Anticipation is building for WWE's Backlash premium live event, with speculation that a significant surprise could be in store for fans in St. Louis. The WWE fans have been without a recent sighting of a top-tier talent, and this Saturday might mark his impactful reappearance.
The main event is expected to be John Cena defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton. The WWE Intercontinental Championship will be on the line as Dominik Mysterio faces Penta. Lyra Valkyria is set to defend her WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship against Becky Lynch. In a non-title special attraction, GUNTHER will go one-on-one with Pat McAfee.
The WWE United States Championship will be contested in a fatal four-way match as champion Jacob Fatu defends against Drew McIntyre, LA Knight, and Damian Priest. The superstar at the center of these return rumors is none other than "The American Nightmare," Cody Rhodes.
His absence from WWE programming has been noticeable since his last major encounter in April. Regarding the possibility of Rhodes making an unexpected appearance, a source shared insights with PWInsider.com.
It would make sense for Rhodes to show up as a surprise, and a source stated there has been a least one pitch for Rhodes to return at Backlash. However, they haven't heard 100% that's the direction.

Rhodes' most recent match saw him defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Cena. This marquee bout took place on Night 2 of WrestleMania 41, on April 20, 2025, where Cena went over to win the title.
Beyond the championship clash, intriguing rumors suggest a star-studded tag team encounter could be on the horizon as Cena might align with Travis Scott for a future match, considering their on-screen alliance.

Their potential opponents are speculated to be another music powerhouse with proven WWE experience, Bad Bunny, who could find a partner in the returning Cody Rhodes. Such a pairing would undoubtedly create a monumental attraction, blending the worlds of sports entertainment and mainstream music.
There is a backstory as Scott's controversial involvement at WrestleMania 41 saw him play a role in Cena's championship win over Rhodes. Adding further credibility to Scott's potential in-ring future, reports suggest he is currently training with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.

Gen Z Shows Her Sister Her Outfit—Unprepared for Her Reaction

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A Generation Z woman has gone viral for sharing an account of her older sister's reaction to her vacation outfit, and internet viewers are howling with laughter. Sophia Bamford (@sophiabamff), 22, had been excited to debut a new look while on a family trip. The outfit—a brown, loose-fitting linen set from Zara—was a step away from her usual travel attire. Normally opting for an oversize sweatsuit on travel days, she wanted something that felt just as comfortable but more polished. Bamford told Newsweek that the set struck the perfect balance between "relaxed and refined" and was ideal for both the flight and meeting up with family afterward. "When I finally put it on and stepped out of the bathroom to show my sister, she gave me a disappointed look and said, in that classic older-sister tone, 'Well, as long as you like it, that's all that matters,'" Bamford said. "It instantly struck me as hilarious because if you have sisters, you know exactly what that means. Sisters are brutally honest, often without any filter." Bamford added that, while the comment initially made her second-guess the outfit for a moment, the feeling didn't last. She reminded herself of the effort and intention behind her choice and how excited she had been to wear it. It wasn't "just an outfit"—it was part of her effort to elevate her wardrobe and feel like the most-confident version of herself. She wasn't offended by her sister's reaction, though. Bamford said it came from a place of love and that their bond is one rooted in honesty and humor. She added that only people with siblings could truly understand the kind of unfiltered feedback that comes from someone who knows you best. Bamford and her sister, Emilee, 27, are six years apart in age. While they weren't especially close growing up—Emilee often seeing Sophia as the "annoying little sister"—that changed after Sophia graduated high school. Since then, the sisters have chosen to become not just siblings, but also best friends. Now, they share everything from deep conversations to outfit critiques, and moments like the one captured in the viral video reflect just how real and playful their relationship is. "I think there's something powerful in showing the small, everyday moments that people can relate to," Bamford said. "Sometimes, the funniest, most-honest content comes from just being yourself and letting your sister roast you a little bit along the way." The video resonated with thousands, garnering more than 244,200 likes and over 2.1 million views on TikTok. In the comments, viewers posted with their own takes on sisterly dynamics. "No that's a younger sister move in my opinion," commented one user. "I'm that older sister and I ain't sorry," wrote another. "The amount of times I've changed my outfit so my sister can wear what I was wearing lol [laugh out loud]—but she'd do the same for me." "As someone with 4 sisters … I do not care what you wear. Good or bad. Don't care enough," posted another commenter. One user summed it up perfectly: "Many of us older sisters truly would not wear what our younger, non-road-paving sisters would wear. But the same is true the other way around, yes?" Do you have any viral videos or pictures that you want to share? We want to see the best ones! WWE Money in the Bank 2025 predictions: Surprise cash in? John Cena no longer a heel?

