Kill the Bill: Elon Musk declares war on Donald Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill'
, freshly unshackled from his stint inside Trump's government, seems to be channelling the same energy—only this time, the blade is fiscal discipline, and the target is
's so-called 'One Big Beautiful Bill.'

On Wednesday, Musk tweeted to his 180 million followers with a message that could've come straight out of Tarantino's trailer: 'Call your Senator. Call your Congressman. Bankrupting America is NOT ok! KILL the BILL.' Attached was a photoshopped poster of Kill Bill, with Trump's face clumsily plastered over David Carradine's and the bill clutched like a samurai scroll of doom.
The Bill in question? H.R.1, passed by the House on May 22.
A sprawling $4 trillion mega-package that extends Trump's 2017 tax cuts, pumps funds into border security, expands defence spending—and raises the debt ceiling to eyewatering new heights. MAGA Republicans call it 'historic.' Musk calls it 'a disgusting abomination.'
From DOGE to Doomsayer
Only days ago, Musk was working inside the belly of the beast as head of DOGE—Trump's ironically titled Department of Government Efficiency. Appointed as a 'special government employee,' he spent 130 days trying to trim Washington's flab.
Today, he's torching it from the outside.
'This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,' Musk posted on X. 'Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.'
He followed up with a flurry of economic memes, deficit graphs, and that now-viral Kill Bill parody poster, putting him squarely at odds with the very president who once called him 'America's Tech Da Vinci.'

Debt Slavery and GOP Dissonance
Musk didn't stop at aesthetics. He's gone full Paul Revere with PowerPoint slides. Calling the bill 'Debt Slavery,' he warned that America is 'in the fast lane to fiscal suicide.' By his math, the legislation could blow the deficit past $2.5 trillion and inflate the national debt by as much as $5 trillion—figures echoed, though slightly more cautiously, by the Congressional Budget Office.
'This spending bill contains the largest increase in the debt ceiling in US history!' Musk wrote.
'Congress is making America bankrupt.'
Some in the GOP are rattled. Musk was the largest Republican donor of the 2024 election cycle—and now he's threatening to fund primary challenges against any lawmaker backing the bill. 'In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people,' he posted, turning his money cannon on the very party he helped prop up.
Trump's Cool, Congress's Calculus
The White House, meanwhile, responded with Trumpian defiance.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shrugged it off: 'This is one big, beautiful bill, and he's sticking to it.'
Trump even posted a nostalgic screenshot of Musk thanking him for the DOGE appointment—equal parts reminder and rebuke. House Speaker Mike Johnson tried to reach out. Musk left him on read, then shared a video clip of Johnson's defence of the bill with a blunt caption: 'We need a new bill that doesn't grow the deficit.'
Senator Kevin Cramer was less concerned. 'I don't think very many senators are that interested in what Elon has to say,' he told reporters. 'It's amusing. But we're serious policymakers.'
Elon and Donald: The Fallout
Some men campaign. Elon Musk campaigned on something. What that "something" was, in hindsight, feels like a mix of politics, pharmaceuticals, vanity, and chaos theory.
The Ketamine Candidate
Musk's drug use didn't begin with the Trump campaign—it simply became more theatrical.
While the Wall Street Journal had reported as early as 2023 that Tesla board members were alarmed by his use of Ambien, The New York Times now paints a darker picture.
By 2024, Musk was reportedly taking ketamine so frequently it affected his bladder function. MDMA and psilocybin mushrooms followed, often at private parties across the globe. One image reviewed by NYT showed a pill organiser containing around 20 substances—some labelled as Adderall.
The effect? Public incoherence, private panic. What Musk claimed was bi-weekly therapeutic use looked, to many insiders, like daily microcosmic meltdown.
The Campaign Trail Becomes a Custody Battle
Musk didn't just endorse Trump—he practically embedded himself in the campaign. He appeared at rallies, brought his son X into the Oval Office, and travelled with the child on the trail.
Grimes, the boy's mother, objected—saying it violated a custody agreement.
