Melaka first state to introduce 'lafaz taklik' document in Braille
MELAKA: Melaka has become the first state in the country to provide the "lafaz taklik' document in Braille for the visually impaired (PwD) community, as part of efforts to facilitate the process of declaring marriage agreement during their solemnisation.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof said the initiative marks a significant step towards inclusive empowerment in Syariah legislation, as it not only allows PwD couples to fully understand their marriage vows, but also reflects the commitment of religious authorities and marriage institutions to ensure justice and inclusivity for all segments of society.
"Congratulations to the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) for its efforts to support the PwD community by diversifying initiatives that simplify procedures for them to understand and declare taklik through Braille.
"This, in turn, serves as an example of how the values of Hijrah can be translated into reform and improvement, bringing religion and Islamic teachings closer to every level of society, regardless of ability or condition,' he said.
He told reporters this after the state-level Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M celebration themed "Membangun Ummah MADANI' at Masjid Al-Hakeem, Kampung Tehel, here on Thursday night (June 26).
The ceremony, officiated by Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, also saw the launch of the Guidelines and Procedures for the Management of Marriage, Divorce and Reconciliation among Muslims in Melaka.
Ab Rauf also said the state government has allocated RM86,000 to 12 recipients of the 1447H/2025M Maal Hijrah Awards in recognition of their contributions and service in strengthening the development of the Muslim community in the state.
"The recipient of the Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Award received an umrah package worth RM10,000 and RM10,000 in cash, while the other 11 awardees each received a 'Pakej Kembara Ilmiah' worth RM3,000 and RM3,000 in cash,' he added.- Bernama

'Israel would have killed Iran's Khamenei if given opportunity'
JERUSALEM: Defence Minister Israel Katz told media that Israel would have killed Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the war between the two countries if the opportunity had presented itself. "If he had been in our sights, we would have taken him out," Katz told Israel's public radio station Kan yesterday evening, adding that the military had "searched a lot". Former Johor Mufti Nooh Gadot named Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1447H
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Johor Mufti Datuk Dr Nooh Gadot has been named the recipient of the National Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M award. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, presented the award, which includes a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate of appreciation, to the prominent Islamic scholar at the national-level Maal Hijrah Celebration held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre here today. Nooh, 79, was born in Kampung Tekam, Pogoh in Segamat and currently serves as Adviser to the Johor Islamic Religious Council. He served as Johor Mufti from 1999 to 2002 and was appointed in 2008 as the Religious Adviser to the then Sultan of Johor, the late Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail. A holder of a PhD in Human Development from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Nooh has received several accolades, including the Johor Tokoh Maal Hijrah 2009 award and the National Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1434H/2013M award. Speaking to reporters after the event, Nooh expressed his gratitude for the honour. 'May this recognition motivate me to continue serving the ummah and upholding the syiar of Islam,' he said. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia Minister of Haj and Umrah, Dr Tawfig Fawzan Muhammed Al-Rabiah, 60, was named the recipient of the International Tokoh Maal Hijrah award. He also received a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate. Dr Tawfig has played a pivotal role in modernising pilgrimage services through digital initiatives and international cooperation, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 agenda. He is also recognised as a reformist in the transformation of Saudi Arabia's health and industrial sectors. A respected scholar, he has authored over 16 research papers in international journals and co-authored a book on high-speed networking, among others. Accompanying His Majesty to the event was Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar.
