Jon Rahm Shades His Masters Win with Glaring Take on Team Golf

In professional golf, nothing is more cherished than a major title, especially when it comes to the Masters Tournament. When a major winner claims that he or she values any other component of their career more than those victories, disbelief is the least they can expect.
Jon Rahm just did that.
Speaking at the site of the LIV Golf Korea event, the winner of the 2021 US Open and 2023 Masters Tournament revealed the source of his favorite golf memories. To the surprise of many, it's nowhere near to Augusta National or Torrey Pines:
"Something I always enjoyed, my whole life I've been part of a team until I turned professional," Rahm said.
"All of my fondest memories in golf, all the ones I remembered as the most fun was when we accomplished something as a team. It was a lot more fun to celebrate together."

Jon Rahm of Spain poses with the Masters trophy during the Green Jacket Ceremony after winning the 2023 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 09, 2023 in Augusta, Georgia. The comments may surprise you when you consider that LIV Golf, where Rahm has been playing since 2024, has among its main particularities the existence of 13 teams competing alongside the individual tournament. The Spaniard is the captain of Legion XIII, one of the current most successful teams in the league, if not the most successful.
"What about his majors?" you might think. Well, two years ago, during his winner's press conference at Augusta National, Rahm had the opportunity to talk about his two major titles, as he became the first European to win both the Masters and the US Open.
"I find it hard to believe, the first one," he said. "You know, there's -- if there's anything better than accomplishing something like this, is making history."
Nevertheless, Rahm elaborated on his feelings about team golf, pointing out the lack of it at the professional stage:
"The only team event we ever had as pros being Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, and it used to be the World Cup," he said. "Now the Olympics isn't even a team sport. It might be coming up in the future. We didn't have a lot of experience."
To be fair, Rahm did not completely dismiss individual wins during his recent press conference in Korea:
"Even though individual wins are great and you have your own individual team, it's not the same as sharing the stage with someone and celebrating those wins," he said.

But, it does look like he forgot to mention the only team event on the PGA Tour, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. It's a tournament the Spaniard has played three times and even won in 2019, teaming up with Ryan Palmer.
It's a forgivable omission considering the Spaniard has won 21 other non-team professional events in his career.
Rahm is not the first LIV player to express similar views recently. Early last March, two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson said that what he's doing with LIV Golf is "the greatest thing he's ever done in golf."

Christian Horner Under Fire As Council May Tear Down Luxury Mansion Renovations

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Former Red Bull Racing CEO and team principal Christian Horner and his wife Geri Halliwell-Horner are under fire after recent planning permission issues at their Oxford mansion. The couple live in a grade II listed property, a former vicarage in Marston St Lawrence, in Oxfordshire. With plans now going ahead for the construction oak-framed pergola and gazebo in April of this year, it's been reported that the couple didn't receive planning consent, not only due to the listed nature of the property, but also the fact it's in a designated conservation area. Because of this, planning in a necessity. On top of this, construction is also ongoing on an outdoor kitchen, which will be built alongside an existing helipad, orangery, stables, boating lake and two swimming pools. Christian Horner, Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing in the Team Principals Press Conference during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Great Britain at Silverstone Circuit on July 04, 2025 in Northampton, England. MoreAccording to a report from the Daily Mail, the local council can order the family to demolish any work that has been done to the property without permission. The Horners are applying for retrospective planning permission, but it can still be rejected despite the work already being started. The family applied for this retrospective planning permission the day before he was dropped from Red Bull after a string of disappointing results. "Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today," Red Bull GmBH said in a statement. Horner followed this up with a heartfelt post to the team's many fans and followers: "After an incredible journey of twenty years together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the Team I have absolutely loved. Every one of you, the amazing people at the factory, have been the heart and soul of everything that we have achieved. Win and lose, every step of the way, we have stood by each other as one and I will never forget that. It's been a privilege being part of and leading this epic Team and I am so proud of our collective accomplishments and you all. "Thanks to the amazing partners and fans who enabled us to go racing. Your support has helped grow the team from its humble beginnings to an F1 powerhouse that laid claim to 6 Constructors Championships and 8 Drivers Championships. "Equally, thank you to our rivals, with whom there would be no racing at all. You've pushed us, challenged us, and enabled us to achieve accolades we never dreamed possible. The competition has made every victory sweeter and every setback an opportunity to develop and grow. "Formula 1 is a sport built on relentless ambition, passion, and respect. The rivalries have been fierce, but the mutual drive to innovate and raise the bar is what has made this journey so special. "It's been an honour to be part of this incredible era of motorsport. I leave with immense pride in what we've achieved and also with what's in the pipeline for 2026 — and huge respect for everyone who's made F1 the pinnacle it is today. Thank You"

Joel Dahmen Reflects On Caddie Breakup After Breakthrough Round At Wyndham
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On the very first day of the Wyndham Championship, PGA Tour pro Joel Dahmen fired a career-best 9-under 61 on Thursday to take the early lead. Interestingly, it wasn't just his scorecard that had fans talking, but the emotional weight behind it. The 37-year-old, who entered the week ranked 101st in the FedEx Cup standings, closed his opening round with three straight birdies at Sedgefield Country Club, vaulting to the top of the leaderboard ahead of Alex Noren. Have a day, Joel Dahmen! 👏 He currently leads the Wyndham Championship after an opening-round 61. — Golf Digest (@GolfDigest) July 31, 2025 But behind the red-hot start, Dahmen still feels the sting of the "hard" split from his longtime caddie and best friend, Geno Bonnalie. The duo had been inseparable for over a decade, working together since Dahmen's Korn Ferry Tour days, back in 2015. Their partnership blossomed into one of the most beloved player-caddie relationships on Tour, even earning fan-favorite status through Netflix's "Full Swing" series. But in July, just ahead of The Open Championship, Dahmen announced the breakup. Since then, his performance has been streaky. The Clarkston, Washington, native missed 12 cuts in 21 events this season. After Thursday's round, Dahmen addressed the breakup for the first time in depth. (Photo by) More Getty Images "Man, I love Geno," Dahmen told reporters after his first round at the Wyndham Championship. "We still text almost daily. He's doing well. Yeah, I mean, I miss him but sometimes the hardest ... You have to do something hard to ... He continued: "Look, it wasn't an easy decision," he added during the same conference "I won't say I'm not happy about it but it's hard. He's my best friend, he's still my best friend. "It was more about me. It was my mentality, it was what I was doing and I needed to take ownership of what I was doing. I was not doing a good job of that. So, for a way, for me to do it as simple as just playing golf on my own for a little bit." Dahmen's decision to part ways wasn't about Geno's performance, instead about accountability. His longtime coach, Rob Rashell, stepped in as a temporary caddie this week. As Dahmen gets his own situation squared away, it might not be long before Bonnalie is back in business, too. "I love him, I miss him. I think we'll see him out here again soon," Dahamen expressed during the post-round conference on Day 1. Dahmen began his second round on Friday at 1:49 p.m. ET, paired with Ryan Palmer and Harry Higgs, both of whom are also fighting for playoff spots. With the top 70 advancing to the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Dahmen needs at least a runner-up finish to keep his season alive.
