At the 40th edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, the injury bug was back in business. And this time, it bit Seth Rollins. In his co-main event outing against LA Knight, 'The Architect' performed a Lionsault off the second rope and landed awkwardly on his feet.
That was it for the Money in the Bank briefcase holder. Rollins clutched his leg in visible pain and dragged himself to the corner of the ring, talking to Paul Heyman, the ringside doctor, and the referee.
Just moments later, Knight picked up the win after a new finish was planned on the spot. Many media outlets reported that Rollins' injury was legitimate and that he would be out for a considerable amount of time. And it seems that the reports are true.
WWE
CCO Triple H gave the fans an update on Rollins and his knee injury.
Triple H Says Seth Rollins' Injury Is Still Inconclusive
At the post-event presser after Evolution 2, Triple H addressed the media and informed that Rollins' knee injury was still inconclusive and that the former WWE Champion would undergo an MRI scan on July 14 to have more clarity about his situation.
'And I'm sure somebody here would ask about Seth. I would say a little bit inconclusive. Doesn't look good. We're in Birmingham tomorrow. He came here tonight, he was not going to miss his wife's [Becky Lynch] performance tonight.
He was here, and he'll be in Birmingham tomorrow with Dr. (Jeffrey) Dugas. We'll get an MRI, hope for the best, and see where we can go with that.'
Rollins' wife, Becky Lynch, defended her Women's Intercontinental title against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria at Evolution 2, and 'The Architect' wouldn't miss it for sure. However, Fightful reported that Rollins was seen on crutches backstage at the event, which points to a more grim situation.
Moreover, Rollins has had issues with the same right knee. In November 2015, Rollins tore his ACL, MCL, and Meniscus during a house show in Dublin against Kane, forcing him to relinquish his WWE title and miss WrestleMania 32. If the injury is bad, then Rollins may have to miss this year's 2-night SummerSlam, which will definitely prove to be a big bummer considering how his heel run has caught the attention of the WWE universe.

ENG vs IND: Washington Sundar snubbed from Aakash Chopra's combined XI

Former India cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra has revealed his combined India-England XI of the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The team picked on his YouTube channel features a mix of top-performing players from both sides over the course of the five-match Test of the notable exclusions from the lineup was India's all-rounder Washington Sundar, who delivered consistent performances with both bat and ball throughout the series. Sundar, known for his disciplined off-spin and lower-order resilience, was overlooked in favour of Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes for the all-rounder was thinking about Washington Sundar also here, but I will have Ravindra Jadeja here, Jaddu has scored runs consistently. Of course, he hasn't taken too many wickets. He got fewer opportunities to take wickets as well, and spin hasn't done that well.' Chopra said. Washington Sundar had a strong all-round performance in the Test series. He scored 284 runs in 4 matches at an average of 47.33, often helping the team with important runs when needed. With the ball, he took 7 wickets at an economy of just 3.64. His steady bowling and useful batting made him one of India's most dependable players in the greater experience and history of match-winning performances were key factors in his selection over Sundar in Chopra's combined former India opener named Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as his openers, both of whom were commended for their consistency and hunger for runs.'Yashasvi, I felt, has done well. He scored hundreds in the first and last matches and had two half-centuries in between. He has scored more than 500 runs and batted extremely well,' Chopra Stokes played last match, result might've been different: ChopraJoe Root and Shubman Gill were placed at No. 3 and No. 4, though Chopra noted the order could be interchangeable.'Just like this team can't be made without Joe Root, it can't be made without Gill either. He has scored more than 750 runs. He is the highest run-scorer of the series, and by a considerable margin,' he middle order comprised Rishabh Pant and Harry Brook. Chopra praised Pant for his aggressive batting and ability to perform under pressure.'My keeper-batter is, of course, Rishabh Pant, who bats even with a broken foot. He is someone who has been outstanding.' He Stokes was slotted at No. 7 and Jadeja at No. 8, completing the lower-middle order.'Ben Stokes He has been outstanding. If he had played the last match, the result might have been different. He has scored runs, but the highlight was his bowling,' Chopra pace attack featured Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and England's Josh he is wayward, but he picks up wickets. I am going with pure wickets here,' Chopra remarked on Tongue's Chopra's combined XI:Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Joe Root, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant (wk), Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Tongue.- EndsTune InMust Watch

Explained: Why Shubman Gill Dropped In ICC Test Rankings Despite Scoring Most Runs In IND vs ENG Test Series

