Chipper Jones honors Ozzy Osbourne, says he'll ‘forever be linked' to ‘Crazy Train' singer

Jones used Osbourne's iconic song 'Crazy Train' as his walk-up tune during his career, which led to one funny interaction with Mets catching legend Mike Piazza. Jones remembered the exchange between the Baseball Hall of Famers.
'Facing the Mets at home….I walk to the plate and say 'Hey Mike [Piazza], how's it going?' He says, 'I'm doing fine Larry, but I hate this f–king song!' I said ' Well, get ready cuz ur gonna hear about 5 times today!' Pretty funny'
Jones tormented the Mets in his career with 49 homers and a .949 OPS across 245 games.
And with the passing of the legendary rocker, Jones was not the only sports figure to post a tribute to the late Black Sabbath singer.

The Patriots also posted to X about Osbourne after the franchise used 'Crazy Train' for two decades.
'The New England Patriots are saddened to learn of the passing of music legend Ozzy Osbourne, who provided the iconic intro for Patriots games for over 20 years,' the statement read. 'Condolences to his family and all who mourn his loss.'
Osbourne once played 'Crazy Train' live at Gillette Stadium to open the 2005 Patriots' season after the team won back-to-back Super Bowls.
In 1984, Osbourne was arrested in St. Louis while wearing a Blues jersey, which led the NHL team to pay tribute on Tuesday.
'St. Louis loves you, Ozzy. RIP,' the Blues wrote on X.

Bassist Geezer Butler has recalled how Ozzy Osbourne appeared "frail" at the rehearsal for Black Sabbath's final concert. Last week, a representative for the Osbourne family announced that the rock music icon had died at the age of 76. Just two weeks earlier, Ozzy had joined his bandmates, including Geezer - real name Terence Butler - drummer Bill Ward, and guitarist Tony Iommi, for a farewell spectacle held at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. "Then it was time for Ozzy to join us," he wrote in an essay for The Sunday Times. "I knew he wasn't in good health, but I wasn't prepared to see how frail he was. He was helped into the rehearsal room by two helpers and a nurse and was using a cane - being Ozzy, the cane was black and studded with gold and precious stones." Geezer went on to describe how Ozzy seemed to have little energy in the run-up to the show. "He didn't really say much beyond the usual greetings, and when he sang, he sat in a chair," the musician continued. "We ran through the songs, but we could see it was exhausting him after six or seven songs. We had a bit of a chat, but he was really quiet compared with the Ozzy of old." In addition, Geezer noted that the "strangest part" of the final concert performance was the "end". "Normally, we would all hug each other and take a bow to the audience," he explained. "But Ozzy was on his throne and we hadn't thought that out. What do we do? Tony shook his hand, I presented him with a cake, but it was such a strange feeling to end our story like that. I wish I'd had more time backstage with Ozzy, but wishes are redundant now." Elsewhere in the essay, Geezer insisted Ozzy had a "heart of gold" despite adopting the nickname "Prince of Darkness". "To me, Ozzy wasn't the Prince of Darkness - if anything, he was the Prince of Laughter. He'd do anything for a laugh, a born entertainer," he added.

100 NFL Players Busted For Selling Super Bowl LIX Tickets, Social Media Snitches

More than a hundred are set to be fined and/or lose their allocation for the next two Super Bowls after league sources revealed they sold their tickets for more than face value. 'Our initial investigation has determined that a number of NFL players and coaches, employed by several NFL Clubs, sold Super Bowl tickets for more than the ticket's face value in violation of the policy,' NFL chief compliance officer Sabrina Perel said in a memo sent out to all 32 NFL teams. The 100 players represent a little over 6% of the entire NFL player rosters. But per an ESPN report, there are team employees, including coaches, who are among the number who sold their tickets. 'This long-standing League Policy, which is specifically incorporated into the Collective Bargaining Agreement, prohibits League or Club employees, including players, from selling NFL game tickets acquired from their employer for more than the ticket's face value or for an amount greater than the employee originally paid for the ticket, whichever is less,' the memo continued. Players and team personnel sold the tickets to 'bundlers' who were working with resellers, per the memo. Penalties will increase for anyone deemed to be working with the bundlers to help facilitate sales. Fines would be one and a half times what the player or employee sold the ticket for, and they would lose the chance to acquire them for the next two Super Bowls. There could also be suspensions involved. Some of the players involved have already elected to pay the fines. Those who lose their allotment would only be able to purchase tickets if they are playing in the Super Bowl. The league would not release names of players, coaches or team personnel who were part of the crackdown. Tickets for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, which resulted in a 40-22 win for the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, ranged in cost from $2,588 to nearly $3,500 for the cheapest seats. On the high end, some tickets were more than $10,000.
