Kolhapur: Both deputy chief ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar have skipped events hosted by each other in the past few days. This has given rise to speculation that all is not well between them.

Pawar skipped the inaugural event of the tourism festival at Mahabaleshwar on May 2. Then, Shinde skipped Pawar's
Gauravshali Maharashtra event
held in Mumbai on May 3, where Shinde was among the former state chief ministers to be felicitated.
At that event, Pawar had expressed displeasure over Shinde's absence, stating that Shinde should not send his emissary if he was unable to come. Pawar also skipped Sunday evening's concluding ceremony of the tourism festival.
At that event, Shinde's close aide minister Shamburaj Desai said that if Pawar had come, it would have been easy to get assurances for funds for development of Mahabaleshwar.
Later, on Monday morning, minister Pratap Sarnaik tried to dismiss "all is not well" rumours between the two deputy CMs.
Tourism minister Shamburaj Desai said, "The chief minister and both deputy chief ministers have given me a free hand to boost tourism.
If Ajit Pawar had been here, his finance ministry would have lessened the burden for us, and we could arrange two such mega festivals every year. But Makarand Aba (Makarand Patil, NCP minister) is here. We will take him to meet the finance minister whenever needed."
On Monday, transport minister Pratap Sarnaik, who was sent by Shinde as his emissary for Ajit Pawar's event, said, "Eknath Shinde was at his village Dare, which is near Mahabaleshwar, and therefore he could not show up for Ajit Pawar's event.

Ajit Pawar also had some other event lined up, and therefore he could not visit Mahabaleshwar. We are a Mahayuti govt, and all three are glued to each other."
NCP veteran and minister Hasan Mushrif said that Ajit Pawar was busy with his schedule and therefore could not visit Mahabaleshwar for the concluding ceremony of the tourism festival. He, however, said that Shinde should have shown up at Gauravshali Maharashtra event, which was to felicitate living former chief ministers, and the event was not political.
Meanwhile,
social justice minister Sanjay Shirsat
attacked Ajit Pawar for allegedly diverting funds from his department to Ladki Bahin Yojana. Responding to the allegations, NCP senior leader and minister Hasan Mushrif said that Shirsat was new to the cabinet and should have held a meeting with finance officials before attacking Pawar in public.
"In reality, Ajit Pawar cannot bring money from the sky. Nor did he take the money home.
The Ladki Bahin scheme was launched when Eknath Shinde was the chief minister. It is true that the state's finances are strained. This time, we could release the April dole in the first week of May. When we all have decided to run the scheme, and if for that funds are used, then it is the responsibility of all of us," said Mushrif.

Thane train accident: Activists seek new local trains from Diva to reduce overcrowding on Thane-Diva corridor

THANE: The Mumbra incident reignited long-standing demands for local trains to start from Diva, a move activists say could ease pressure on the overcrowded Thane-Diva corridor, which was second highest in commuter fall-related casualties last year. BJP MLC Niranjan Davkhare, among the first to reach Mumbra station, said commuters and activists requested him to push for Diva-originating locals. 'It's a justified demand. We will convey it to the railway administration and work towards it,' he said. Both Shiv Sena and NCP (SP) also flagged the issue, pointing out that despite a population surge in Diva over the past decade, very few trains halt there. Those that do originate from distant suburbs, leaving local commuters struggling to board. Dr Shrikant Shinde, Shiv Sena MP from Kalyan, called for launching Diva-CSMT locals and fast-tracking the extension of the fifth and sixth lines beyond Kurla. 'While the Thane-Kalyan lines helped, we now need to extend them up to CSMT to ease congestion,' he said. NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad reiterated his demand to start Diva-CSMT locals immediately. 'Mumbra and Kalwa's populations soared, but local services haven't kept up. AC locals are not the answer—trains from Kasara, Titwala, and Kalyan arrive packed, leaving no room for our commuters,' he said.

'Fake arena': Ahead of Maharashtra civic polls, UBT strongman Chandrahar Patil joins Shinde camp

THANE: Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde took a pointed jab at the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction on Monday, referring to it as a 'fake arena' and reminded his supporters how he floored his political rivals during the 2022 rebellion. Shinde was speaking late Monday at an induction event in Thane, where two-time Maharashtra Kesari winner and prominent UBT leader Chandrahar Patil from Western Maharashtra joined the Shiv Sena along with several supporters from western Maharashtra. The defection comes ahead of key municipal elections, adding to the list of high-profile exits from the UBT camp. 'Today, you've stepped out of a fake arena and into the real one. You've left behind the company of the cunning for that of the sincere,' Shinde told Patil. 'Though I am not a wrestler, in 2022 I floored my opponents so thoroughly that they still haven't got back on their feet,' he added, in a veiled reference to the UBT leadership. Recalling the period following his rebellion, Shinde said, 'I was targeted with daily accusations and insults. But instead of retaliating with words, I responded through action. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! He emphasised that the Sena under his leadership remains committed to the ideals of Balasaheb Thackeray. 'This is not a party of mockery and arrogance. It's a party built by and for grassroots workers. Balasaheb treated his colleagues as equals, but after him, some began treating workers like subordinates. They forgot that pride doesn't last forever.'

‘Have had no time to discuss in last 15 days': Supriya Sule sidesteps question on buzz over NCP factions reuniting

NCP (SP) working President Supriya Sule on Tuesday avoided a direct response on the speculation about the rival NCP factions coming together, saying she was busy with other responsibilities and had no time to discuss the party affairs. Asked if she is remembering 'dada' — her cousin and rival NCP head Ajit Pawar — on the Nationalist Congress Party's 26th foundation day on Tuesday, the Lok Sabha member told reporters that she has six brothers, and she remembers them every day. To a query on whether she will call Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to wish him on the party's foundation day, Sule said, 'I speak to all my brothers on different occasions.' The NCP, founded by Sharad Pawar, split in July 2023 after nephew Ajit Pawar joined the then Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government. The party name and its clock symbol were given to the Ajit Pawar faction, while the one headed by the former Union agriculture minister was christened NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar). There has been speculation that the two factions could be looking at burying the hatchet and reuniting. To a query on a section of the NCP (SP) having the same feeling and Sharad Pawar saying all decisions regarding the party will be taken by her, Sule said, 'I have had no time to discuss the party affairs with party leaders or meet my family for the last 15 days.' Everyone has the right to express their views and opinions in a democracy, she added. 'NCP is an organisation founded by Sharad Pawar and is functional for 26 years. Everyone, whether they are with us or not, has contributed to the growth of the party. There was teamwork. I am remembering R R Patil, who is no more,' she said. Sule recently led a multi-party delegation and travelled to some of the foreign countries to convey India's stand following Operation Sindoor, the parliamentarian said she will be leaving in the afternoon for New Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet members of multi-party delegations which travelled abroad
