Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the state-level programme on the occasion of International Tiger Day at Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre in Bhopal on July 29.
He will visit the exhibition showcasing activities related to wildlife conservation and felicitate forest personnel for their outstanding work in the field of wildlife conservation.
Yadav will inaugurate vehicles related to wildlife translocation, rescue operations, and dog squads on this occasion.
According to the 2022 tiger census, India had an estimated 3,682 tigers, with Madhya Pradesh alone accounting for 785, the highest in the country, which is why it retained the tag of 'Tiger State'. Besides, having won the title of "Tiger State," Madhya Pradesh has achieved the top rank in the effective management of national parks and protected areas.
For instance, Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR) has been included in UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites.
According to the central government's evaluation report on tiger reserve management effectiveness, Pench Tiger Reserve ranked the highest nationwide.
Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Sanjay and Satpura Reserves were also rated as the best-managed reserves. These parks are known for their unique management plans and innovative conservation methods.
"The state's tiger corridors are well-connected to both northern and southern Indian tiger reserves. National parks have played a crucial role in tiger conservation through effective management and strategic relocation of villages from forest areas, freeing vast regions from biological pressure," said the Forest Department.
Due to rich wildlife, Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a major attraction in wildlife tourism. The number of both domestic and international tourists visiting the tiger reserves has been consistently increasing.
According to a report by the Wildlife Institute of India, Kanha Tiger Reserve has been declared the best tiger habitat in the country.
The reserve boasts the highest population of herbivores in India, including chital, sambar, gaur, wild boar, barking deer, nilgai, and hog deer - providing an abundant food source for tigers.

Land conversion hurdles stall RR MoUs grounding

Jaipur: The tourism department Wednesday held a meeting with the MoU holders of the Rising Rajasthan investment summit to address their difficulties and fast-track the grounding of projects. The department invited around 100 investors who already have land in their possession but were unable to implement the projects. Many investors at the event, whom TOI spoke with, said that land conversion has become a major hurdle even though they are eager to set up these projects and not lose business opportunities. "I have been waiting for the past seven months to get my land conversion approval despite having all the required documents," said an MoU holder from Bhilwara who is setting up a 350-room hotel with an investment of around Rs 80 crore. Similarly, a young entrepreneur who signed an MoU to set up an entertainment park in Bear is also facing land conversion issues. "We have land, but we cannot get it converted. The project has been stuck for over six months," the investor said. However, Rajesh Yadav, principal secretary (Tourism), said the focus of the meeting was to find out why they cannot ground these projects despite having land in their possession. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Method Helping Massachusetts Drivers Lower Insurance Costs in Minutes Policy Auto Pro Get Quote Undo "We had officers from local self govt, UDH, and other related departments so that the issues faced by these MoU holders get addressed, leading to the implementation of the projects," added Yadav. Gkp man cycles to Annapurna Base Camp, hoists Tricolour at 13,550ft

1 2 Gorakhpur : In a remarkable display of endurance and determination, 29-year-old adventure cyclist Uma Singh from Gorakhpur scripted history by cycling to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) in Nepal, situated at an altitude of 13,550feet, where he hoisted the tricolour on Aug 1. With this feat, Uma becomes the second Indian and the fourth cyclist in the world to conquer the treacherous off-road trail to ABC on a bicycle. The journey began on July 26 from the Vikas Bhawan campus in Gorakhpur as part of a Tiranga Yatra, following which Uma commenced his cycling expedition from Pokhara on July 27. Over the next six days, he braved steep ascents, relentless rains, dense forests, rocky terrain and slippery trails to reach the summit. He completed the descent and returned safely to Pokhara by Aug 3 evening. Uma described the journey as one of the most grueling experiences of his life. He said: "The unpredictable weather, rocky climbs, leeches, insects and the constant fear of getting lost in the forest — every moment tested my limits. Sometimes the trail would disappear under heavy rain. But I kept telling myself, 'Just a little more, the summit is near.'" Reflecting on the moment he unfurled the triolour at the base camp, Uma called it "divine, surreal and blessed by the grace of Maa Annapurna. " TNN
