
Intensive preparations in Sana'a Slaughterhouses to provide Eid Al-Adha Sacrifice services

The Capital Sanaa's Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets Authority has intensified its preparations to receive sacrificial animals during Eid Al-Adha and provide optimal services to citizens.
A total of 12 main and branch slaughterhouses have been readied, including the central Dar Salm slaughterhouse and Nuqm model slaughterhouse, supported by facilities in various districts. All are equipped with qualified staff, veterinary inspection teams, and sanitation tools to ensure compliance with health standards.
A three-part daily operational plan will be implemented during Eid, focusing on inspections, animal health checks at city entry points, and monitoring slaughter practices. Efforts aim to prevent unauthorized street slaughtering, especially of young or female livestock, and ensure environmental cleanliness.
The authority has also launched community awareness campaigns through brochures and posters on sacrificial animal conditions and hygienic meat handling.
Significant investments have been made, including:
Renovation of Dar Salm central slaughter hall (over 61 million riyals),
Procurement of new equipment (82 million riyals),
Ongoing feed plant rehabilitation (128 million riyals).
In Q1 2025 alone, over 15,988 meat outlets were inspected, with 376 violations recorded, 52 referred to prosecution, and 38 livestock and 255 poultry confiscated.
Officials urged citizens to use official slaughterhouses to maintain hygiene and prevent disease, warning that violations will be strictly addressed.

Sana'a - Saba: The Office of the Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets Corporation in the Capital Sana'a has intensified its efforts and preparations to prepare public slaughterhouses to receive sacrificial animals and provide the best services to citizens. The office developed an early preparedness plan and announced the readiness of slaughterhouses and their willingness to provide services to all beneficiaries. This includes the central slaughterhouse in Dar Salm and the model slaughterhouse in Nuqum, primarily for large slaughterhouses, as well as other livestock. Sub-slaughterhouses in the districts include Shu'ub, Jawlat Taiz, Dhafar, Haddah, Sana'a, al-Tahrir, Street 20, Daris, Beit al-Noum, and al-Rawdah. The preparedness plan included providing all facilities and qualified personnel to the central and sub-slaughterhouses, enabling them to perform their services efficiently and in accordance with health standards. Preventive measures were also implemented to ensure the safety of slaughtered animals and their suitability for human consumption. The Slaughterhouses Office in the Capital Sana'a has also prepared three daily work programs during Eid al-Adha for inspection and veterinary inspection teams at all the capital's main ports, the central slaughterhouse, and the slaughterhouse areas in the districts. This is part of a general plan to preserve livestock, implement approved health regulations and conditions, combat violations, and improve the environmental situation. The plan includes a mechanism for regulating the reception of all sacrificial animals from citizens, associations, and organizations, enhancing health oversight of livestock and ensuring their safety before and after slaughter, and monitoring field inspection teams to detect violations related to the slaughter of young and female livestock, as well as random slaughter in streets and neighborhoods, in coordination with the directorates, Slaughterhouses Office branches, and security agencies. In this regard, Ahmed Idris, Director of the Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets Corporation Office in the Capital Sana'a, confirmed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that 12 slaughterhouses have been equipped to receive and slaughter Eid sacrifices according to health and safety standards. They also inspect slaughtered animals before and after slaughter, and dispose of slaughter waste in a safe and sanitary manner. He pointed out that all slaughterhouse needs, including equipment, cleaning tools, inspection, sterilization, and water, have been provided. Qualified workers and veterinarians are also on hand to inspect the sacrificial animals and ensure their safety and freedom from any infectious diseases. To preserve cleanliness and the environment, Idris called on citizens to take advantage of these slaughterhouses and refrain from slaughtering their animals in the streets and neighborhoods. This is to preserve public hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases caused by waste. He emphasized that field campaigns will be implemented to detect any violations. He also noted the need to enhance community awareness by distributing brochures and posters to citizens, informing them of the conditions for sacrificial animals, the health of sacrificial animals, the proper handling of their meat, the conditions for sacrificial animals, and the importance of slaughtering in official slaughterhouses and maintaining cleanliness. The Director of the Slaughterhouses Office addressed the inspection efforts during the first quarter of 2025, including field campaigns targeting 15,988 meat shops and centers across the Capital Secretariat's various districts. During these campaigns, 376 reports were issued for various violations, 52 violations were referred to the Public Prosecution, 38 heads of cattle and 255 poultry were confiscated and destroyed, 63 weight violations were detected, and 39 execution certificates and destruction reports were issued. He reported that Sana'a Slaughterhouses Corporation branch conducted field inspections last year to prevent the slaughter of female and young livestock. These campaigns included 2,495 shops and 857 restaurants. 