2025 Ohio Football Predictions: Bobcats Ranked 71st in RJ Young's Ultimate 136

This isn't your average college football ranking.
My Ultimate 136 is a set of rankings that is fluid, but it's my job to look ahead and make a claim for all FBS teams based on what I know and why I know it. Here are the three pressing questions I started by asking when putting together this list:
Who do I think is good?
Why do I think they're good?
What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations?
Here is a look at where Ohio lands in my Ultimate 136.
Ohio ranking: 71
Last year's ranking: 117
Top player: S DJ Walker: Started every game for Ohio last season, recorded 53 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss and 7 pass breakups; named to Second Team All-MAC last season.

RJ's take: Brian Smith follows one of the toughest acts in the sport. His predecessor, Tim Albin, won at least 10 games in Athens, Ohio, over the past three years. Albin watched Kurtis Rourke bolt to Indiana and lead the Hoosiers to their most successful season in school history, and the Bobcats still picked up 11 wins on their 2024 schedule.

Ohio has got speed and experience in the backfield in the form of quarterback Parker Navarro and running back Sieh Bangura. They'll play behind a mostly new offensive line with just 20 starts by offensive linemen returning to the Bobcats' front five.

Report: Denzel Ward's shoulder injury not believed to be serious
Browns cornerback Denzel Ward injured his right shoulder in Tuesday's practice. Jordan Schultz reports that the injury is not believed to be serious, though Ward will undergo further testing to confirm. Denzel Ward injury update Tuesday night after leaving Browns practice
The story for the Cleveland Browns over the last few seasons has mostly been about injuries and the ability to either overcome them or failing to do so. Even this year's quarterback competition, won by Joe Flacco, and backup quarterback competition have been marked by how injuries have impacted them. On Tuesday, CB Denzel Ward left practice early with an arm/upper body injury that could have created significant problems for the defense. With CB Martin Emerson Jr. already lost for the season, losing Ward for a significant time would have greatly impacted the chance that the defense could carry the Browns this season. Tuesday afternoon, we received an update on Ward's injury. While not out of the woods officially, it seems Cleveland is expecting good news with their top cornerback: Ward started 16 games in 2024, the most in his seven-year career and led the NFL with 19 pass breakups, leading to another Pro Bowl season. The 28-year-old is under contract for two more seasons after this year after signing an extension to his rookie deal in 2022. CB Greg Newsome II is set to start opposite Ward with CBs Myles Harden and Cameron Mitchell listed as the primary backups.
