GOF foils smuggling of 16,000kg pork carcasses in Kelantan
The interception occurred along Jalan Besar Kampung Apal on the Kelantan-Terengganu Highway during a routine inspection.
Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid confirmed the lorries lacked valid documentation for the meat.
Authorities suspect the pork originated from Thailand and was destined for local markets in Malaysia.
Three individuals, including two drivers and a lorry attendant, were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt.
All suspects are Indian nationals aged between 23 and 46 years old.
The seized items, including the two lorries, have an estimated total value of RM1.04 million.
The Terengganu Veterinary Department has taken custody of the confiscated goods for further investigation.
The case is being probed under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953, which regulates the import and export of animal products.

The doctor said she needs about one month to recover,' her father added. When Desperation Turns Deadly The attack happened at 10 pm near Ratchaprasong intersection, a busy tourist area. Police identified the attacker as Warakorn Pabtaisong, 30, from Sa Kaeo province. Witnesses saw Warakorn talking to the couple earlier. Later, when the tourists were sitting on the mall steps, he came back, poured paint thinner on them and set them on fire as they tried to run. People nearby stopped the attacker and held him until the police came. Warakorn admitted to the attack but said he had nothing against the victims-he was stressed because he had no job and was hungry. Thailand Rushes to Contain Fallout The former boxer used to work as a security guard but was recently fired. He told police he hadn't eaten all day. Police found a 1.5-litre bottle of paint thinner and a lighter at the scene. Drug tests on Warakorn were negative. He now faces charges of attempted bodily harm. Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Sorawong Thienthong has ordered stricter security measures in tourist areas and is collaborating with Malaysian officials and hospitals to assist the victims. The ministry is also investigating compensation for the injured tourists and has deployed staff to monitor their treatment. KUALA LUMPUR: A viral video purportedly showing the Malaysian flag flown upside down at a company's premises in Bandar Pinggiran Subang, Shah Alam, has been confirmed to be from an incident that occurred last year. Sungai Buloh Police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the premises over the past few days showed the Malaysian flag was flown correctly, contrary to what was depicted in the viral video. "The 2024 incident occurred when a newly purchased Malaysian flag was being put up, but the mistake was corrected once it was noticed. However, the video was reshared this year by a TikTok user. SUNGAI BULOH: Police have confirmed that a viral video showing the Malaysian flag flown upside down is linked to an incident that occurred last year. In a statement, Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a police report was lodged by a 40-year-old man who works as a project manager at the company featured in the video, located in Bandar Pinggiran Subang. The complainant claimed the video and accompanying comments on social media were defamatory and misrepresented the company's current status. "Following an investigation, police reviewed CCTV footage and interviewed company employees. "We found that the upside-down flag incident occurred last year, when a newly purchased flag was installed incorrectly. "However, the error was promptly corrected at the time," said Hafiz. He added that the company has not been operating for the past two days, and the video in question was re-shared by a TikTok user. As of 7pm on Saturday, the video had received 5,332 comments and 2,515 shares. Hafiz emphasised that flying the Malaysian flag upside down is a serious matter, as it represents a symbol of national sovereignty. He warned that such mistakes, whether intentional or accidental, could be seen as disrespectful to the nation and may provoke public anger. He also advised the public to use social media responsibly and to avoid uploading or spreading false or defamatory content. "Social media platforms must be used with care. Irresponsible posts can mislead the public and cause unnecessary unrest," he said.
