saved his life. Ceja Alvarez was charged with murder. Court records indicate he was freed Monday on a $200,000 bond. Ceja Alvarez's attorney, Alfonso Otero, did not immediately return a call or an email seeking comment. Robert Rios, a friend of Joss', told TV station KSAT that Joss and Ceja Alvarez were neighbors and the two had argued for years. Actor Chris Pratt, who worked with Joss on 'Parks and Recreation,' fondly remembered the actor in an Instagram story on Monday. Both actors had also appeared in the 2016 remake of 'The Magnificent Seven.' 'Damn. RIP Jonathan. Always such a kind dude,' Pratt wrote. 'Sad to see. Prayers up. Hug your loved ones.' In a Facebook post, San Antonio-based Our Lady of the Lake University, Joss' alma mater, called him 'a trailblazer in his field. His work and advocacy have left a lasting impact, and his legacy will continue to inspire.' 'You were more than a character — you were a storyteller, a dreamer, and a force that will never be forgotten,' comedian Roy Alex Gomez, who was a friend of Joss, wrote in a Facebook post.