But that was just one chapter in Musk's domestic soap opera. In February, right-wing influencer Ashley St. Clair revealed she had given birth to Musk's 14th child. She claimed Musk offered $15 million and $100,000 a month to keep it quiet. When she refused, Musk filed for a gag order.
Simultaneously, Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis was pregnant with two more of Musk's children via surrogate—reportedly unaware of St.
Clair. If his public persona was spiralling, his private life was already in freefall.
Governing with a Chainsaw
Inside the administration, things were just as unhinged. After Trump's win, Musk helped design DOGE, rented a cottage at Mar-a-Lago, and joined transition calls with foreign leaders. But colleagues quickly became alarmed.
He insulted cabinet members, showed up disoriented to briefings, and raised eyebrows at the inauguration with what neuroscientist Philip Low later condemned as a Nazi-style salute.
At CPAC, he donned sunglasses, accepted a chainsaw on stage, and delivered a performance that many said looked more like Burning Man than Beltway.
His exit in May 2025 wasn't shocking. The only surprise was that it hadn't come sooner.
Exit Wounds
Musk's departure from government wasn't a clean break. It was a scorched-earth retreat. He arrived as a tech messiah, a billionaire savant here to trim the fat of government. He left as a psychedelic Cassandra—raging on social media, estranged from his allies, and battling legislation he once helped shape.

Robert Vadra gave evasive replies, put onus on deceased associates: ED chargesheet in Gurugram land deal case
Robert Vadra, the businessman husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, gave "evasive" replies during questioning in a 2008 "fraudulent" land deal in Shikohpur village of Haryana's Gurugram, and put the "entire onus" on his three deceased associates, the Enforcement Directorate has said in its chargesheet. The ED also alleged that in the alleged money laundering linked real estate transaction, Robert Vadra exerted "undue influence" on Haryana government officials through former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The 332-page chargesheet mentioning these charges was filed by the federal probe agency on July 17 before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Delhi. Mr. Vadra, 56, received Rs ₹58 crore as "proceeds of crime" in the land deal, the ED alleged. Special Judge (PC Act) at Rouse Avenue Courts, Sushant Changotra, on August 2 issued a notice to all 11 accused named in the ED chargesheet before taking cognisance of the prosecution complaint and has listed the matter for August 28. The judge also directed that a copy of the chargesheet be shared with the accused. Mr. Vadra has been named as accused number 1, apart from seven companies linked to him and two directors of SGY Properties (formerly Omkareshwar Properties) named Satyanand Yajee and Kewal Singh Virk. There was no immediate comment from Mr. Vadra's legal team on the allegations made by the ED against the businessman. The case The case pertains to Mr. Vadra's company Skylight Hospitality (SLHPL) purchasing a 3.5 acre land in Shikohpur village in Sector 83 of Gurugram from Omkareshwar Properties (OPPL) at a price of ₹7.5 crore in 2008. The ED took cognisance of a September 2018 FIR of the Gurugram police to file a money laundering case in December that year. The police FIR claimed the land deal was a "bribe" to Mr. Vadra's company (SLHPL) so that he could help OPPL in getting housing licence in the same village from the then CM Hooda, who was also minister of town and country planning, by his personal influence as he (Vadra) was the son-in-law of the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi. "He (Vadra) entered into a dishonest or fraudulent execution of deed of transfer containing false statement of consideration and thus acquired 3.5 acres of land," teh ED claimed. "Robert Vadra through his entity SLHPL has purchased 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur village without making the payment at the time of registration of sale deed, and declaring that full and final payment has been made," the ED alleged in the chargesheet. It claimed the businessman issued a cheque of Rs 7.50 crore from his other entity named SLRPL (Sky Light Realty) to "misrepresent" the facts in the sale deed. "This cheque was never encashed and no payment was ever made by SLRPL at the time of execution of sale deed," the ED probe found. Mr. Vadra, as per the ED, created structures to "launder" the proceeds of crime generated out of criminal activities. It said the buyer in this case was SLHPL but the stamp duty was paid by the seller, i.e., OPPL. "The