560 violations were detected, 46 violations were referred to the Public Prosecution, 29 female livestock were confiscated, and 16 shops were subject to administrative closure. Idris explained that a project to rehabilitate and maintain the slaughterhouse at the central slaughterhouse in Dar Salm has been implemented, at a cost of 61 million and 263 thousand YER, funded by the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects Financing Unit in the Capital Sana'a. He also indicated that a contract was signed for the project to purchase and supply equipment and machinery for the slaughterhouse at the central slaughterhouse, at a cost of 82 million YER. He noted that a project to maintain and rehabilitate the feed factory at the central slaughterhouse in Dar Salm is currently underway, at a cost of 128 million and 690 thousand YER, funded by the Agricultural Projects Unit. Martyrs' Foundation launches Eid sacrifice project for families of martyrs in need
Sana'a - Saba: The First Deputy Prime Minister, Allama Mohammed Muftah, inaugurated on Wednesday the Eid sacrifice distribution project implemented by the Martyrs' Foundation, targeting 1,500 of the most impoverished families of martyrs. During the launch, Allama Muftah praised the efforts of the Martyrs' Foundation in executing numerous projects, including the Eid sacrifice initiative for martyrs' families, as part of the Economic Empowerment Project carried out by the foundation. He called on philanthropists and merchants to support the Eid sacrifice project to enable the foundation to reach a larger number of martyrs' and missing persons' families. For his part, Saleh Al-Khawlani, a member of the Yemeni Scholars Association, commended the Martyrs' Foundation's role in serving the families of martyrs, emphasizing that the Yemeni people today live under the blessings of their sacrifices in defending the homeland. He noted that, thanks to the blood of the martyrs, Yemen stands today with greatness alongside their brothers in the Gaza Strip, supporting their just cause. He stressed the importance of continuing such projects and others in various fields, including education and health. In turn, Hassan Jaran, the Executive Director of the Martyrs' Foundation, explained that the Eid sacrifice project targets 1,500 of the most impoverished families of martyrs across various provinces, with a total budget of 200 million Yemeni riyals. He indicated that approximately 85% of the sacrifices will be distributed in-kind, except for four provinces: Lahj, Al-Dhale', Shabwa, and parts of Taiz. Zakat authority launches project to distribute 10,000 cash crop baskets
Sana'a - Saba: The General Authority of Zakat launched on Wednesday the eighth phase of the cash crop distribution project under the slogan "Food and Sufficiency," targeting 10,000 poor families. At the launch, First Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah congratulated the Zakat Authority on the launch of the project, which coincides with Eid al-Adha, especially since part of the project covers Eid requirements for poor families, including honey, almonds, raisins, sesame, coffee, and other crops. Miftah pointed out that the project is a bounty and blessing from Yemen, thanks to the efforts of farmers and producers and the efforts of Zakat Authority employees, reaching the poor and needy. He noted the launch of the project and the preceding packaging, roasting, and distribution of cash crop baskets to the poor, bringing joy to their hearts. Sheikh Miftah urged those in charge of the Zakat Authority to investigate and ensure that Zakat is delivered to those most in need. For his part, Ali al-Saqqaf, Deputy Director of the Zakat Authority, praised the farmers' initiative to pay their Zakat on cash crops, a right God Almighty has enjoined upon the poor, out of their good will, and hand it over to the Zakat Authority for distribution to those who deserve it. He stated that the project stems from the efforts of the Authority's staff and the farmers' initiative to distribute 10,000 baskets at a cost of 400 million riyals, with each basket costing 40,000 riyals. The basket benefits 10,000 beneficiaries, including poor families, people with special needs, thalassemia patients, war wounded and disabled, and members of African communities. Al-Saqqaf noted that in-kind Zakat is steadily increasing due to the trust of zakat payers in the Zakat Authority and its role in distributing Zakat to its legitimate recipients.
