All three Pahalgam attackers from Pakistan are different from those whose sketches were released initially by J&K Police, finds NIA probe
The arrest of two Kashmiri locals for allegedly harbouring terrorists who carried out the April 22 Pahalgam attack has led the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to conclude that all three attackers were from Pakistan. According to the agency, the terrorists visited the homes of Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Hill Park, Pahalgam, and took food from them. 'During questioning, they have disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists involved in the attack, and have also confirmed that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated to the proscribed terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba,' a NIA spokesperson said. The breakthrough is a departure from what was previously believed about the identities of the attackers. Two days after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, the Jammu and Kashmir police had released three sketches – Pakistan nationals Hashim Musa and Ali Bhai alias Talha, and Kashmir local Adil Hussain Thoker. NIA sources now say the three men in the sketches are not the Pahalgam attackers. Sources said one of the attackers is believed to be Suleiman Shah, who was involved in the killing of seven employees of a firm constructing the Z-Morh tunnel on the Srinagar-Sonamarg highway on October 20 last year. His co-accused from the attack, Junaid Ramzan Bhat, was killed on December 4 in a gunfight with the J&K police. From his phone, police had recovered a photo of Junaid along with three other militants. This photo went viral after the April 22 Pahalgam attack and, sources said, was used by the J&K as the basis for the sketches. During the investigation, the central agencies and the NIA showed different pictures recovered from Junaid's phone to the two arrested locals, who recognised the men who had visited them two days before the Pahalgam attack. 'The fresh pictures were also shown to several witnesses, and they too confirmed their presence at the crime scene. All three are Pakistani nationals, including the Z-Morh terror accused Suleman Shah,' said a source. 'Central agencies and the NIA are revisiting past cases and trying to tally ballistic reports so a strong case can be built against these attackers,' the source said. Investigators are also looking into whether Suleman was involved in the killing of three Army personnel in South Kashmir's Kulgam district in August 2023, and in another attack in Jammu's Poonch district in May last year, wherein an Air Force personnel was killed and four others injured. Before the NIA arrested the two locals for allegedly sheltering the attackers, the agency had questioned more than 200 people, including pony operators, shopkeepers and photographers. 'Parvaiz had a common friend with a pony operator, and their wives shared details of the visitor at their house,' said a source. The NIA believes the three attackers came to their homes late evening on April 20 and asked them to pack food. Before leaving, they gave them some money and threatened them not to tell anyone. 'As per the probe, Parvaiz and Bashir knowingly harboured the three armed terrorists at a seasonal dhok (hut) at Hill Park before the attack,' the spokesperson said, 'The two men had provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists.' The two have been arrested under section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two individuals, including an Indian Army soldier, on charges of espionage and alleged links with Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).The arrests come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. According to Amritsar (Rural) Senior Superintendent of Police Maninder Singh, Gurpreet Singh has been serving in the Indian Army since 2016 and was posted in Jammu at the time of his Preliminary investigations have revealed that he was in direct contact with ISI officials and had been transmitting sensitive Indian military information to Pakistan using USB Singh confirmed that Gurpreet had established a direct line of communication with ISI handler Rana Javed, who has now been identified as the primary coordinator on the Pakistani side. Police recovered two mobile phones used by the accused to maintain contact with ISI operatives. Forensic checks and digital analysis of these devices have reportedly confirmed the espionage agencies are now probing the full extent of the spy network and are trying to determine whether the two suspects had ties to other national or international terror groups. Authorities are also examining what specific intelligence may have been shared during critical incidents like the Pahalgam terror attack or during times of heightened India-Pak border sources say Gurpreet may have had prior knowledge of the Pahalgam attack and are investigating what information he might have passed on to the InMust Watch

NIA chargesheets key aide of BKI terrorist Landa and gangster Batala in Punjab terror conspiracy case
New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted Jatinder Singh, a key aide of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Lakhbir Singh also known as Landa and dreaded gangster Pavittar Batala in a Punjab terror conspiracy case. Jatinder Singh alias Joti, hailing from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, was arrested by NIA from Mumbai on December 23, 2024 in the case, said NIA in a statement. NIA found during the investigation that Jatinder was involved in illegal procurement and supply of firearms from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab-based gangsters. He was facilitating the supply of weapons to ground operatives of Batala, a close associate of Designated Individual Terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa. Batala's foreign-based associates were coordinating Jatinder's operations in India. The weapons were being used by Batala's operatives in Punjab to promote BKI's criminal-terror activities. It was further found during NIA investigations that Jatinder used to procure illegal weapons from a known arms supplier, Baljeet Singh alias Rana Bhai, in Madhya Pradesh. Baljeet had already been arrested and chargesheeted by the NIA. The accused were using virtual numbers and encrypted applications to avoid detection by LEAs. NIA is investigating the role of Landa as well as designated terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and their foreign-based accomplices in the conspiracy. On June 12, NIA searched 15 locations linked with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror organisation in Punjab and Haryana. The places searched include Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Kapurthala and Rupnagar districts of Punjab and Sirsa in Haryana in connection with the January 2025 grenade attack at a police post in Amritsar district of Punjab, said the NIA in a statement. NIA said a host of incriminating materials, including mobiles and digital devices and documents, were seized during the searches, and are being examined for further clues to the terror syndicate of BKI. As part of its investigation, NIA, which took over the case in April 2025 and re-registered it as RC-09/2025/NIA/DLI, on June 12 searched the premises of accused and suspects linked to Mandeep as well as Sarwan Singh alias Bhola, currently based in USA, and his brother Mandeep Singh alias Makka.
