Former Wrexham and Newport County defender Ben Tozer has announced his retirement from football.
Having helped Cheltenham Town win League Two in 2020-21, centre-back Tozer was a pivotal figure as Wrexham gained back-to-back promotions in 2023 and 2024.

The 35-year-old - who also had stints with Swindon Town, Newcastle United, Northampton Town, Colchester United and Yeovil Town - ended his career with Forest Green Rovers.
"Yeah, retiring, hanging my boots up, whatever you want to call it," he told The Football Fill-In.
"I think you know when you know. If you're honest with yourself, that's when you've got to look at yourself and think 'it's too much to go again'. I'm just ready to finish."
Plymouth-born Tozer made his senior debut with Swindon in 2007 before joining Newcastle a year later.
He made two first-team appearances for the Magpies before joining Northampton permanently in 2011 following two loan stints with the Cobblers.

Following a brief loan spell with Colchester, Tozer made the switch to Yeovil for the 2015-16 season before spending two campaigns at Newport.
He featured 76 times for the Exiles, scoring four goals, before leaving Rodney Parade for Cheltenham in 2018.
Tozer captained the Robins and played every minute of every league game as they won the 2020-21 League Two title.
He became a real favourite in north Wales as he made 136 appearances for Wrexham, scoring seven goals and helping them secure two of their three promotions under Phil Parkinson.
Tozer's final season in football saw him make 34 appearances in all competitions for Forest Green Rovers last season - with Tozer being captain in just under half of those.

"I've enjoyed a lot of it, it's been hard as well," Tozer added.
"I've loved it. Especially the memories that I've made, what I've managed to achieve. I'm happy, I'm proud of myself."
Wrexham wrote on X: "A fantastic career and wishing you the very best in your retirement."

'Final defeat feels raw'

Southend United will reflect with pride on their journey to the National League's promotion final but it may take some time, according to boss Kevin Maher. The Shrimpers were within 29 minutes of a return to the EFL before going down 3-2 in extra time to Oldham Athletic at Wembley Stadium. Advertisement The Essex side have endured a troubled recent history, including a number of winding-up petitions, transfer embargoes, relegation to non-league football, and continued ownership issues before being taken over last July. "What we've all been through at this club, you shouldn't have to go through those sorts of things," Maher told BBC Sport. "When we reflect we should be proud as a football club to see how far we've come in such a short period of time - but it's pretty raw because as a professional you want to win." Southend only secured their play-off place on the final day of the regular season before coming through extra time to beat Rochdale 4-3 in their play-off eliminator, and then squeezing past Forest Green Rovers on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the semi-finals. Advertisement They led twice in the Wembley showpiece in front of a record crowd of 52,115 with an own goal from Oldham's Manny Monthe and then Leon Chambers-Parillon's header in the first minute of extra time. But, after Joe Garner had levelled from the penalty spot early in the second half, James Norwood and Kian Harratt scored in the space of two minutes in extra time to send Oldham back to the EFL after a three-year absence. "There were so many momentum shifts in the game," Maher, the former Southend midfielder, said. "At 2-1 I thought we might go and get the third, and if you do that it probably puts it to the bed." Advertisement Maher congratulated Oldham in his post-match press conference and added his voice to the calls for a third promotion spot from the National League. "There's a bottleneck at this level, and this game tells you everything about the standard and quality in the league. "In the National league you've got to be better than 22 teams and only the top one goes up automatically, while in League Two you've only got to be better than 20 sides – it should be three up, of course it should. "Whether it gets voted in or not I don't know, people say it's like turkeys voting for Christmas."

Forgotten Liverpool striker set for MOMENTOUS Wrexham move

Danny Ings set for Championship move Danny Ings, who made 25 appearances for Liverpool's first team, left Merseyside in 2019 to join Southampton. During his time with the Saints Ings thrived, even earning a call up to the England squad, but the 32-year-old's career stuttered when he swapped Southampton for Aston Villa in 2021. Advertisement Ings has only managed to score 19 goals in 121 matches for Villa and West Ham since he left the south coast, but now the former Red may have a chance to revive his career. According to the Daily Mail, Championship newcomers Wrexham – famously owned by Hollywood duo Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds – are interested in bringing Ings in this summer, with the striker's contract at West Ham set to expire at the end of June. The report states that Wrexham's A-list owners are desperate to reach the Premier League and that they believe targeting experienced top-flight players will help them achieve that goal. Ings showed flashes of brilliance whilst at Liverpool, but if he can rediscover his Southampton form he will be a shrewd addition for the north Wales side. Advertisement The striker's current West Ham teammate, Aaron Cresswell, spent time in Liverpool's academy before moving to Tranmere aged 15 and is also named in the report as a player of interest for Wrexham. Cresswell has played over 300 Premier League matches and is also due to leave East London on a free transfer this summer.

McGoldrick turns down Notts County deal

David McGoldrick scored 29 league goals in 73 appearances in his second spell at Meadow Lane [Rex Features] David McGoldrick has rejected the offer of a new contract at Notts County, the club have confirmed. The 37-year-old former Republic of Ireland international forward, who returned to his boyhood club in 2023, scored 17 goals in 35 appearances this season as the Magpies reached the League Two play-offs. Advertisement McGoldrick has scored 180 goals in a career spanning more than 600 appearances across more than 20 seasons and counts Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Derby County among his former clubs. His final appearance for County came in the play-off semi-final first-leg defeat against Wimbledon at Meadow Lane, where he limped off late on with an injury that ruled him out of the return leg, which the Dons also won 1-0. A statement from the Magpies board of directors read: "While we're of course disappointed to be losing a player of David's quality and character, he leaves having given us many fantastic memories over the last two years. "Unfortunately we have been unable to reach an agreement on this occasion, but everyone at Meadow Lane thanks David wholeheartedly for his charismatic performances, wonderful goals, leadership and dedication. Advertisement "It was special to see him realise his dream of returning to Meadow Lane and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his brilliant career." McGoldrick has been strongly linked with a move to County's League Two rivals MK Dons who are managed by his former Rams boss Paul Warne and this week completed the signing of hMcGoldrick's former team-mate Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
