Among over 1,600 postgraduate and tertiary graduates of the University of the East (UE), whose commencement rites were held Monday, July 14, 2025, at World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City, are the school's latest recipients of the UniFAST Academic Excellence Award.
Each representing UE's Manila and Caloocan campuses and receiving the special award on top of their respective Latin honors of magna cum laude are Isabella Rianna Garay, who graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and Gekenzy Morales, whose diploma is in Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.
UniFAST is an attached agency of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) that implements the major components of Republic Act 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act. The program provides financial assistance to deserving college students who meet the program's specified conditions.
The UniFAST Academic Excellence Award is conferred upon graduation to one beneficiary-student per campus who achieved the highest general weighted average among their fellow UniFAST beneficiaries based on guidelines set by the university, and have demonstrated exemplary leadership, met the highest standards of academic excellence, shown impressive co-curricular and community involvement, and exhibited noteworthy skills throughout their academic tenure.
Representing CHED-UniFAST in conferring the Academic Excellence Award medals and certificates of achievement to Garay and Morales are Education Supervisor of the agency Dr. Annalyn Diaz and Promotions and Career Guidance Division Head Precila Chan, respectively.
This marks the second time and year for graduates of UE to receive the award.
The Commission on Higher Education recently retained the autonomous status of UE Manila and granted the deregulated status to UE Caloocan, both effective until September 15, 2027.

Sila Realty Trust acquires two medical outpatient facilities in Texas, US
Sila Realty Trust has acquired two medical outpatient buildings (MOBs) in Southlake, Texas, US, in a deal valued at $16.15m. The acquired portfolio consists of a gastroenterology centre and an ambulatory surgery centre (ASC), both of which cater to a shared physician group and patient demographic. The gastroenterology facility is leased to Cardinal Health subsidiary GI Alliance. GI Alliance is said to be the largest gastroenterology group in the US, with a network of over 1,000 physicians. In January this year, Cardinal Health secured a 73% stake in GI Alliance for nearly $2.8bn. The ASC is leased to a joint venture that includes United Surgical Partners International and Baylor Scott & White Health, along with a group of physicians. Baylor Scott & White Health is a not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas. United Surgical Partners International is Tenet Healthcare's for-profit subsidiary. Sila Realty Trust president and CEO Michael Seton said: 'The operational integration of the Southlake Healthcare Facilities paired with the strong institutional support of the tenancies are key characteristics that we seek in the triple-net lease healthcare facilities that we endeavour to own. 'The ASC's affiliation with Baylor Scott & White Health and the tenants' focus on the best possible outcomes for patients result in strong operating performance and, consequently, durable income streams for Sila.' Amazon overhauls Wondery podcast studio, cuts 110 jobs
(Reuters) - is restructuring the Wondery podcast studio by shifting its award-winning narrative podcasts such as "Business Wars" to Audible and consolidating creator-led shows into a new unit, according to a memo seen by Reuters. About 110 employees will be laid off as part of the process, while many Wondery employees will transition to other parts of Amazon, the company said in an emailed statement on Monday. Wondery CEO Jen Sargent will depart the company following a transition period, the memo said. Intense competition in the expensive podcast industry as well as a growing focus on creator-led video content have prompted audio streaming companies including Spotify to diversify their podcasts as they look to lower costs and attract more users to their platforms. "As video podcasting has grown in popularity, we have learned that creator-led, video-integrated shows have different audience needs and require distinct discovery, growth and monetization strategies compared to audio-first, narrative series," Steve Boom, vice president of audio, Twitch and games at Amazon, wrote in the memo. Wondery was acquired by Amazon in 2021 and has seen podcast revenue quadruple since then as the studio expanded its slate to include video podcasts and creator-driven series, according to the memo. Under the new structure, Wondery's narrative podcast studio - home to shows such as "Dr. Death" and "American Scandal" - along with the Wondery+ subscription service, will move to Audible, the e-commerce giant's audio platform. Its creator-focused podcast team that produces shows including "Mind the Game", "New Heights", and "Armchair Expert" will join a new Creator Services group within Amazon's Talent Services division. This new team will continue to operate the creator-focused podcast studio under the Wondery brand. "By making these changes, we can better support creators in monetizing their content across multiple channels," Amazon said. Bloomberg News first reported on the Wondery overhaul. Net sales rose 12.5% year-over-year to $264.7 million but missed the analyst estimate of $268.9 million. Sales growth was driven by a 10.8% increase in volume and a 1.7% improvement in price and mix. Net income was $16.4 million, reversing a net loss of $1.7 million in the year-ago quarter. Gross profit rose to $108.2 million, or 40.9% of net sales, up from $94.0 million, or 39.9%. Also Read: Adjusted gross margin improved to 46.9% from 45.9%. Adjusted EBITDA increased to $44.4 million from $35.1 million, with the margin expanding to 16.8% from 14.9%. Adjusted SG&A totaled $79.6 million, or 30.1% of net sales, compared to $72.9 million, or 31.0%, in the prior-year period. The company reported operating cash flow of $38.7 million year-to-date, down $9.1 million from the prior year, primarily due to one-time items and higher incentive compensation payments. Capital expenditures totaled $59.9 million through the second quarter. As of June 30, 2025, cash and cash equivalents stood at $243.7 million, with $396.2 million of debt outstanding. Ennis Kitchen became the company's most profitable facility. A new production line for bagged product is expected to be commissioned in Bethlehem in the fourth quarter of 2025, with potential retrofits starting in the second half of 2026. These upgrades are expected to reduce capital needs by at least $100 million between 2025 and 2026. Freshpet's household penetration rose 11% year-over-year, while its Most Valuable Pet Parents (MVPs) cohort increased 18%. The company added 1.4 million households over the past year and reported a 6% increase in buy rate. Store count reached 29,141 locations, with 24% of stores now hosting multiple fridges. 'Against a more challenging consumer sentiment backdrop, we continue to significantly outperform the dog food category – delivering both category leading sales growth and strong improvements in operations,' commented Billy Cyr, Freshpet's CEO. 'As a nimble growth company that is adapting to an economically constrained consumer, we are intensely focused on what we can control. That includes accelerating our advertising and distribution programs, reducing our capital expenditures, and strengthening our operations. On the other hand, we will be pragmatic about what we can't control, so we are revising our current year's net sales target and removing our long-term net sales target to match the environment we are facing today. We still believe we will deliver outsized growth for a long period of time, but we need to plan for the current economic realities. In total, we believe the actions we are taking position us well to create significant shareholder value and fulfill our mission to elevate the way we feed our pets with fresh food that nourishes all.' Outlook Freshpet updated its 2025 outlook, now expecting net sales growth of 13% to 16%, down from 15% to 18%. Adjusted EBITDA guidance remains unchanged at $190 million to $210 million. Capital expenditures are now forecast at approximately $175 million, reduced from the prior $225 million estimate. The company also updated its long-term guidance, removing its $1.8 billion net sales target for 2027 due to slower growth. However, it reaffirmed its other long-term goals: an adjusted gross margin of 48% and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 22%. Management anticipates the company will be free cash flow positive by 2026. The company expects to continue to deliver growth significantly in excess of the dog food category. Price Action: FRPT shares are trading higher by 8.15% to $71.22 at Monday's last check.
