Ringo Starr's energy shows no sign of waning, even though the celebrated musician recently turned 85. After more than six decades in the spotlight, the legendary drummer is not only still touring, he's expanding his musical horizons in ways few could have expected, and continuing to produce more new music.
Just months after releasing Look Up, his first full-length in more than half a decade, Starr recently shared some good news via an announcement that confirms that more new work is on the way.
A Follow-Up to Look Up
In a video Starr shared recently on YouTube, the former Beatle revealed that he is already working on a new album, and the project sees him reuniting with the producer who helped him produce his latest genre-shifting effort.
'I'm in the studio here now doing another album with T Bone [Burnett]. Thank you, Lord. Woo. Yeah,' he said in the clip. He jokingly referred to the album's working title as Look Up Two, but then added with a smile, 'I don't think it'll be called that.'
Few Details Are Available
For the moment, details about Starr's upcoming album are scarce, but that's likely only because it's still early days when it comes to putting the project together. The set, which doesn't have a real title or release date yet, will be Starr's twenty-second as a soloist.
Look Up Was Something Different
The upcoming effort will follow Look Up, his country-leaning full-length released in January 2025, which marked his first studio album in nearly six years. That project was a stylistic pivot for Starr, as it leaned into Americana and roots sounds. Fans embraced the sonic move, and Look Up was a relative commercial success in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Touring Picks Up Again in September
While Starr is focused on recording for now, he'll soon be back on the road. The second leg of his U.S. tour is set to kick off on September 10 in Chicago. The next piece of the run will wrap with a six-night Las Vegas residency at the Venetian Theatre, which opens on September 17 and runs through September 27.
Ringo Starr's Creative Push
This upcoming collection will seemingly build on the momentum of Look Up, which earned praise for everything from the production to Starr's decision to try something new and focus on a style that's growing in popularity. The album featured guest contributions from Billy Strings, Lucius, Molly Tuttle, and Alison Krauss, who all rank among the most celebrated names in Americana at the moment.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mother breaks silence over son's tragic death

Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mother has spoken publicly for the first time since her son's tragic death. The Cosby Show star, 54, died on 20 July after drowning during a family holiday in Costa Rica and authorities reported he was caught in a strong current while swimming on a beach in Limón. His mum Pamela Warner has now spoken about how she is dealing with his passing with a sense of peace and resilience – declaring: 'For those of you who are at a loss, pained by the suddenness of his departure, ache for his presence or just to hear his voice one more time, to see his beatific smile one more time, be comforted that he was at peace and more importantly, he did not suffer.' Pamela made her statement in a heartfelt Instagram post. Initial reports suggested malcolm's eight-year-old daughter was with him in the water where he died but was quickly pulled out. But the Judicial Investigation Agency of Costa Rica later clarified she had been ashore at the time of the tragedy. Despite efforts by bystanders and the Costa Rican Red Cross, Malcolm-Jamal was pronounced dead at the scene. No lifeguards were present, and officials noted the drowning occurred very rapidly. His official cause of death was listed as asphyxiation by submersion. In her statement, Pamela also reflected on the symbolism of water in her son's life and death, writing: 'Malcolm was birthed through water and transitioned through water. This was his time. 'His mission on earth had been completed.' She also honoured Malcolm-Jamal's legacy, saying he left 'an indelible mark on the world and on countless hearts' and that 'all who met him, however briefly, were better for the encounter.' Pamela described her son as a 'kind, loving man with a huge heart for humanity,' committed to helping others recognise their 'inner strength' and potential for transformation. She added: 'This was his latest mission and work, transformation, in order for you to be fully present in your life.' Pamela also praised Malcolm's talents as an actor, musician, teacher, coach and business partner, noting his Grammy nominations and win. She said: 'Hold close to whatever part of Malcolm's life that touched yours. 'In keeping it near, you keep his spirit alive – nourishing you with the peace, love, joy and light that embodied Malcolm-Jamal Warner.'

'From the glow of neon diners to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces. At the time, it wasn't clear whether it was really Dylan whose voice was featured — but during a Tonight Show appearance a few days prior to Lost Americana's release, MGK confirmed that it was authentic. 'To be honest, I have no idea how he even knows who I am to this day,' he said. 'And I'm pretty sure that if I say the wrong thing I'll mess it all up, so I'll just shut up and accept whatever Bob Dylan throws my way.' Malcolm-Jamal Warner was 'at peace' when he died

Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mom believes he was "at peace" when he died. The Cosby Show star tragically died last month at the age of 54 after drowning whilst on holiday in Costa Rica and his mother Pamela Warner has now spoken about the tragic loss for the first time, reassuring fans her son "did not suffer" and had "completed" his time on earth. In a lengthy tribute shared on the new Malcolm-Jamal Warner Living Legacy Instagram page, she wrote in part: "For those of you who are at a loss, pained by the suddenness of his departure, ache for his presence or just to hear his voice one more time, to see his beatific smile one more time, be comforted that he was at peace and more importantly, he did not suffer. "Malcolm was birthed through water and transitioned through water. 'This was his time. His mission on earth had been completed. "Hold close to whatever part of Malcolm's life that touched yours. In keeping it near, you keep his spirit alive — nourishing you with the peace, love, joy and light that embodied Malcolm-Jamal Warner." Pamela's statement began with praise for her "exceptional" son. She wrote: "Needless to say our hearts are heavy with the loss of Malcolm. He was a kind, loving man with a huge heart for humanity... Malcolm was an exceptional husband, father, and son — a man deeply in love with life, his wife, and his daughter. He was not only my son, but also my teacher, coach, confidant, business partner, and best friend. He was the son that his father was immensely proud of and loved fiercely and unconditionally." Pamela recalled how the Suits actor - who she also managed - was "in love with the magic" of his career and "always studying and honing" his craft, before going on to praise his other career accomplishments. She wrote: "He began his musical journey a little later in life, at 26. "A poet as well as a musician, he released four albums — two Grammy-nominations and one Grammy award. "At eight years old, after his first stage performance, he declared that being on stage was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. It became a self-fulfilling prophesy. Malcolm left an indelible mark on the world and on countless hearts. All who met him, however briefly, were better for the encounter." Pamela could "fill volumes" with all that she could say about Malcolm-Jamal. She added: "I am so very blessed that he chose me to be his mother, to come into the world through the waters of my womb. "It is an honour and blessing that will be with me all the days of my life."
