With the high profile trial underway, many people are wondering if Usher will be testifying at Diddy's trial. The two had a close relationship as the singer started out his career.
Usher was one of Combs' earliest proteges after LA Reid signed the R&B singer to LaFace and Arista. They lived together when he was 13, and he recounted the times he had with the record mogul. 'I got a tutor, went to New York City, and he began to show me the ropes,' Usher told People. Diddy is currently undergoing trial in Lower Manhattan after he was arrested in September 2024. He was charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty. He also faces dozens of civil lawsuits from individuals who accuse him of using his power to drug, assault, rape, intimidate and silence people. His ex-girlfriend Cassie took the stand to testify about their relationship and the freak-offs she encountered. 'Freak-offs' were drug-fueled sex sessions with male prostitutes that could last several days and made her feel 'disgusting' and 'humiliated.' Many famous celebrities were name-dropped in the trial such as Barack Obama, and Kid Cudi testified about how Diddy allegedly torched his car.
Usher did not testify in Diddy's trial. It's uncertain whether or not he will take the stand.
Usher was mentioned in a witness testimony by Dawn Richard, where Diddy allegedly punched Cassie in the stomach in a restaurant in West Hollywood, Calif. in 2010. 'Mr. Combs punched Cassie in the stomach,' Richard testified May 19, according to NBC News. 'They were having a private conversation, and he punched her in the stomach. She immediately leaned over and left.' In attendance were the 'DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love' singer, singer Ne-Yo, record exec Jimmy Iovine and rapper Big Daddy Kane.
The Danity Kane singer also testified that Diddy had another altercation with Cassie after they left the restaurant. 'We got in the car to head back to her house,' Richard continued in her testimony. 'Combs grabbed her, slapped her, popped her in the mouth and told her to shut the f–k up. Everyone was quiet the rest of the ride.'
In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2004, Usher described what Diddy introduced him to as 'a totally different set of s***—sex, specifically.'
He told the publication, 'Sex is so hot in the industry, man. There was always girls around. You'd open a door and see somebody doing it, or several people in a room having an orgy. You never knew what was going to happen.'
Diddy's trial is set to conclude in July. Other people who have testified included Combs' former assistant David James, Cassie's mother Regina Ventura, hotel staff, and two male escorts.Best of StyleCaster

Monyetta Shaw-Carter's Birthday Hits Different – She's Celebrating Life & Love After A Stage 1 Breast Cancer Battle

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Today (May 31) isn't just another birthday for Monyetta Shaw-Carter — it's a full-on rebirth. After battling stage 1 breast cancer, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star's special day hits different. She is turning 45 and celebrating with purpose, power, and a whole lot of pink. 'I caught the cancer early, and because of that, I will be here for my kids,' she told People . 'There's nothing more important than getting checked often and early to protect your future. Our health is irreplaceable.' Her diagnosis came after she felt an unusual sensation in her left breast last September. She didn't find a lump but told People she had a strange feeling that something was off. She listened. And that instinct saved her life. 'It was literally like my body was alerting me that something was wrong,' Monyetta said. 'It's so important for me to share this story because I hope to inspire others not to dismiss their gut feeling. Our body speaks to us, and when it does, we have to listen. It can be a matter of life or death.' One month after that self-check, a mammogram confirmed she had stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. She underwent a lumpectomy in January and completed 16 rounds of radiation by May 2. Now, weeks later, she's bringing her loved ones together for a joyful, pink-powered birthday bash. Her party honors life, resilience, and sisterhood. Monyetta credits her husband, Heath Carter, for being her rock through it all. She also had the support of her ex-fiancé, singer NE-YO, with whom she shares two children. 'NE-YO was just showing up for me in a major way and just always asking and making sure everything was okay,' she recalled in a recent interview. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're gonna beat this.'' Her RHOA circle also showed up with love. Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Shamea Morton, and Shereé Whitfield all supported. For Monyetta Shaw-Carter, breast cancer is real but not unbeatable. So why not celebrate? As the founder of Keep It Classy Nails , a mother of four, and a businesswoman, she wants Black women everywhere to trust their instincts, take care of themselves, and live on their own terms. 'I'm stepping into this new chapter with deeper gratitude, unstoppable faith, and a whole new glow,' she wrote on Instagram. 'This birthday is more than candles and cake…it's a celebration of life, a reflection of pain & purpose, of healing, and God's grace. I've faced one of the biggest battles of my life… and I WON!!!' Sean ‘Diddy' Combs' posse threatened to murder assistant Capricorn Clark after his jewelry vanished: ‘They're going to throw you in the East River'