WWE Money in the Bank 2025 predictions: Surprise cash in? John Cena no longer a heel? Show Caption Hide Caption John Cena warns media, he will ruin wrestling, he is the last real champion in WWE After making history at WrestleMania 41, John Cena warns the media that he will ruin wrestling and he is the last real champion in WWE What WWE fans know about Money in the Bank is that a men's and women's star will get a golden opportunity for a championship in the future. What fans don't know is who the lucky individual will be. The titular matches will headline the event taking place inside the Intuit Dome on Saturday. A chance to dramatically alter the WWE landscape awaits the winners. The field for the men's and women's matches offer intriguing storylines. Cases could be made for several to be the victor of each match. However, only two people will be able to climb the ladder and snag the briefcase. Outside of the Money in the Bank matches, the Women's Intercontinental Championship will be on the line, plus John Cena and Logan Paul team up to face Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. It's a small card with only four matches, but that leaves the door open for chaos. What will transpire at Money in the Bank? USA TODAY Sports' wrestling reporters offer their predictions: Women's Intercontinental Championship match: Lyra Valkyria (c) vs. Becky Lynch prediction Jordan Mendoza: Valkyria and Lynch run it back after their stellar performance at Backlash. This feud has been enjoyable to watch play out and Lynch has brought out more skills for Valkyria as a result. But can the champion get to 3-0 against "The Man?" Everything points to Lynch finally getting the best of her fellow countrywomen, and she'll probably cheat to do it. However, Valkyria pulls off another stunning finish to retain and remain perfect against Lynch. Winner: Lyra Valkyria. Richard Morin: Lynch is back for more after Valkyria beat her clean in the previous matchup. That can only mean one thing: Shenanigans. We still haven't seen Bayley, who Lynch took out at WrestleMania 41. I could see Bayley interfering with the aim of foiling Lynch, but she inadvertently costs Valkyria instead, setting up a three-way feud for the title down the road. Winner: Becky Lynch. Women's Money in the Bank match prediction Jordan Mendoza: One thing we do know is this match is going to steal the show. All six women are extremely talented and this one is tough to predict. Naomi seems to be the popular option, so I'll go a different route. Three fresh faces from NXT will be in this match, and it will be quite the entrance to the main roster if one of them bests the veterans, similar to Tiffany Stratton last year. After spending much of the match as a non-factor, "The Prodigy" adds another achievement in her young career and leaves with the briefcase in hand. Winner: Roxanne Perez. Richard Morin: This is a great lineup and I could see several different possibilities. Ultimately, I think the decision here is Naomi, whose new heel persona is working well. The emotionally-driven feud between Naomi, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill needs a world title thrown in the mix, and giving Naomi the briefcase will do just that. Winner: Naomi. Men's Money in the Bank match prediction Jordan Mendoza: A few contenders stand out in the men's match, but some craziness is bound to happen in this one, especially with Seth Rollins in the fold. While giving him the briefcase again certainly makes his new faction even more dangerous, expect some outside interference to prevent him from winning. That leaves the ladder open to Solo Sikoa and LA Knight. Both are in need of big breaks, but Sikoa powers through. Winner: Solo Sikoa. Richard Morin: Forgive the fantasy booking here but a strange lineup like this is going to require a strange outcome. If we assume Americano is really Chad Gable (he is) then Gable will have less than an hour before the show starts from the end of his match against El Hijo del Vikingo in the main event of Worlds Collide. A pre-match announcement states Americano is unable to participate (I predict he'll lose to Vikingo). His replacement is announced as CM Punk, which gets a huge pop from the crowd. Roman Reigns returns to foil Rollins in the match, reigniting their feud. Reigns is then engaged by Sikoa, allowing Punk to claim the contract. Winner: CM Punk. John Cena and Logan Paul vs. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso prediction Jordan Mendoza: Is this a match anyone wanted? Not really, but don't discount the fireworks that could happen in this one. If this match closes the show, something dramatic needs to happen. When it looks like Cena and Paul are closing in on victory, Cena stops his partner from cheating. After spending months as a heel, Cena finally has a change of heart and goes back to the crowd-loving champion he has always been. He allows Paul to take the loss, and after shaking hands with Rhodes and Uso, The Rock emerges, setting the stage for his return to the ring. Winner: Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Richard Morin: Many are confused by this match's presence on the card. If it closes the show, there's no reason for confusion. Having both champions in the ring at the same time is a perfect opportunity for a cash-in attempt (if this is not the main event, throw this prediction out the window). CM Punk, who I have as the surprise MITB winner, said Monday to Cena that he would "pick the bones...," and that's exactly what he'll do against a weakened Cena at the end of this match, which itself will end in a no contest. Punk takes the belt off Cena. Result: No contest.
