
Workshops to develop contract farming implementation mechanism in number of provinces

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ministry and the Agricultural Cooperative Union launched four workshops to develop the mechanism of implementing contract farming for the agricultural season 1446 AH, for 30 agricultural cooperative societies in Hajjah, Taiz, Ibb, Al-Hodeida and Raymah provinces.
The workshops, implemented by specialists from the Agricultural Cooperative Union cadres, aimed to provide 160 trainees from the administrative bodies of the associations with the knowledge and basics of contract farming to develop and improve them so that cooperative associations are equipped to implement this type of farming, in addition to providing members of cooperative associations, agricultural authorities and local authorities in the districts with a guide to contract farming.
The importance of the contract farming workshops lies in enhancing efforts to activate the role of cooperative societies in marketing products and overcoming the challenges faced by the societies in this aspect, with the aim of reducing the import bill and achieving sustainable development.
The agricultural crops that will be covered by the contract farming program are "sesame, maize, dates, tomatoes, peas, legumes of all kinds, lentils, fenugreek, peanuts, black beans, ginger, turmeric, coriander, cumin, and lemon."
The importance of the workshops related to contract farming lies in enhancing the efforts to activate the role of cooperative societies in marketing products and overcoming the challenges of the associations in this aspect in order to reduce the import bill and achieve sustainable development.

Hodeidah: Workshop on Preparing Development Plan, prioritizing economic empowerment projects
Hodeidah – Saba: A workshop was held today in Hodeidah Governorate to prepare the integrated development plan for the year 1447 AH and determine the priorities for economic empowerment projects. The event involved the participation of heads of agricultural cooperative associations and district planning directors. Organized by the Planning Department in coordination with the General Administration for Development Research and Training, the Tihama Development Authority, the Agricultural Cooperative Union, and Bonyan Foundation—with support from the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Funding Unit—the workshop aimed to develop a comprehensive plan based on the actual needs of rural communities. Governor Abdullah Atifi emphasized the importance of participatory planning to draft a development map aligned with district needs. He highlighted that the success of such plans depends on community engagement and the effective role of agricultural cooperatives in setting realistic priorities. First Deputy Governor Ahmed Al-Bishri stressed the shift from traditional to need-based planning, calling for accurate data and genuine cooperation among all stakeholders. He pointed out Hodeidah's strong agricultural potential, which, if utilized effectively, could significantly transform rural livelihoods. Assistant Deputy Governor Mutahar Al-Hadi underlined that successful planning depends on a clear understanding of the local environment and the efficient use of resources. He stressed the importance of community engagement and institutional support for cooperatives. 155 Cows Distributed to Beneficiaries in Taiz
Taiz (Saba) – Today, the local authority in Taiz Governorate and the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit launched the distribution of 155 heads of cows and concentrated feed to beneficiaries from productive families in the first phase of the project in Maqbanah District, at a cost of 80 million riyals.
