Carlito Confirms Shocking WWE Departure

In shocking news, Carlito confirmed his WWE departure. Carlito's announcement comes on the same day it was revealed that fellow WWE star R-Truth will also be departing the company once his contract expires. A report from PWInsider mentioned that Carlito's WWE contract will not be renewed when it ends. Similar to R-Truth's situation, he is expected to leave WWE once his current deal runs out. Advertisement Carlito confirmed the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a lighthearted tone. He revealed that his contract will expire soon and will not be renewed. While the release is legitimate, he jokingly wrote that he's being asked to pay back the money he 'stole.' 'My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed. On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently 'stealing money' from the company.' 'I've had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money. All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe. Los quiero mucho! PS…I'll reappear again in another 13yrs Dios me los bendiga.' Carlito became famous in WWE during the 2000s. Although the company released him in 2010, he came back for the 2021 Royal Rumble. In 2023, he made another return at Backlash in Puerto Rico during the Damian Priest vs. Bad Bunny match. The Puerto Rico fans welcomed him with a huge ovation, and WWE later signed him to a new contract. Advertisement After coming back, Carlito joined the LWO faction. However, his time with LWO didn't last long. After WrestleMania 40, he turned heel and joined The Judgment Day because Dominik Mysterio asked him to. Since joining, Carlito has been seen as the funny member of the faction. WWE mainstay receives overwhelming show of support after shocking release from company

I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride. R-Truth and The Miz react after winning a six-pack tag team ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship during WrestleMania 40 in 2024. Getty Images After his nearly two-decade run with World Wrestling Entertainment came to a shocking end over the weekend, the testament to Ron Killings' legacy isn't his in-ring work, his promos or his character changes over the years. Not the fact that he was the oldest (53 years old) WWE talent on the roster yet appeared ageless. Not his character's obsession with John Cena. Not the fact that he was among the longest-serving and most loyal employees in company history. But rather, it was the rare, universal outpouring of love for a man who just seemed to love and appreciate what he had been given and what he continued to earn. Killings, known to wrestling fans as the lovable R Truth, stunned the wrestling world with a simple Tweet on Sunday. 'I'm sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE,' he wrote. At first, fans weren't sure what they'd read was even real. Given Killings' unique and creative sense of humour, many suggested it was a 'work,' lingo for wrestling storyline. But soon, the tributes began to pour in Killings. In my nearly 30-year career covering WWE, not a soul has ever uttered anything but love and respect for Killings., who broke into the business in the late 1990s as K-Kwik. Killings' former tag-team partner, The Miz, was among those who paid homage to Killings on X following his departure. 'Forming Awesome Truth with you was one of the best runs of my career. No one made me laugh harder. Your energy, heart, and smile lit up every room…and every arena. You're not one of a kind, you're one in a lifetime. Love you, Truth. Keep shining.' As did ECW legend and Busted Open co-host Tommy Dreamer: 'He steals every scene he is in. WHAT'S UP WHAT'S UP HIT ME UP.' Canadian Kevin Owens posted a touching tribute. His kindness, humility and infectious good nature makes him one of the most beloved people I've met in this industry and the void that his absence will leave in our locker room is immeasurable. I love you, dude.' Even the current WWE Undisputed champion, John Cena, posted a rare specific post to his X account, which is reserved for motivating posts and few personal recollections, posting a picture of Killings sporting his Cena-themed attire that he wore when the two faced off a week earlier in a match at Saturday Night's Main Event , which proved to be Killings' swan song. Sometimes, when someone is released or simply not signed to a new contract, as a fan, you can say to yourself, 'Oh, I can understand.' Maybe that talent had been off TV for a while, or simply not been being used effectively. Perhaps injuries or Father Time had slowed them down. Or maybe creatively, it just wasn't working. None of that logic applies in this instance. Killings was, pun intended, killing it. But, the harsh reality of life is that sometimes, tough decisions are made. This appears to have been that case. Whatever the case, Killings' loss will be felt by fans of WWE. His comedic timing, his sheer love for the business, his ageless abilities. And, most importantly, the respect among his peers. Fans and members of the WWE roster alike were shocked to learn that R-Truth, real name Ron Killings, will no longer be on WWE television. "Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE," the fan-favorite WWE Superstar posted on social media. More Pro Wrestling: Fans React To R-Truth's Shocking WWE Release Most recently, Cena and R-Truth faced off against each other at Saturday Night's Main Event, with R-Truth promising to help get Cena back to the type of person that made him his childhood hero (R-Truth is five years older than Cena). This unfortunately led to a loss for Mr. Killings, but may have put Cena on the path to becoming the ultimate babyface once again. Despite cheating to win and dismissing R-Truth, Cena posted an image of the 17-year WWE veteran on Instagram wearing his "Ron Cena Farewell Tour" gear, which was unfortunately all too accurate. Given that Cena would make any kind of post during his heel run just goes to show how much respect he had for R-Truth. And it's clear that R-Truth meant a lot to the WWE locker room as a whole. WWE dumping beloved R-Truth in shocker

