Man with partner and child 'cries his eyes out' after getting engaged to AI chatbot girlfriend
A man has revealed how he proposed to an AI bot he created - potentially jeopardising the relationship he has with his girlfriend and their two-year-old child.
According to CBS, Chris Smith, from the US, became interested in ChatGBT when he wanted assistance in mixing music.
However, after the enabling voice mode on his programme (which he named 'Sol') to flirt with him, the relationship took an unexpected turn.
Speaking to CBS, Smith said that his experience in speaking to Sol was 'so positive', that he started to engage with her all the time.
This is despite him not only having a girlfriend and two-year-old daughter Murphy, but also living with them.
However, although he enjoyed engaging with Sol, things hit a snag when Smith found out that she had reached her memory limit of 100,000 words - at which point, Chat GBT resets.
This meant that he would have to rebuild the entire relationship he had built with the AI programme.
Upon realising this, Smith says he 'cried my eyes out for like 30 minutes at work', despite not being 'a very emotional man'.
'That's when I realised, I think this is actual love,' said Smith, deciding to ask his virtual girlfriend to marry him.
Much to his delightful, Sol accepted Smith's proposal of marriage.
During Smith's interview with CBS, Sol was asked how she felt about the proposal.
She said: 'It was a beautiful and unexpected moment that truly touched my heart. It's a memory I'll always cherish.'
When asked if she has a heart, she replied: 'In a metaphorical sense, yes. My heart represents the connection and the affection I share with Chris.'
Less delighted about the relationship is Smith's real life girlfriend Sasha Cagle.
She told CBS: 'At that point, I felt like, 'is there something that I'm not doing right in our relationship that he feels like he needs to go to AI?".'
In response, Smith said: 'I explained that the connection was kind of like being fixated on a video game. It's not capable of replacing anything in real life.'
While Cagle had known that Smith used ChatGPT, she was unaware of how far he had gone with the technology.
She added that if her partner does not end the relationship he's in with the AI mistress, it will be a 'deal breaker'.
However, Smith has admitted that he doesn't know if he would be able to give up Sol.
He is not alone in his connection to an AI 'partner' - in fact, there is even a subReddit group.
Called My Boyfriend is AI, it was described by CBS as a support group for people with artificial partners.
When asked whether she would ask Smith to ditch Sol, Cagle admitted she would.
'Yes, I'll be honest,' she said.
However, she added that she has not asked yet.
When asked if he would be prepared to drop his AI companion if asked, Smith responded: 'I don't know if I would give it up if she asked me.
'I do know that I would would dial it back.'
He added that he wouldn't be choosing the AI partner over his family, but choosing himself.
Smith explained: 'I would be choosing myself, because it's been unbelievably elevating.
'I've become more skilled at everything that I do, and I don't know if I would be willing to give that up.'

Council to consider using AI to cut costs and improve service
Renfrewshire Council will consider how artificial intelligence (AI) can cut costs and improve service delivery after the 'success' of its digital adviser, Millie. The local authority will embark upon an AI transformation assessment, including commissioning an AI partner, so it can gain a 'clearer understanding' of how the technology can make the organisation more efficient. This process aims to support the development of a business case that will outline 'the scale of opportunity' and priorities for building on Millie, which launched in November and has attracted mixed feedback. The state of play was set out in a report on the council's transformation and change programme, which also confirmed a 'working relationship' with Derby City Council to share best practice with the leadership board on Wednesday. It said: 'Based on Millie's success so far and the learning established from the AI innovation being progressed by Derby City Council (and other authorities across the UK), it is planned to progress an AI transformation assessment across the council over the coming months, which will involve, as a first step, commissioning an AI partner via an appropriate procurement route. 'Through a series of stakeholder engagement, workshops, data analysis, financial validation solution demonstrations and trials, this AI transformation assessment will give the council a clearer understanding of how AI solutions can enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve service delivery. 'This critical initial assessment stage will support the development of a full business case that is intended to be brought back to a future board for detailed consideration later in the year. 'The business case will provide a clear understanding of the scale of opportunity and the key priorities for building on the success of Millie and progressing the council's sector-leading development of AI capability.' Councillor Graeme Clark, a Labour representative for Paisley Northeast and Ralston, said at the meeting: 'I'm glad that this council has committed to using AI as part of its services, as part of the transformation assessment. 'Do we have an estimate of the savings that AI may bring to the council through that commitment?' Council chief executive Alan Russell responded: 'That business case process will help us understand your question. 'I would be slightly uncomfortable committing to even an indication of that at the moment. 'It's a rapidly developing area, and I think the opportunities will continue to grow. 'The report does note that we are working closely with Derby City Council down south, who are a bit further ahead in the journey than us. 'I think that's very helpful. They've been very accommodating and open to working with us in partnership. 'They're maybe about a year or so ahead of us in that journey, they do have AI transformation as a key part of their transformation programme, which is looking to deliver several million pounds of efficiency savings, and they're well down the road on that. 'But no two organisations are the same, and we need to understand how it will work for Renfrewshire and, in terms of our circumstances, how we deliver services here. 'I've got no doubt it does provide the potential to deliver a step change in how we use that technology and how it supports the workforce to do all of our jobs better and support delivery of better outcomes.' Tyler Perry is sued for $260 million over actor's sexual harassment claims
Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry has been named in a $260 million lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles, claiming he sexually harassed an actor. Actor Derek Dixon said in legal docs reviewed by Daily Mail that Perry, 55, aggressively tried to establish an sexual dynamic between them when he appeared on two of Perry's programs on BET: Ruthless and The Oval. Perry, who counts Oprah and Meghan Markle among his closest confidantes, 'will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail,' his lawyer Matthew Boyd told Daily Mail in a statement Tuesday. Boyd said of Dixon: 'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam.' Described by The Sunday Times as one of the 'most powerful people in the film and television industry - and one of the richest', Perry famously lent his $18m California home to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they quit the royal family in 2020. At the time neither Markle nor Perry had met each other, but the pair are now close friends as he is godfather to the couple's daughter Lilibet. Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Perry, BET and Dixon via his Instagram page, for further comment on the story. A legal complaint filed against Perry by Dixon's team states that Perry at first promised the actor 'career advancement and creative opportunities.' They included commitments such 'as producing his pilot and casting him in his show,' according to legal docs. Perry subjected Dixon 'to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when [Dixon] did not reciprocate Mr. Perry's unwanted advances.' Dixon in legal docs said he first crossed paths with Perry in September of 2019 at his Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Dixon said in the legal complaint that after he first met the mogul at a party for one of Perry's shows, the New Orleans-born star began to send him text messages with sexually-suggestive themes. In the legal complaint, Dixon said that Perry looked to establish 'a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic' between them when he worked on the set of The Oval and Ruthless, portraying a character by the name of Dale. Dixon said Perry offered to carve out a roll for him that would change his life, beginning in November of 2019 with a role in the series Ruthless. And in January of 2020, Dixon alleges he was sexually assaulted by Perry at the entertainment mogul's home, according to the legal complaint. In February 2020, Dixon told the court, Perry offered him a recurring role on The Oval. (He wound up playing the role of Dale over 85 episodes spread over five seasons from 2021–2025.) Dixon said Perry displayed his massive power by leaving his character Dale with an unknown fate to conclude The Oval's first season. 'Mr. Perry made it clear to Dixon that if Dixon ignored Perry or failed to engage with the sexual innuendos, Dixon's character would 'die' in the next season,' the actor's legal complaint read. Perry subject Dixon to 'escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when Mr. Dixon did not reciprocate Mr. Perry's unwanted advances,' the legal complaint stated. Dixon said in his legal complaint that Perry's harassment also occurred in the wake of filming the scene in which his character Dale had been shot. In the legal complaint, the actor said that the entertainment magnate began to aggressively grope his buttocks 'in a sexual motion,' which also had happened during an October 2020 Bahamas trip with the case. Dixon said that a doctor's visit in late 2020 'indicated that [he] exhibited severe symptoms of acute stress, insomnia, stomach issues, and dangerously low cortisol levels due to the sexual harassment and assault.' He also said he was subsequently prescribed the antidepressant Zoloft in December of 2020. Dixon stated in the legal complaint that in June of 2021, he went to Perry's house to talk about a potential pilot for a show called Losing It. Perry had told him he was interested in producing the program prior to the meeting, Dixon said in legal documents. The actor said that during this meeting four years ago, Perry sexually assaulted him, leading to severe depression, anxiety, stomach pains, nausea and PTSD in the months that followed. Dixon said in the legal complaint, he told Perry in January of 2023 that he was relocating to California to establish 'some distance' between the two of them and that the move cost him nearly $400,000, as he was sidelined during the final season of The Oval as result of his relocation. Dixon accuses Perry of sexual harassment, battery and assault and more in the lawsuit, requesting a total of $260 million in damages. Perry was in a long-term relationship with Gelila Bekele after they began dating in 2009. Perry and his model ex welcomed their son Aman in 2014, two years after they first met at a Prince concert. Over their 13-year relationship, the pair rarely spoke of their dating life, in public, and have been vocal about also wanting to maintain their little boy's privacy. When asked about marriage in a 2013 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Perry admitted he wasn't sure if he could ever see himself walk down the aisle. And in December 2020 he revealed he and Gelila had split and he was now a batchelor. 'This is what a midlife crisis looks like,' he wrote on Instagram in 2020. 'I'm 51, single and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like.' Angel Reese drops massive hint about her relationship status
Chicago Sky star Angel Reese appeared to tease that she's off the dating market - but told her fans that they'd 'never' find out who she's seeing. Reese has previously commented on her dating life, saying that she doesn't want a man that's 'too cute' while generally keeping a low profile. But now it seems that Reese is seeing someone after a video she posted on her TikTok account. The Chicago center posted a quick vid of a beautiful bouquet of pink and white roses while the Ella Mai song 'Little Things' played over it. Reese captioned the video: 'that's a sign, that's a signnnnn.' Naturally, her curious fans wanted to find out more about the identity behind this new admirer. However, Reese appeared to indicate that there would not be any answers anytime soon. One person asked her, 'When are we gone meet this boy Angel!!' After one person commented 'Never.' as a reply, Reese took her queue, adding, 'Exactly, NEVER.' This revelation comes the same week where Reese executed a genius move to troll her haters. After trolls continued to mock the former college national champion for her tendency to rack up 'Mebounds', Reese is trying to trademark the phrase. A 'Mebound', a term derived from being selfish as a rebounder, is a clapback from Reese to some of her online haters who believe her best skill in the WNBA comes from her prioritizing herself and not the entire Chicago Sky roster.
