Chanticleers pull away late to advance past Wildcats
Sebastian Alexander's bloop single scored Wells Sykes for the go-ahead run, and Blake Barthol belted a two-run double in the next at-bat to send the Chanticleers (54-11) to their 24th consecutive win.
Sykes also had a two-run single in the second that gave Coastal an early lead.
The game was a rematch of the 2016 CWS championship series, won by Coastal in three games. This is the program's first trip back to Omaha since.
Cameron Flukey got the win with four innings of relief, and Dominic Carbone finished it out for his sixth save.
Arizona (44-20) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth without a ball leaving the infield. The Wildcats took advantage of three hit batters, a bunt single and a groundout.
The hit was by catcher Adonys Guzman, who was 3-for-4, while Mason White hit a solo home run in the second for the Wildcats.
Coastal will face the winner of Friday's late game between Louisville and Oregon State in Sunday's winner's bracket. Arizona, meanwhile, gets the loser in an elimination game Sunday.

Antonio Senzatela likely returning to mound for Rockies vs. D-backs
August 17 - The last time Colorado right-hander Antonio Senzatela pitched, Aug. 1, his start lasted less than an inning. The next day he was placed on the 15-day injured list with a blister on his right middle finger, but plans call for him to be back when the Rockies wrap up a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon in Denver. Senzatela (4-14, 7.34 ERA) is expected to be activated from the IL to make his 22nd season start of the season. Nabil Crismatt will make his first appearance of 2025 -- and first as a member of the Diamondbacks -- and just the second start of his career to go with 113 relief appearances. The Rockies have won the past two games after dropping the series opener on Thursday night. Saturday night they scored six times in the eighth to rally for a 10-7 win. Senzatela has struggled most of the season, but things seemed to turn around when he beat the Minnesota Twins with seven solid innings on July 19. But in his next two starts, he gave up a total of 14 runs over 4 2/3 innings. Sunday will mark Senzatela's 24th appearance and 20th start against Arizona, a team he has faced more than any other in his career. He is 4-9 with a 5.61 ERA against the Diamondbacks. Colorado has won four of its past five games after an eight-game losing streak, and Hunter Goodman has been a big reason why. The 25-year-old All-Star catcher has hit safely in 11 of 13 games this month, and six hits were home runs. He blasted a 449-foot homer in Friday night's 4-3 win, and he leads the Rockies with 25 home runs. "He hits the ball a long way," Colorado interim manager Warren Schaeffer said. "He's just a strong guy that is having a really good year. His timing is very good. He doesn't seem like he's slowing down late in the year, which is a very good thing for him, catching as much as he has for the first time in his career." Crismatt, like Senzatela, has faced Sunday's opponent more than any other in his career. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in 15 relief appearances against the Rockies. Crismatt's only major league start came while pitching for San Diego on April 10, 2022. The Diamondbacks signed him to a minor league deal a week ago after his release from the Philadelphia Phillies. He appeared in 19 games for Philadelphia's Triple-A affiliate, Lehigh Valley. Crismatt pitched two scoreless innings for Arizona's Triple-A affiliate, Reno, before getting the nod to start Sunday in place of Anthony DeSclafani, who was put on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right thumb. Back in first place in NL West, Dodgers aim to sweep rival Padres
August 17 - The Los Angeles Dodgers have dealt with plenty of injuries this season, along with stretches on the schedule with play below expectations, and yet something about the San Diego Padres brings out the best in the World Series champions. The Dodgers will try for a three-game sweep of their Southern California rivals when they host the Padres on Sunday. After they held on for a 3-2 victory on Friday, the Dodgers turned six walks issued by Dylan Cease over the first two innings into a 6-0 victory over the Padres on Saturday, while regaining sole possession of first place in the National League West. "Obviously wins are great. We're going to sleep well tonight, be ready to (sweep) tomorrow," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "I'm just happy that we're playing better baseball. It just seems like we're playing clean baseball. We're minimizing the walks, taking walks, not making outs on the bases, and converting outs when we need to." In Sunday's series finale, Los Angeles is set to send right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the mound. Glasnow (1-1, 3.08 ERA) has not won any of his past 10 starts and yet has a 2.34 ERA over his past six outings and has averaged 7.5 strikeouts over his last four. In six career appearances (three starts) against the Padres, he is 0-0 with a 2.63 ERA. The Dodgers' offense scored five times in the first two innings Saturday and did it on just one hit. At the same time, the Dodgers recorded three of their first four outs on defense when catcher Will Smith threw out Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts trying to steal second base. The Dodgers are now 7-2 against the Padres this season and have a chance at the sweep after entering the series with a 10-14 record since the All-Star break. The Padres will counter with right-hander Yu Darvish (2-3, 5.61), a former Dodger who has made just seven season starts because of right elbow inflammation. Darvish is 5-5 over 15 career starts against Los Angeles, with a 2.27 ERA. Darvish had a 1.72 ERA against the Dodgers in three regular-season starts last season then went 1-1 in a pair of playoff appearances, while allowing three runs over 13 2/3 total innings. After the Padres entered the series with manager Mike Shildt praising his team's relentless offense, the Padres have scored two total runs in two games after they averaged 6.2 runs in five consecutive victories before the series. On Saturday, San Diego had six hits to five for Los Angeles and lost by six runs. "Listen, that was an odd game," Shildt said, when asked about three base stealers thrown out in the first two innings. "We had a plan, and they made some plays. And when you're down, it hurts a little bit more. But you know, it's an odd game when you outhit a team and lose 6-0." The Padres did not use left-handed hitters Gavin Sheets or Ryan O'Hearn in the starting lineup the past two games against left-handed starting pitchers, with both possibilities to play Sunday against Glasnow. --Field Level Media
