Travis Kelce admits he 'slipped a little bit' given off-field pursuits
August 12 - Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce is the first to admit that his past two seasons haven't been up to par. His statistics -- while impressive -- back that up when considering the standard Kelce set in his previous seven Pro Bowl seasons. As the world knows, Kelce's life has been in a brighter spotlight given his highly publicized love story with the biggest pop star on the planet -- you've likely heard of her. Taylor Swift. Kelce, 35, also has made cameos in movies and television shows and kept busy with other off-field pursuits, such as his "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Jason. To that respect, the certain future Pro Football Hall of Fame member told GQ that some of that has impacted his play. "I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up. And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer," Kelce told the men's magazine in a cover story released Tuesday. "I don't say this as 'I shouldn't have done it.' I'm just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven't been to my standard." Kelce posted seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2016-22 before falling short of that mark in each of the past two. The four-time first-team All-Pro and 10-time Pro Bowl selection made 97 receptions for 823 yards last season -- his lowest yardage total since 2014. He also had just three touchdown catches, down from a career-high 12 in 2022. "I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys," Kelce said. Kelce will have that opportunity when the Chiefs open their season at home against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5. --Field Level Media

Thomas Frank AXES Spurs star from Super Cup squad ahead of PSG clash as Tottenham boss lays down the law
Yves Bissouma has been axed from the Tottenham squad for the UEFA Super Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain for turning up late – again. Thomas Frank has not taken long to tire of Bissouma's behaviour, which drew comment form his predecessors. Antonio Conte complained of his punctuality and Ange Postecoglou left the Mali international midfielder out of a game at the start of last season after he was filmed inhaling nitrous oxide from a balloon. 'He has been late several times and now this time is one too many,' said Frank. 'With everything you need to give your players a lot of love, but you also have demands and there need to be consequences. 'There has now been a consequence for this trip. I'll park it for now and we will follow up when we come home.' Bissouma adds to Tottenham's list of absentees against PSG but Frank has confirmed Dominic Solanke, who has missed all but one of the pre-season friendlies, is fit from an ankle injury and available for the game. Destiny Udogie is not ready to return but getting closer. Spurs beat Manchester United to win the Europa League in May, while PSG thrashed Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final.

Alexander Isak's rental home on market amid push for move to Liverpool from Newcastle
The house Alexander Isak has been living in just outside Newcastle is back on the rental market. The striker is trying to secure a move to Liverpool and it emerged on Tuesday that new tenants are being sought. Removal vans have been sighted at Isak's Ponteland home, which is understood to have been put on the market some weeks ago. The Sweden international started renting the property after he joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022. Isak signalled his determination to force a transfer by not going on Newcastle's pre-season tour to Singapore and South Korea last month and has been ordered by Eddie Howe to train alone. The manager also banned the Sweden international from a training‑ground barbecue last week. Liverpool have had a £110m bid for Isak turned down but remain determined to sign the 25-year-old, who has scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League appearances. He is valued by Newcastle at £150m but it would be a surprise if a compromise were not found for the move to go ahead. That is contingent on Newcastle buying at least one striker. A deal for Brentford's centre-forward Yoane Wissa is expected to be concluded this week and Porto's Samu Aghehowa is among other targets. Isak was handed a shirt number on Tuesday when Newcastle published their squad list, retaining the No 14 he has worn since he joined. Howe has no intention of using Isak in Saturday's opening match at Aston Villa – the manager has said he only wants players who 'really want to play for this football club'. Newcastle are also pushing to strengthen in other areas and have agreed a £35m deal to sign the centre-back Malick Thiaw from Milan. The 24-year-old should soon be confirmed as the club's third significant summer signing, after the forward Anthony Elanga and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