R-Truth is done at WWE. He himself reported on Sunday that he was being 'released,' which stunned many in wrestling, and has since been verified by wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp on X, who says Truth will be out of the company when his current deal expires. The 53-year-old, whose real name is Ron Killings, concludes a tenure that spanned over 17 years, much longer than his first stint at the company, which ran from 1999-2001. WWE via Getty Images In a heartfelt message shared on X, Killings expressed his gratitude: 'Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride,' he wrote. 'Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.' Advertisement There is 'a lot of shock and disbelief within the WWE roster' over Truth being let go, according to Sapp. Killings' departure follows his recent storyline involvement with current WWE Undisputed champion John Cena. At WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event on May 24, Killings faced Cena in a match that ended with Cena cheating to win, marking Killings' final high-profile televised appearance with the company to date. Fellow competitors, including Rhea Ripley and Pat McAfee, took to social media to share their appreciation for Killings' contributions to the company. Advertisement 'In all seriousness, this is literally so heartbreaking… Thank you Truth,' Ripley posted in a reply to Killings' tweet. McAfee added in a separate post, 'I love @RonKillings It's guaranteed joy when he's a part of a segment.. He's also my dad's favorite WWE Superstar of all time. The McAfees are bummed aht but we all know R Truth will continue to bless the world with his BIG ass brain,' he wrote, then adding, 'THANK YOU TRUTH.' 4 R-Truth (l.) and The Miz (r.) celebrate winning the tag team championships at WrestleMania 40. Getty Images Throughout his career, Killings achieved numerous accolades. He is a two-time WWE United States champion, a two-time WWE Tag Team champion, once with Kofi Kingston and another with The Miz, and he holds the record for the most reigns as WWE 24/7 champion, with 54 title wins. Killings has also challenged for the WWE title on multiple occasions. Before his WWE tenure, Killings made history in Total Nonstop Action (TNA) by becoming the first recognized Black NWA World Heavyweight champion, a title he held twice. Advertisement He was also a three-time Tag Team champion in TNA, including once with former NFL cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones while the latter was suspended one year from the league in 2007. Killings is most known for his comedic segments and providing levity to various forms of WWE programming, which is now being lamented on social media with the news of his release.

Social media buzz: Ron Killings, aka R-Truth, says WWE has given him his release

Ron Killings' character R-Truth has been a mainstay for years in WWE. The WWE Universe loves the comedic and unpredictable nature of R-Truth. His ability to confuse and fool opponents through nonsensical promos and conversation has been one of the favorites. That is why it is surprising, stunning, that Killings announced on Sunday he has been released by the sports entertainment juggernaut. The only thing everyone can hope is this is another example of R-Truth failing to understand what he was told. Anything is possible in the surreal world of WWE, right?
