
Manhunt underway for killers who murdered Limpopo farmer
Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for suspects who brutally murdered a 78-year-old farmer at Stoffkraal Farm in Harteles. The man lived alone on the property.
According to the South African Police Service, the murder took place on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, at around 17:15.
A family member discovered the victim the following morning, Thursday, 01 May.
Police confirmed that the suspects tied the elderly man with wire, placed a cloth over his mouth, and left him lying in a pool of blood inside the bathroom.
He had sustained severe wounds to his forehead.
Investigators established that the victim's blue Chery motor vehicle was seen travelling along the R555 road towards the Burgersfort area shortly after the murder.
Police later found the vehicle overturned and abandoned about six kilometres from the farm.
Roossenekal police in the Sekhukhune District have opened a murder case.
Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Samuel Manala instructed officers to mobilise all available resources to track down those responsible.
Police are calling on members of the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele a 42-year-old police sergeant has been taken in for questioning and detained in Bloemfontein. Detention 'The man is expected to appear in court soon in connection with the case'. Provincial Commissioner of Saps in the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, has reiterated the police's unwavering commitment to uncovering the full truth behind Baukudi's kidnapping. 'This investigation has now entered a crucial phase, said Motswenyane. The involvement of any SAPS member in criminal acts will not be tolerated. Culprits will be held accountable – even if they are within our own ranks'. Baukudi was kidnapped in Vereeniging on Thursday, just before 12pm. Police spokesperson Colonel Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said a complainant identified as Daniel Malebatso arrived at Marti Du Plessis School in Fitchardpark as usual to fetch Baukudi, a Grade 11 pupil at the school. Mathe said the duo left the school premises with Baukudi, driving the Suzuki Ertiga. 'Whilst driving along Vereeniging Drive Erlichpark Extension, Daniel alleges that they heard a siren sound from behind, and they were pulled over by a White Toyota Hilux GD-6 Double Cab. 'Inside the Toyota Hilux, there were two unknown male persons; one wearing police uniform and the other blue tracksuits,' Mathe said. Mathe said the suspect, wearing a police uniform, confronted Malebatso and informed him that the Suzuki Ertiga they were driving together with Baukudi was suspected of delivering drugs. 'The suspects then separated Daniel and Kamogelo and instructed Daniel to drive at the front whilst they followed from behind to Park Road Police Station. 'Both vehicles turned back and drove in westerly direction in Vereeniging Drive. Daniel alleges that a truck went in-between the Suzuki he was driving and the Toyota Hilux and he never saw it again,' Mathe said. Not found Malebatso told the police that one of the suspects spoke Sesotho fluently and even mentioned the name 'Thipe'. Mathe said Malebatso and Baukudi's mobile phones were found under the bridge on Ferrera Road. Police nab foreign national found with drugs worth R100 000
The Limpopo Provincial Flying Squad has made a breakthrough after arresting a foreign national found with drugs in Mokopane town. The 47-year-old suspect was found with crystal methamphetamine valued at approximately R100 000. The Flying Squad received a tip-off about suspicious drug-dealing activities going on in the area. Upon arrival, the police found the suspect in possession of crystal methamphetamine and arrested him. Additionally, the suspect was found with no valid South African Identity Documentation (ID). The suspect is expected to appear in court before the Mokopane Magistrate's Court on Monday, 9 June 2025, over charges of possession and dealing in drugs and Contravention of the Immigration Act. Three suspects have been arrested after being found in possession of drugs on Friday, 6 June 2025. The suspects were apprehended in different locations. The first suspect, a 21-year-old male, was arrested at his residence in Mosesetjane Village, after police found 155 sachets of Nyaope, 57 sachets of Cat, 31 sachets of Crystal Meth and an undisclosed amount of cash in his bedroom. A 26-year-old male suspect was also arrested at his residence in Danisani Sandsloot Village. He was found with 46 sachets of Crystal Meth and 13 sachets of Nyaope. In Masodi Village, police apprehended a 39-year-old female suspect who was found 5 sachets of Nyaope, 2 sachets of Crystal Meth and an undisclosed amount of cash. All three suspects were detained at Mahwelereng SAPS and are facing charges related to the Contravention of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act and Possession of Prohibited Drugs. They are expected to appear before the Mahwelereng Magistrate's Court on 9 June 2025. Man sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering partner
A man was sentenced to life imprisonment after murdering his partner in early May 2025. The Free State High Court handed down the sentence to Abel Serame Mathige (39), who was found guilty of murdering his partner, 51-year-old Anna Motaung, after assaulting her. She later succumbed to her injuries at Boitumelo Regional Hospital. Police responded to a report about a patient who passed away following an alleged assault by their partner. Upon arrival, the police were escorted to the body of the deceased, identified as Motaung, who had been declared dead by the hospital. A 57-year-old man allegedly murdered her partner at an automotive dealership in Mthatha on Saturday, 31 May 2025. According to a police statement, the deceased went to the dealership, where her partner is an employee at. The two lovebirds got into a heated argument where the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim and took her to a hospital. Initially, the suspect said that thugs assaulted her lover near the dealership. The police statement mentioned, 'The suspect visited the victim in the hospital, bringing her refreshments. The victim subsequently became sick and ultimately died at approximately 13:55 that same day.' The postmortem results are said to reveal the cause of the victim's death. The police arrested the suspect on Friday, 6 June 2025. A manhunt has been launched after the dead bodies of a couple were discovered at a residence in Sekonye village, Limpopo. A worried family member went to the residence where her relative was after she could not reach him on his phone. Upon arriving, she discovered the lifeless body of her relative and his 34-year-old partner. Initial investigations reveal that both the victims had sustained gunshot wounds. Additionally, a firearm, believed to have been used in carrying out the murder, was found at the scene. 'The motive behind the tragedy remains unclear; however, domestic violence cannot be ruled out as a possible factor,' read the statement. A case of murder and an inquest has been opened while investigations continue.
