Manny Pacquiao given brutal warning ahead of comeback as ageing boxing legend told 'it's kill or be killed'
Pacman is launching a bid to become world champion again at the age of 46 next month
Welterweight world champion Mario Barrios insists he won't be taking any prisoners when he faces Manny Pacquiao next month and has warned the ageing boxing legend that he plans to get rid of him in devastating fashion.
Former eight-division world champion Pacquaio is launching a comeback at the age of 46 and will step into the ring for the first time in nearly four years when he takes on WBC title holder Barrios in Las Vegas on July 19.
The Filipino star has controversially landed a world title shot next month despite his lack of activity, and were he to upset Barrios, he could be in line to defend his belt in a unification showdown against undefeated American WBO champion Brian Norman Jr.
While he respects his older counterpart, Barrios - who is 16 years Pacquiao's junior - has warned that he will throw everything at 'Pacman' in the ring because of the brutal "kill or be killed" mentality of the sport.
Speaking to YSM Sports Media, the Mexican-American fighter said: "I am going in there with our game plan.
"I am going in there with bad intentions. At any point, if I see I have him hurt, it's kill or be killed in there. I see I have him hurt, I am trying to get him out of there."
Barrios also insists that he won't take pity on his opponent by prolonging the fight if he has Pacquiao badly hurt.
"If the roles were reversed, he wouldn't take it easy on me", he added. "It's just the reality of the sport, it's kill or be killed in there."
Pacquiao - who's mega showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2015 still ranks as the highest grossing boxing fight of all time after generating $410 million (£304 milion) - has also been told to stay away from fellow contender Jack Catterall who has been deemed as 'too dangerous' of an opponent for the veteran.
Catterall lost out to Arnold Barboza Jr in a bout for the interim WBO light-welterweight title earlier this year after scoring impressive victories against Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor in the past 13 months.
But Catterall's trainer Jamie Moore reckons his man would simply have too much for the ageing Pacquiao were Catterall to step up to the 146-pound division.
Moore has also voiced his concerns about Pacquiao's decision to lace up the gloves again. Speaking to SpinBet, he said: 'I'll be honest with you; I'm not a big fan of the fact that Manny Pacquiao is fighting again.
"I think he is one year younger than me and it's a dangerous game at the best of times never mind when you're 46 years old.
"I really don't see Manny beating Mario Barrios, I just think he is way past his best and it's a young man's sport but if the unbelievable happened and Manny won, I would be really on the fence about it because ultimately, my number one objective would be to get Jack Catterall a world title.
"But I wouldn't feel comfortable going in there with someone like Manny Pacquiao because at the stage of his career now, he could get hurt and I wouldn't want to be in the opposite corner when that potentially happened.
"It's just a dangerous sport and Pacquiao is an absolute legend, I have the upmost respect for him hence the reason why if that scenario did unfold, I wouldn't feel comfortable with this. But also, I want Jack to win a world title so it would be a hard position to be in."

