Pedestrian killed by driver at Boutz and El Paseo June 13

Las Cruces police are seeking information concerning a crash that killed Juan A. Haro on June 13 at the intersection of Boutz and El Paseo.
Police and fire personnel were dispatched to the report that a pedestrian had been struck by vehicle at 10:50 p.m. First responders arrived to find Haro, 48, suffering from multiple injuries, according to a news release from the City of Las Cruces.
"Life-saving measures were attempted, but Haro was pronounced dead at the scene," the release read.

Traffic investigators learned Haro was crossing Boutz, north to south, when he was struck by a black Cadillac CTS that was traveling west on Boutz and approaching El Paseo Road, according to the city.
The Cadillac came to a stop nearby, and police interviewed the 17-year-old driver, according to the city. The vehicle was seized pending a search warrant. The city said no charges had been filed against the teen though the investigation was still underway.
Anyone who has information or video footage of this incident and has not yet spoken with the police is asked to contact traffic investigators at 575-526-0795.

Las Cruces police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early on June 14 along the 200 block of East Idaho Avenue. The victim, a 39-year-old man, told police he was sitting in his car shortly after midnight when someone approached and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The suspect began stabbing the victim who denied his request, according to a news release from the City of Las Cruces. The victim was able to escape and ran to the nearby Walgreens on El Paseo Road, where police and fire personnel met the victim. The victim was airlifted to an El Paso hospital with serious injuries. The suspect was a Black man, the victim told police. He was about 5-feet-11-inches tall with short hair and a goatee, wearing an oversized black hoodie and dark pants, the victim said.