Double-cross him and you'll be sleeping with the fishes. Sean 'Diddy' Combs' former assistant detailed her chilling experiences working for the music mogul in court Tuesday — including how one of his goons once told her she could wind up getting thrown into the East River. In a scene that could have been straight out of 'The Sopranos,' a Combs bodyguard nicknamed 'Uncle Paulie' allegedly forced ex-assistant Capricorn Clark to an abandoned Manhattan skyscraper to have her take a lie detector test for five days straight. The Bad Boy Records founder's diamond necklace, bracelet and watch had gone missing while Clark was transporting them, she testified, describing how Paul 'Uncle Paulie' Offord came to her home and brought her to the empty Midtown building — where a heavy-set man chain smoking cigarettes and drinking black coffee greeted her on the sixth floor. 'He said if you fail this test, they're going to throw you in the East River,' Clark, 46, recalled in Manhattan federal court. Combs, sitting at the defense table flanked by his lawyers, shook his head as Clark described the wise-guy threat leaving her 'petrified.' 'I was told I was not able to leave until I got to the bottom of this,' said Clark, who worked for Combs from 2004 through 2012. The terrifying account from Clark kicked off the third week of testimony in Combs' sex-trafficking and racketeering trial – as federal prosecutors tried to bolster their case that the legendary music producer ran a criminal enterprise comparable to the mob. On her first day working for Combs, Clark said he took her to a deserted Central Park after dark — and threatened to kill her over her links to his rival Suge Knight, who managed Death Row Records when she had a job there. 'He told me that he didn't know that I had anything to do with Suge Knight and that if anything happened he would have to kill me,' Clark told the jury. Combs faces a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act – or RICO – charge that historically has been used to go after La Cosa Nostra. Combs' ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura, and other witnesses, including a male escort nicknamed 'The Punisher,' have previously testified about the mogul's degrading, drug-fueled and baby oil-drenched 'freak-off' sex parties. Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, took the stand to accuse Combs of bombing his Porsche with a Molotov cocktail in a bout of violent jealousy over his budding relationship with Ventura. Clark testified to two alleged kidnapping incidents, including one in which Combs showed up to her house with a gun and forced her to join him as he broke into Mescudi's home. The other alleged kidnapping centered around Clark contending she was forced to undergo a whopping five full days of lie detector tests over the missing jewelry before being told she could finally return to work. The California native said Combs' bodyguard, Offord, was also present when her new boss threatened her over her ties to Suge Knight, who was also the dad of her best friend's kids. Suge Knight — whose real name is Marion Knight Jr. — founded West Coast record label Death Row Records, whose stable of rappers feuded with Combs' Bad Boy Records troupe in the 1990s. He's currently serving 28 years behind bars for manslaughter. Another former Combs assistant – David James – last week testified that his ex-boss once hauled him to confront Knight, while packing three guns. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to charges that could send him to prison for life, if convicted.

50 Cent name-dropped during ex-Diddy assistant Capricorn Clark's bombshell testimony about rap feud: ‘I like guns'

Rapper 50 Cent was name-dropped at Sean 'Diddy' Combs' bombshell federal trial Tuesday — during shocking testimony that touched on the longstanding feud between the hip-hop legends. The Bad Boy Records founder had griped to his former manager Chris Lighty about his feud with 50 Cent after the two rappers left an MTV press event, Combs' ex-assistant Capricorn Clark told jurors in Manhattan federal court. 'I don't like all the back and forth … I like guns,' Clark recalled Combs telling Lighty in an elevator leaving the event. 50 Cent – who famously took nine bullets during a 2000 shooting in Queens – responded to Combs' alleged veiled threat with mocking faux fear. 'Wait a minute PUFFY's got a gun, I can't believe this I don't feel safe,' the New York City native posted on Instagram later Tuesday. 'LOL.' The tale from Clark adds yet another wrinkle between the hip-hop stars' beef, which began nearly 20 years ago. 50 Cent, real name Curtis James Jackson III, released a diss track — 'The Bomb' — in 2006 that accused Combs of knowing who killed the Notorious B.I.G. He has since gleefully roasted Combs over the torrent of accusations that erupted after the 'Mo Money Mo Problems' singer's ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura dropped a bombshell lawsuit outlining alleged abuse and degrading 'freak-off' sex parties. The trolling continued over Combs' racketeering and sex-trafficking trial, as Ventura alleged he once made her climb into an inflatable pool filled with baby oil. 'This s–t crazier th[a]n regular crazy,' 50 Cent posted on Instagram, along with two AI-generated images of Combs in a pools brimming with baby oil. He has said the proceeds will go toward victims of sexual assault and rape. Lighty, the manager to whom Combs allegedly made the gun remark, died in 2014 from a self-inflicted gunshot, police have said. 50 Cent, however, had hired a private investigator to dig into Lighty's death, Ebony reported. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty.
