Katy Perry Cancels Guadalajara Concerts Due to Unfinished Venue

Yahoo23-04-2025

Katy Perry's upcoming concerts in Guadalajara, Mexico, have been canceled. The shows, set for May 1 and 2, aren't able to take place because the construction of the new Arena Guadalajara won't be done in time.
Perry shared the news in an Instagram Story, writing, 'Sadly, I learned that the construction of Arena Guadalajara will not be complete for their scheduled shows next week, which includes mine on May 1 and 2.'

She continued, 'Last week I sent my team to the Arena to make sure there wasn't anything we could do to make this happen but it was evident when they arrived that the venue was not ready or safe to receive my show or an audience. I wish I could fix this but it is beyond my control. You guys mean the world to me and we have all been on such a beautiful journey together that I will be thinking about how I can create something special for the fans in Guadalajara in the future.'
Arena Guadalajara also axed upcoming shows by Carlos Rivera and Intocable. In a statement, the venue noted that 'the cancelation of the concerts is beyond the control of the artists.' Tickets for all shows will be refunded.
Perry will kick off her Lifetimes Tour tomorrow in Mexico City. The global trek runs though Aug. 22, with stops around North America. She'll then conclude the Lifetimes run by visiting South America and Europe. The tour marks the singer's first time on the road in seven years.
'We're giving BPM. We're giving celebration. We're giving unity. We're giving dance,' Perry told Rolling Stone. 'It will be like Disneyland on Wheels, as it always is. A feast for the eyes and the ears.'
She also teased that she'll play her 'whole life' of hits thus far, while sprinkling in songs from last year's 143 and 2020's Smile, which didn't get a tour after she welcomed her daughter Daisy that year.
'I always remember the audience is a hybrid of different types of people: It's number one fans, and then it's voyeurs. It's people that only know me for one song, and then people that know 'Simple,'' Perry says, referring to her 2005 deep cut featured on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. 'It's such a smorgasbord. I have a responsibility to the audience to give them that singalong, to create that moment, and to bring out some nostalgia.'
Perry recently made headlines (good and bad) for being part of the all-female space flight on Blue Origin's New Shepard. Perry was joined onboard by fellow voyagers Gayle King, activist Amanda Nguyen, movie producer Kerianne Flynn, and entertainment reporter (and Bezos' fiancée) Lauren Sánchez. Aisha Bowe, a former NASA aerospace engineer, was also on the flight, which marks Blue Origin's 31st overall flight and 11th suborbital flight with humans aboard.

Jennie's "Ruby" makes it to Rolling Stone's "Best Album of 2025 So Far"

9 Jun - Jennie Kim of BLACKPINK was revealed to be the only K-pop act to have made it into Rolling Stone's "Best Albums of 2025 So Far" list for her first solo album, "Ruby". The singer joined the likes of other big names such as Lady Gaga ("Mayhem") and Bad Bunny ("Debí Tirar Más Fotos") to receive recognition from the renowned magazine, with Rolling Stone comparing "Ruby" to the works of Rihanna. "Not only does Jennie have an impressive ability to command the centre of candy-coated pop-R&B, there are some moments that feel like, if not direct, at least second-generation descendants of the hazy introspection shown by the Barbadian mogul on her 2016 classic Anti," the magazine wrote. It is noted that Jennie was heavily involved in the making of her namesake album that was released back in March, which is said to be inspired by Shakespeare's "As You Like It" Aside from the chart-topping "Like Jennie", the album also features several collaborations, including "ExtraL" with rapper Doechii and "Love Hangover" with Dominic Fike. Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg performs ahead of B.C. Lions home opener

VANCOUVER - The B.C. Lions have kicked off their CFL season with a concert by legendary rapper Snoop Dogg. The 35-minute performance came before the Lions hosted the Edmonton Elks in their first game of the season. Snoop Dogg performed several of his hits, including 'P.I.M.P.,' 'Gin and Juice,,' and 'Drop it Like it's Hot,' plus abbreviated versions of songs he has featured on, such as Katy Perry's 'California Gurls.' The 53-year-old musician came dressed for the occasion, wearing a B.C. Lions jersey with the number 20 and 'Snoop Dogg' on the back over his black hoodie. He closed the set by signing several footballs and passing them out to fans in the crowd before making a heart with his hands and walking off the stage. Big concerts have become an annual tradition for the Lions. Last year, the team launched its season with a performance by rapper 50 Cent that drew an announced crowd of 53,788. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 7, 2025.

Conan Gray Announces New Album ‘Wishbone'

Conan Gray surprised fans this morning by announcing that his fourth album, Wishbone, will be released on August 15th. The lead single, 'This Song,' is set to drop next week. Gray shared the news in a lengthy post, revealing that he had been slowly writing new music on his own, late after shows and between tours over the past two years. 'I'd come back home and write all the things I felt nobody wanted to hear,' he explained, 'maybe even the things i didn't want people to hear.' 'But over time, I began to feel something I'd never felt before,' he wrote. 'I started to need the music. I listened in airports, in long cab trips, blaring in the shower. In heartbreak, then in joy. I started to play it for my friends, and they started to need it too. In car ride requests with the windows down, in a split pair of wired headphones on the subway home. It became an egregiously niche soundtrack to our own lives in real time, singing just for us.' After playing the songs for frequent collaborator Daniel Nigro, Gray began to record the album. 'It felt like the music was reminding me who I am, at an experimental time in my twenties where 'who I am' had no definition at all,' he continued. 'My driftwood childhood in texas. My lucid summers in London. My blue striped bed sheets in my college apartment.' Gray added that every song was written by himself, in his pajamas, in his bed. Nigro, along with Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Elvira Anderfjärd, and Luka Kloser, produced the album. The fantastical album cover depicts Gray dressed like a sailor floating on a pillow and holding a large wishbone of the album's namesake. 'Here's so much left to say, but I'll say it in the music,' he wrote. In a postscript to the message, he added that 'a wishbone never breaks even.' Gray released his third LP Found Heaven last April. He subsequently went on tour that summer in support of the album. He'll be playing Governors Ball in New York this June.