Shubman Gill's record-breaking run in the recently concluded India vs England Test series was nothing short of spectacular. Amassing 754 runs across five Tests, Gill firmly established himself as one of the finest red-ball batters of his generation. His sublime form drew comparisons with greats like Virat Kohli and even Don Bradman, especially as his tally became the second-highest by a Test captain in a bilateral series—behind only Bradman's 801 runs. However, despite such heroics, Gill has shockingly dropped four spots in the latest ICC Test batting rankings, sliding from 9th to 13th. This decline has stirred curiosity among fans and pundits alike: How does a batter with such a prolific series fall out of the top 10? ICC Rankings: The Numbers Game To understand Gill's ranking dip, one must dive into the nuances of the ICC's ranking algorithm, which calculates points based on recent performances, match context, opposition strength, and consistency. Heading into the fifth and final Test at The Oval, Gill was placed comfortably in 9th position. However, a modest score of just 32 runs in that decider came at a cost. Since the ICC rankings heavily weigh performances in the most recent matches, his failure in a high-stakes game led to a sharp drop in rating points, pushing him down to 13th. This outcome underlines the dynamic and sometimes unforgiving nature of the ICC ranking system, where one poor outing—despite a series of excellence—can impact a player's standing significantly. India's New Skipper: Bright Future Despite Setback While the rankings slip may sting, it does little to dim the larger narrative: Shubman Gill's ascendancy as India's new Test captain is off to a brilliant start. Leading the side in a challenging five-match series against England, Gill showcased resilience, temperament, and remarkable batting flair. His 754-run haul included three centuries and two fifties, often under testing conditions. More importantly, his leadership helped India draw the series 2-2, maintaining their formidable home record and signaling a fresh era in Indian Test cricket. Siraj and Krishna: The Pace Twins Shine Bright The fifth Test wasn't just about Gill's stumble—it was about India's pace firepower rising to the occasion. Mohammed Siraj, named Player of the Match, delivered a sensational performance with 9 wickets (4 in the first innings, 5 in the second), helping India secure a thrilling 6-run victory. Siraj's match-winning effort saw him leap 12 spots in the ICC Test Bowler Rankings, reaching a career-best 15th position with 674 rating points. It's a testament to his evolution as a strike bowler in all conditions. Joining him in the spotlight was Prasidh Krishna, whose 8 wickets in the Oval Test—including a crucial four-fer in the first innings—catapulted him 25 places up to 59th, also marking his highest career position in the ICC charts. Yashasvi Jaiswal Breaks Into Top 5 India's batting riches were further evident with Yashasvi Jaiswal's stellar knock at The Oval. The young opener's century in the final Test earned him a three-place jump, pushing him into the top 5 of the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time, with 792 rating points. Jaiswal's consistency and attacking intent have turned him into a match-winner at the top of the order, and his upward trajectory in the rankings underscores his growing influence. Meanwhile in England Camp… It wasn't all gloom for England either. Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue, both of whom grabbed 8 wickets each in the final Test, were rewarded with career-best ranking boosts. Atkinson broke into the top 10, while Tongue jumped 14 places to 46th, signaling a bright future for England's fast-bowling depth.

Australia Star Sam Konstas, Who Once Had A Spat With Virat Kohli, Named In Squad Against India A

Australia openers Sam Konstas and Nathan McSweeney were on Thursday named in the 'A' squad bound to India to play two four-day matches in Lucknow in September, with an eye on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2026-27. Konstas had replaced McSweeney during the last India-Australia series Down Under but has failed to nail his spot at the top of the order, having endured a disappointing outing in Caribbean even as his side thoroughly dominated the West Indies. The 19-year-old Konstas is the only current Test player to be named in the 'A' side while the other capped players include McSweeney, Cooper Connolly and spinner Todd Murphy. Murphy, who has so far featured in seven Tests, played each of the four matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during their India tour in 2022-23, which Australia lost 1-2, claiming 14 wickets. Australia's chairman of selectors George Bailey was quoted as saying by 'The subcontinent provides many unique challenges and the opportunity to utilise different skills with bat and ball.' "We hope repeated experiences in these conditions will assist players in developing an effective method and understanding of their game for future subcontinent tours." "For many of these players we remain interested in the development of their short-form cricket as well, but balancing out priorities meant we wanted them back and available for the start of the Sheffield Shield season,' he added. A notable miss in the red-ball squad are Jason Sangha, who scored 202 not out against Sri Lanka A in Darwin last month, and Matthew Renshaw, who too has the experience of playing Tests in India. Sangha, however, has been named in the one-day squad for the three matches to be played in Kanpur. The two four-day matches will be played in Lucknow from September 16-19 and September 23-26, while the three one-day games will be on September 30, October 3 and 5 respectively. Squads: Four-Day matches: Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Jack Edwards, Aaron Hardie, Campbell Kellaway, Sam Konstas, Nathan McSweeney, Lance Morris, Todd Murphy, Fergus O'Neill, Oliver Peake, Josh Phillippe, Corey Rocchiccioli, Liam Scott. One-Day squad: Cooper Connolly, Harry Dixon, Jack Edwards, Sam Elliott, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Mackenzie Harvey, Todd Murphy, Tanveer Sangha, Liam Scott, Lachie Shaw, Tom Straker, Will Sutherland, Callum Vidler.
