Search expanded to 10km radius for man missing after car found in Sungai Tui
The operation resumed at 8.50 am today, involving seven firefighters from the Muar Scuba Unit, 11 from Pagoh Fire and Rescue Station, and 26 police personnel.
Senior Fire Superintendent II Norshuhada Amsari, Zone 4 chief of the Johor Fire and Rescue Department, confirmed that a land search is also underway. The victim's friend, Muhammad Syahmi Mansur, 30, recounted how he and nine others rushed to the location after receiving GPS coordinates from the missing man's wife.
Initial efforts were hampered by darkness, forcing the group to search elsewhere. The following day, they found the submerged Perodua Axia, identified by a sticker from the victim's car accessories shop. The car's front windows were open, and the doors were unlocked, but murky water obstructed further investigation.
Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz confirmed the discovery and urged witnesses to contact the Muar District Police Headquarters to aid the investigation. - Bernama

Missing woman found drowned after car discovered on bridge
KUALA NERANG: A woman who was reported missing near the Tekih Highway Bridge, Kampung Pinang, Pedu, since yesterday was found drowned at Jeram Tok Din, about one kilometre away. Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Aminuddin Mad Khozali, said the victim was found by members of the public who were camping in the area. Firefighters, with six personnel, proceeded to the scene and retrieved the victim at about 10pm. Yesterday, the woman was reported missing, and a Perodua Axia car, believed to be hers, was found on the bridge. Following the report, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was carried out by the fire department and police at the scene from 5.30pm.

MARANG: The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) has deferred to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) regarding the sentencing of motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin and his brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, for lodging a false police report. JBPM director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohamad stated that while public sentiment suggests the punishment was too lenient, the department respects the court's decision. The brothers were sentenced to one month in jail and fined RM1,500, a ruling that has drawn criticism for its perceived lightness given the potential harm to public trust. 'Some feel the punishment was too light, especially considering the damage to the credibility and safety risks posed by someone with influence. But we have to respect the authorities with greater legal standing on the matter,' Nor Hisham said after the closing ceremony of the National Firefighter Drill 2025 in Wakaf Tapai. He added that although JBPM has its own legal provisions to act, the matter remains under police jurisdiction as the primary enforcement body. Meanwhile, the AGC has filed an appeal against the Muar Magistrates' Court's decision, signalling dissatisfaction with the sentence. In a separate incident, JBPM Perak has suspended a volunteer firefighter linked to a viral lewd video. Nor Hisham clarified that the individual is not a full-time staff member but acknowledged the damage to the department's reputation. 'It's deeply disappointing when someone from our ranks engages in such behaviour. Man held after hour-long high-speed chase in Kuching
KUALA LUMPUR: A 31-year-old man was arrested after a nearly hour-long high-speed chase from Kota Samarahan to Lorong 6 in Stampin Tengah, Kuching, early this morning. Kota Samarahan police chief Superintendent Damataries Lautin said the incident occurred about 2.50am, when a team from the Kota Samarahan police station and the Mobile Patrol Vehicle unit were conducting crime prevention patrols behind Roxy Hotel Aiman in Kuching. "Our team spotted a Perodua Axia that was suspicious. When we tried to inspect the vehicle, the driver sped off and refused to cooperate despite repeated instructions through the loudspeaker to stop," he was reported as saying in a statement today. The suspect's vehicle was seen heading for Kampung Sindang before turning back to the Aiman Mall area and later moving towards the Kuching police headquarters' administrative area. In his attempt to flee, the suspect rammed into a police pickup truck, damaging its rear door. Police then sought help from the Kuching police headquarters' MPV unit, the urban patroluUnit and Sentral 10 to block the escape route. "The suspect stopped his vehicle in Lorong 6 in Stampin Tengah and tried to flee into nearby bushes, but was apprehended." A body search found no prohibited items, and checks revealed the vehicle was not reported stolen. Police seized the car as evidence. Damataries said the suspect had several prior records for burglary and drug-related offences in Simunjan. "The suspect was taken to the Kota Samarahan police station for further investigation under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duty. "During the arrest, the suspect acted aggressively, forcing our personnel to use minimal force. No injuries were reported." Police have urged the public not to speculate on the case and allow investigations to proceed fairly and transparently.
