Juventus show interest in Mainz captain Silvan Widmer
Current Mainz head coach Bo Henriksen has always been quick to both praise and turn to Widmer whenever needed during his 18-month-tenure with the club. Henriksen still handed the 32-year-old only three league starts last season. On no occasion did Widmer go the full 90 minutes for the Nullfünfter. The right fullback/wingback was used 24 times off the bench.

Widmer enters the final year of his Mainz contract. Despite the player's stated enthusiasm for working with his current club in Europe next season, a move would make sense for both sides. Mainz appear prepared to cope with Anthony Caci's departure by installing Nicolas Veratschnig a trial at Widmer's position. Henriksen may also seek to name his own skipper ahead of the new season.
Widmer enjoyed some of the finest years of his career playing for Udinese Calcio in the Serie A between 2013 and 2018. Mainz could easily pocket €1-2m for the man they once paid Basel €2.5m for. The Italian source references only loose enquires from Juventus at this juncture, but the strong logic accompanying a potential move may cause matters to move quickly.

Chiesa wanted by Napoli One of those touted for a sale has been Federico Chiesa. The 27-year-old appears to be surplus to requirements following a poor first season on Merseyside. He has been left out of Liverpool's preseason tour as he and his representatives attempt to secure a move away. Several teams in Italy - most notably Atalanta and AC Milan - are reported to be interested in the winger. And now it's emerged that Napoli have not gone away - despite reports that they would be seeking a deal for Dan Ndoye of Bologna instead. Chiesa - along with Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling - remain on Napoli's radar as a potential Plan B in case a deal for Ndoye cannot be done. July 30 the deadline for Chiesa deal And Antonio Conte's side are seeking to wrap up this transfer quickly. A report in Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Conte wants his squad complete by July 30 for his team's preseason training camp at Castel di Sangro. 'Chiesa hasn't been called up by Liverpool for their tour of Asia, and his time in England already seems to be coming to an end. Napoli could offer him the chance to redeem himself, provided the winger reduces his salary demands,' a report reads.
