Diljit Dosanjh gets emotional recalling Priyanka Chopra's support at Met Gala 2025: ‘When your own people are there, it touches your heart'
Diljit Dosanjh 's debut at the Met Gala 2025 was a powerful cultural statement, but it was the unexpected warmth and support from Priyanka Chopra and a fellow Sikh man at the event that left the Punjabi singer-actor deeply moved. Diljit recently recalled how being surrounded by 'his own people' during such a high-profile event meant the world to him. 'I hadn't been to a party in a long time... and I was alone' Diljit shared that attending the Met Gala alone was intimidating, especially since it was his first major public event in a long time. 'When I went to my table, there was also a Sardar boy there. He helped me a lot because I didn't know anyone,' he told BBC Asian Network. 'The table I was at wasn't his, but he still came over and said, 'Paaji, whatever you need—tea, water—I'll get it for you.'' The young man, who was working at the event, made Diljit feel instantly at home. 'Seeing a fellow Sardar there made me even happier... A big, big thank you to him,' he added. Priyanka Chopra's comforting words left Diljit emotional Another special moment came when Priyanka Chopra, a fellow Indian and global icon, approached him with kindness and reassurance. ''Diljit, I'm sitting right here. If you need anything at all, just call PC, and I'll be there in a flash,' she told me,' he revealed. 'When your own people are around and they support you, it truly touches your heart. That moment really moved me.' Diljit Dosanjh Fights Back: Slams 127 Cuts in 'Punjab 95' | Promotes 'Sardaar Ji 3' Amid Backlash 'It wasn't about me going there—it was about Punjab going there' Diljit turned heads with his Met Gala look, designed by Prabal Gurung, which celebrated Punjabi heritage. He wore a traditional turban, kurta, and tehmat, adorned with intricate jewels reminiscent of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, along with the Punjab flag and Gurmukhi script on his back. 'I cried when I thought of my look... It wasn't important that I go there; it was important that Punjab goes there, that the turban goes there,' he said. 'That thought alone made me cry.' Always confident yet grounded, Diljit added with a smile, 'I knew it, when I go there, no one will have eyes on anyone else. Even if they show me less, when I go, no one else will be visible.'

Mika Singh takes veiled dig at Diljit Dosanjh over Sardaar Ji 3 controversy with Hania Aamir: ‘Fake singer... our nation's dignity is involved'
Singer Mika Singh has seemingly taken a sharp swipe at Diljit Dosanjh amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The backlash comes at a time of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives. Without directly naming Diljit, Mika posted a fiery message on his Instagram Stories titled 'Desh Pehle', urging Indian artists to put the country above personal and professional interests. 'Guys, as we all know, the relationship between India and Pakistan isn't going well right now. Yet some people continue to act irresponsibly,' he wrote. 'A fake singer who did 10 shows in India has now disappeared' In his post, Mika criticized unnamed individuals for collaborating with artists across the border. 'Before releasing any content that involves artists from across the border, they should think twice — especially when our nation's dignity is involved,' he said. He also referred to a recent controversy around a film featuring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor that faced opposition. However, the sharpest part of his statement read: 'What's more shocking is that a fake singer, after doing 10 shows in India with thousands of fans buying tickets, has now disappeared — leaving fans betrayed and helpless.' Though Mika didn't drop any names, his words, paired with a photo of both himself and Diljit, strongly pointed toward Dosanjh, who has been touring internationally. FWICE demands boycott of Sardaar Ji 3 The controversy began after the trailer for Sardaar Ji 3 dropped, prompting the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to call for a boycott. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Container Houses Now Available in Lagos - See Prices! He has disrespected the sentiments of the nation and insulted the sacrifice of our brave soldiers. His preference for Pakistani talent over Indian artists raises serious questions about his loyalty and priorities.' Diljit Dosanjh Faces Massive Backlash Over 'Sardaar Ji 3' Casting | Industry Boycott Looms Diljit Dosanjh responds: 'The film was shot before tensions escalated' Responding to the growing backlash, Diljit Dosanjh clarified in an interview with BBC Asian Network that Sardaar Ji 3 was filmed earlier this year, before the political climate worsened. 'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha... Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them,' he said. Despite his clarification, the controversy shows no signs of settling. The film's producers have now opted to skip an Indian theatrical release, announcing a worldwide release on June 27 instead. Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, Sardaar Ji 3 continues the popular franchise with Diljit reprising his role as the quirky ghost-hunter.