Swansea City's plan for the rest of the transfer window explained as wishlist emerges
Swansea City's plan for the rest of the transfer window explained as wishlist emerges The Swans still have plenty of work to do before the start of the season Oli McBurnie is a player on Swansea's radar this summer Swansea City's transfer window is firmly up and running, but there's clearly plenty more work to be done before the first ball is kicked on August 9. For the second season in a row, Swansea open their campaign with a trip to Middlesbrough, but a fair amount has changed since last year's curtain-raiser. Not only is there a new man in the hot-seat, but there's also likely to be a different look to the XI that takes to the field at the Riverside in a couple of months' time. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here. Five players have already come on board, while a total of 10 players have departed, and those numbers are likely to increase further before the close of the window. As things stand, it's understood a central midfielder is currently near the top of Swansea's wishlist, preferably one capable of playing in the six. Lewis O'Brien was clearly a figure of keen interest, but as expected the finances are proving tricky for the Swans, who are predictably facing stiff competition from elsewhere. Article continues below A host of second tier clubs, and even Spanish giants Valencia, have taken an interest in the 26-year-old, whose future remains up in the air. Sources claim Hull City and one other Championship club have already launched a bid for the Nottingham Forest man, and it's claimed the value of the Tigers' bid stands at around £5m. Swansea will clearly struggle to match any offer in that sort of ballpark, while Richard Montague himself admitted that O'Brien would command 'Premier League wages'. It may well be the club move on to other targets. Empoli's Liam Henderson and Yokohama's Jean Claude have previously been mentioned as possibilities by reports elsewhere, while there's also been some lingering interest in Ethan Galbraith at Leyton Orient, although it seems he's not regarded as a top priority at this stage. Melker Widell is set to come in, but the need for reinforcements at the heart of midfield will likely accelerate should a departure or two materialise. There's already been interest in star man Goncalo Franco, while Jay Fulton has similarly been tipped for a possible exit before the window's out. Elsewhere, the club are also bracing themselves for a potential offer for winger Ronald, who's been linked with several sides in his native Brazil, as well as Mexican side Club America. As things stand, however, there's not been any sort of concrete approach from anyone. Should the situation change, it could well have an impact on Swansea's plans. There's currently a feeling they are well stocked in wide areas, particularly with the signing of Zeidane Inoussa. But the recent links with Kwame Poku suggest they might well be expecting some movement the other way. The 23-year-old was reportedly the subject of an offer from the Swans, but now looks poised to join Queens Park Rangers. Josh Ginnelly could well be facing an uncertain future given his injury-plagued spell, while the lack of game-time under boss Alan Sheehan suggests Florian Bianchini might well be another the club could be tempted to move on. Bianchini didn't make a single start under the Irishman, and just eight league games overall, despite showing some encouraging glimpses in the number nine role. A new striker is likely to be on the agenda at some point, with Bobby Wales largely seen as a player for the future. But their efforts to bring one or two more on board may well depend on whether they can move Jerry Yates on in this window. The club have already sold Mykola Kuharevich this summer, and it seems likely they will entertain offers for the former Blackpool man, who enjoyed a reasonably successful loan spell at Derby County last season. The Rams were previously interested in another move, but Paul Warne's departure seemingly scuppered those plans. Derby's capture of Carlton Morris may well confirm they have no intention of returning for Yates, but an exit could nevertheless still happen should the right suitor emerge. Sign up to the Swansea City WhatsApp service to get breaking news and top stories sent to your phone Swansea have already assessed possible options to come in, including former striker Oli McBurnie, although it's understood they've not made any sort of approach for the Scotland striker, and have merely placed his name on a list among several others. Hull currently seem well placed to get a move done at this stage, although nothing seems to be agreed. Article continues below Finally, there's still the possibility the Swans may look to get another defender on board. The eye-catching capture of Cameron Burgess has gone a long way to filling the Harry Darling-shaped hole in Swansea's backline. After a saga that lasted the best part of six months, Darling chose to return to his native East Anglia by signing for former boss Liam Manning at Norwich City. Ricardo Santos has also come on board too, but there's a feeling Swansea could still use more depth in the heart of the defence, and indeed in the full-back/wingback area. There's subsequently a preference for someone who can cover in both areas if possible.

Jake Paul storms out of Piers Morgan interview
Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored ahead of his fight against Julio César Chávez Jr. During the interview, Morgan questioned Paul's boxing abilities, suggesting Tommy Fury was his only'proper boxer' opponent and that Mike Tyson would have easily beaten him in his prime. Paul responded aggressively, fat-shaming Morgan and insulting boxer Canelo Álvarez. Paul responded by insulting Morgan and promoting his upcoming pay-per-view fight, stating it was a 'business enterprise.' A victory against Chávez Jr. could potentially earn Paul a ranking, according to Mauricio Sulaiman, chairman of the World Boxing Council

Bryson DeChambeau says The Open has ability to be diabolical as he plots glory at Portrush
American star knows the toughness of the 153rd Championship course Wary Bryson DeChambeau admits Royal Portrush can be diabolical as he says he'll need diligence to end his Major term in style at The Open. The American star feels frustrated that he has been unable to knock-off one of the game's biggest events so far in calendar year with a strong run at the Masters his closest call. DeChambeau, who has two US Opens on his CV, has just one opportunity left to get the job done in 2025 and it comes next month at the 153rd Championship. The LIV Golf star accepts it's going to be a fearsome challenge to get the job done having sampled the toughness of the track during Shane Lowry's success of six years ago on home soil. DeChambeau was asked what he remembered about it and said: 'Yeah, it can be diabolical. Driver is key on that golf course in wind conditions, in side wind conditions. It's going to be a good test of controlling your golf ball, so I've got to be in touch with my game. I've got to have better feel. I'd say disappointed that I haven't won one [Major] yet. I've got to fine tune my game and focus on executing my shots the way I know I can on the golf course. I haven't been doing that recently. 'A little bit more due diligence on my side of the coin. Not taking things for granted and focusing on what I can do to give myself the best chance to win at the British Open. Probably being a little more strategic that week.' DeChambeau also gave his views of the Ryder Cup situation with Keegan Bradley being hotly-tipped to appear at Bethpage as both captain and player for the United States. He said: 'I personally think given how he's played, I could confidently say he should be a part of the team for sure.' Dechambeau, meanwhile, admits he's excited for this week's LIV event and said: 'I think having it be my own tournament is going to be a lot of fun. I think it's great to come to Dallas and have everybody come out and support us. I think there's going to be upwards of 40,000 people potentially here this week, so it's going to be a lot of fun, and super excited for the week. The golf course is in incredible shape. It's going to be a tough test of golf. Man, what a fiery place this could be. I'm excited for the week. 'I'm going to focus more on the golf this week. I'm looking forward to a great test of golf and our team is coming off of two wins, so we're pumped to be looking at going three for three for the Crushers and I'm more excited about that and focused on that right now.'
