Young Scot's dream of starring in horror film becomes reality

Rebecca, a fan of 1990s horror classics like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream, shared her dream to appear in a horror film with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The charity reached out to producer Jed Shepherd, who quickly connected with Scottish director Lawrie Brewster and producer Sarah Daly after seeing they needed a studio close to Rebecca's home.

Together, they arranged for Rebecca to join the cast of Mr Whispers, a retro-inspired supernatural horror film shot at Hex Studios' permanent base in Fife.

Daly handled the logistics and on-set care, organising travel, rest spaces and meals. Meanwhile, cast and crew, including lead actor Megan Tremethick and co-stars Dorian Ashbourne, Novarro Ramon, and Sam MacMillan, volunteered their time to bring Rebecca into the heart of the production.

Rebecca took part in a scene filmed in the studio's gothic stone chambers, transformed into a spectral character with help from Tremethick, who also helped manage Rebecca's costume and make-up.

After filming, the crew celebrated by having pizza together, Rebecca's favourite food. It was donated by Domino's and supported by local partners including Fife Creative Studios.
Rebecca also left with a curated bundle of Hex merchandise and gifts for her and her sisters, including books, clothing, and Owlman plush toys.

'It's never cheap to activate a film set, but it was worth every penny,' said Brewster.
'Rebecca's joy and talent brought something really special to the production. It was an honour to help make her dream come true.'
Mr Whispers has completed filming and will launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund post-production.

Oasis ‘shocked and saddened' after fan falls to his death at Wembley show

Oasis said they were 'shocked and saddened' after a fan fell to his death during their sell-out Wembley show this weekend. The man was pronounced dead at the scene after attending the concert on Saturday night. Witnesses described the 'horrendous' scenes after the man reportedly fell from a balcony during the band's long-anticipated reunion tour. Oasis said in a statement: 'We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. 'Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.' The Metropolitan Police have said that the man was aged in his 40s. Despite the tragic events on Saturday, organisers said the band's performance on Sunday would still go ahead. In a statement the Metropolitan Police said: 'A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. 'He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. 'The stadium was busy and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage. 'If you have any information that could help us to confirm what happened, please call 101.' A witness told the Daily Mail: 'It was horrendous. 'The guy fell from a balcony. Paramedics came rushing over. There was a lot of screaming and shouting. 'It was a big fall. God knows how it happened. It was so tragic. I don't know how on Earth it happened. 'It was heartbreaking. He was only young.' The fall happened during the latest in a run of stadium shows for the band's sell-out Live '25 reunion tour – their first since splitting in 2009. A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium said: 'Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert-goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. 'Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. 'The police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. 'Tonight's Oasis concert will go ahead as planned.'

Watch awkward moment Andrada confronts Ben for cheating on her as islanders cause chaos in Love Island return

THIS is the awkward moment Andrada confronted Ben for cheating on her as axed Islanders returned to the villa to cause chaos. Sunday's penultimate episode saw former villa residents return to decide which of two couples should be sent home, a day before the final. 5 5 The gang had to choose between Meg and Dejon and Angel and Ty, with the OGs receiving the most votes and harshest criticism. But before all the votes had been cast, Andrada brought some extra drama as she confronted her ex, Ben. The taxi driver, 23, and the nail technician, 27, vowed to give their romance a go on the outside after they were dumped from the villa following a public vote. But just days after they gushed over each other on Love Island 's Aftersun, the pair seemed to have already called it a day. And during the episode, Andrada had plenty to say to Ben. It all started when Ben gave his verdict on Meg and Dejon, who he had been good friends with in the villa. He said: "There's so many more challenges, there's a lot of distractions. "I know D, every time a bombshell came in your head was swaying a little bit and I definitely think you was open to getting to know them. I know on the outside world there is a whole lot more going on out there." Host Maya Jama asked how he had come to that conclusion and Andrada patted him on the leg and said: "I think he's basing it on his own experience there." Ben replied: "Didn't need that did I?" Love Islander reveals her hair transformation Maya asked what had happened and Andrada revealed: "So we came outside the villa he went exclusive with me, and he was about to meet my family next week. "It took one event where I wasn't there and his head turned." Ben replied: "I wouldn't say it turned." But Andrada was having none of it, spinning her finger in the air and saying: "360 baby. Turned. Just be a man, like if you're going to do it, do it with chest and stand on it." LOVE ISLAND 2025 - ALL the dumped stars so far LOVE Island 2025 is in its penultimate week. Mariah Carey review — dazzling vocals but a stiff performance

'Do you like the ensemble?' Mariah Carey asked the adoring crowd at her Brighton Pride headline concert, showing off a sparkly playsuit in the trans flag colours. 'The LGBTQ+ community has been there for me for so long through good times and bad. I want you to know I'll always be there for you,' she added, before launching into Hero. Phone lights came out, passionate screams drowned out the diva's voice and by the second verse several people around me were sobbing as dusk set in over Preston Park. 'Your voice saved my life,' one sign read — Carey is more than just the Queen of Christmas for her millions of fans. The singer is still able to hit that E7 high — holding her ear as she whipped it out for Emotions and Beautiful, backed by two female singers and a man dressed in white. She may be 56 but the six-time Grammy winner didn't disappoint with her vocals, even if they often weren't audible thanks to the word-perfect recitals from many in the audience. • Read more music reviews, interviews and guides on what to listen to next This could have been annoying, but the fans' devotion enhanced the atmosphere and added to what was otherwise a physically stiff performance. There has been much speculation online about why Carey barely moves on stage — is it a corset, her tottering heels and thigh-high boots, or a health problem? Whatever the answer, she is conspicuously immobile, dazzling instead with her vocal runs and perfect smile. Besides, she had a troupe of magnificent male dancers to do the moving. They filled the stage with their breakdancing, voguing and a burlesque chair routine. Some of these displays and a couple of instrumental interludes from her four-man band took place while Carey was off stage switching outfits, a process that took rather too long. • Mariah Carey: Ageing doesn't happen to me and I won't allow it But then she would make up for it with her big hitters such as Obsessed, Always Be My Baby and Touch My Body — the latter an especially appreciated offering from her mid 2000s comeback era and the song which made her break Elvis Presley's record for most Billboard No 1 singles in US history. For Say Somethin', her 2006 collaboration with Snoop Dogg, she had the dancers playfully touch up her make-up. It's a shame that after a show with many highs she chose to end on the rather dull Fly Like a Bird. 'One more song,' chanted a man in a Santa hat and jumpsuit with 'All I Want For Christmas' on the bum. August isn't the time for her biggest hit, but a more up-tempo finale wouldn't have gone amiss.★★★☆☆ Royal Sandringham Estate, Aug 15, Follow @timesculture to read the latest reviews