allegations in the FIR (Haryana Police) that Mr. Vadra has undue influence through the then CM of Haryana (Hooda) was evident from the fact that the financial capacity to build a colony in the absence of any financial details and documents were accepted by the officials of DTCP (department of town and country planning) at entry level for the only reason that Robert Vadra was the director of this company. "Moreover, the processing of file on the day of its submission by every official in DTCP in a single day and approving by the then CM of Haryana within five days clearly indicates the influence of Robert Vadra, where the government has to take such decision which have a cascading effect on the planning of the cities of Haryana," the ED said. It alleged Mr. Vadra acquired "proceeds of crime" worth ₹58 crore as the land was sold to DLF for the said amount (Rs 58 crore). This was done by entering into a joint venture with DLF Retails Ltd on the basis of Letter of Intent (LoI) issued by DTCP on 3.5 acres of land owned by SLHPL. The ED alleged Mr. Vadra transferred the illicit funds to his various entities for purchasing movable and immovable assets apart from making "conspicuous" expenditure. 'Evasive replies' The agency alleged Mr. Vadra gave "evasive" replies during his questioning and he put "all the onus on three deceased persons (his associates) named late H L Pahwa, late Rajesh Khurana and late Mahesh Nagar for acting on behalf of him". "However, no documentary evidences were provided by him to substantiate his claim," the ED said. It has furnished Mr. Vadra's statement in the chargesheet where he defended himself by saying that these transactions took place in 2007-08 and that he was a "novice" to real estate matters and dependent on his three associates (Khurana, Pahwa and Nagar), and whatever agreements were prepared were with their (three associates) understanding, experience and knowledge. "I didn't decide who should be representing or signing these documents, they were decided by late Rajesh Khurana," Mr. Vadra told the ED during his questioning in April. Mr. Vadra reiterated these matters were 18-year-old and he doesn't "specifically remember" these land deal transactions.

Zelensky wins Europe, NATO backing ahead of Trump-Putin summit: ‘Any decisions without Ukraine will be unworkable'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy secured strong diplomatic backing from European leaders and NATO on Sunday, as concerns mount ahead of the much-anticipated Russia-U.S. summit scheduled for August 15 in Alaska. Kyiv fears that Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump may negotiate terms without Ukrainian involvement, potentially pressuring Ukraine to cede territory in the ongoing conflict. President Trump, who had previously threatened new sanctions on Russia, surprised many by announcing the summit with Putin, raising alarm in Kyiv. Trump suggested a possible deal involving 'some swapping of territories to the betterment of both sides,' a notion that has deeply unsettled Ukrainian officials. Zelenskiy responded firmly, warning, 'Any decisions taken without Ukraine will be stillborn and unworkable.' He emphasized the need for sanctions and continued pressure on Russia following recent strikes in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, which injured at least 12 people. European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stressed the importance of inclusive diplomacy: 'Any deal between the US and Russia must have Ukraine and the EU included, for it is a matter of Ukraine's and the whole of Europe's security.' EU foreign ministers planned to meet on Monday to discuss next steps. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte echoed these sentiments in an interview with ABC News: 'It will be about security guarantees, but also about the absolute need to acknowledge that Ukraine decides on its own future, that Ukraine has to be a sovereign nation.' Rutte also ruled out any deal that legally recognizes Russian control over Ukrainian territory, though he noted de facto arrangements could be possible, comparing the situation to the post-World War II status of the Baltic states. A European official revealed that Europe had prepared a counter-proposal to Trump's plan but declined to share specifics. Russian officials reacted harshly, with former president Dmitry Medvedev accusing Europe of attempting to sabotage American efforts. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova disparaged Ukraine's relationship with the EU, likening it to 'necrophilia.' Pro-Kremlin voices warned that a direct Russia-US deal could sideline Europe and Ukraine, leaving them powerless against the terms imposed.
