Tottenham Hotspur Are Genuine Contenders For This Bayern Munich Midfielder: Good Choice For Frank?

Yahoo3 days ago
In a recent post on X, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Tottenham Hotspur are genuine contenders for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha. It has been claimed that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the Portuguese talent to North London this summer.
Palhinha's Impressive Form In German Football
The 30-year-old caught the eye at times for the Munich outfit in the previous campaign. However, he was sidelined for a lot of games for them due to injury. The Portuguese sensation took part in 25 matches for Bayern Munich last season in various competitions.
Palhinha anchored the midfield with conviction as he made 20 tackles, 13 blocks and 4 interceptions in the Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 92.4% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via fbref.com).
Palhinha's current deal at Bayern Munich will expire in the summer of 2028. Thus, it would be difficult for Tottenham to land him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Is Palhinha A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?
Palhinha is a good tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn't mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well. Palhinha can even use his powerful 1.90m frame to dominate the oppostion in the air.
However, the Portuguese sensation needs to add some goals and assists to his game. He is quite familiar with the Premier League from his time at Fulham and won't take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham.
We can expect Palhinha to add more bite and steel to Thomas Frank's midfield department. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at the North London club next season.
At 30, Palhinha has still got a few good seasons left in him to play at his best. Therefore, he would be a good choice for Spurs to consider in the short term. He has got the experience and skill set to be a real asset for Tottenham in the coming years. Hence, Frank should consider going all out to get Palhinha on board before the end of this summer transfer window.

Some Spanish media outlets had reported that the accusation was related to the ownership of a high-end vehicle. They said the 'false accusation is clearly made to damage our personal and professional image and to try to get us to make an improper payment.' The brothers said they are not worried about the accusation because they did nothing wrong and have faith in the legal system. ___ AP soccer: The Associated Press

From Old Trafford to Exile Since joining Man United from Dortmund in 2021, Sancho 25 has failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. According to Bild, Sancho's offered to reduce his wage to 150000 sterling pound per week to facilitate ermanent move back to Signal Iduna Park. Even at that rate, he'd still be among the top earners at Dortmund behind only Niklas Sule (£230000 /week). Sancho's Legacy in Germany Sancho previously shone at Dortmund between 2017 & 2021 scoring 38 goal in 104 Bundesliga games before short loan return in 2024 helping the club reach the Champions league final.
