Brit in Benidorm warns tourists could be fined for innocent childhood activity

A Brit in Benidorm warned there's something you may think is innocent while you're away, but it could land you with a hefty fine that you definitely do not want to pay
Brit in Benidorm warns of fines for building sandcastles on beach
Heading to Benidorm this summer? You may want to be aware of the fact that building an innocent sandcastle could land you with a hefty fine. Yes, you didn't read that wrong – you could get fined for making a simple sandcastle. Harry, who posts on TikTok as @harrytokky, often shares his tips and tricks about the Spanish seaside resort, sharing what not to do and how to avoid fines or getting scammed.

But this time, people have been left baffled to learn that building a sandcastle could leave you out of pocket to the tune of a whopping £87 (€100), so you may want to think twice before doing the innocent childhood activity.

In a recent video, Harry Poulton shared the holiday spot is virtually empty because tourists are being "priced out" of the resort.

And the sandcastle ban may be another reason for Brits not to bother with Benidorm.
In a recent clip, racking up over 21,000 views and hundreds of likes, he revealed building a sandcastle on the beach can result in a fine of up to £87 (€100).
He referred to it was the "weirdest thing you can get fined for in Spain," sharing you "probably didn't even know you could get a penalised for it" because it's so bizarre.

His friend, Louis Grier, guessed it was public indecency he was speaking about, but it was just building sandcastles, which he said was "mad".
"Supposedly, you could be obstructing walkways," he fumed, ending the video by saying it's "a bit bizarre".

In the comments of the video, someone wrote: "I'm sure they mean the huge sandcastles that people make on the beach."
Another fumed: "Fine you for building a sandcastle? But do nothing about the pickpockets that stand out like a sore thumb. Hmmm makes sense."
Somebody wondered whether it "included toddlers" making sandcastles.

Recently, Harry also warned Brits about scams that were going around in Benidorm, urging them not to fall foul of what was going on.
These are the warnings he shared:
3. Potato man
Harry warned you'll usually see these men in the mornings, and Harry said they're usually "older men on the beachfront, doing these games".

He said the game can "look like noughts and crosses," but claimed it's best to "avoid them" as they're "known scams in Benidorm".
"Definitely avoid them. You are not going to win money, even though it looks like people are winning. It's all part of their little con," he seethed.
2. 'Illegal' cocktail drinks
Harry said: "Now this is one I highly recommend avoiding. Those cocktail drinks are illegal, and you have no idea where they're being made.

"It could be on the back of a truck for all you know, so I definitely highly recommend avoiding them."
1. The ladies of the dodgy night
Harry warned: "If you're walking down Benidorm, anywhere in Benidorm, and you're alone, generally alone, and these ladies walk up to you offering special services, avoid them.
"Now, most of the time they're out to rob you, steal your phone, steal your jewellery, that sort of thing."
He warned it's important to be extra vigilant, especially when you're drinking a lot of alcohol and then potentially walking home alone. You should always be aware of your surroundings.

Sky offers free upgrades to Glass Air TVs but only until this week's deadline

Sky is giving away an upgrade to Sky Glass shoppers that saves more than £70, but the deadline to claim it is fast approaching. Sky is enticing Brits to upgrade their smart TVs by offering a free upgrade on its new Sky Glass device. For a limited time, anyone ordering the 43" Sky Glass Air will receive a free upgrade with 12 months of Ultra HD channels at no extra cost. Typically costing an extra £6 per month, this free bonus delivers a crisper, more vibrant and higher quality image, along with immersive Dolby Atmos sound, across selected Sky Entertainment, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports channels. The deal provides a £72 saving compared to the regular price, but it's only available for a short time, as customers must claim the deal by Wednesday, July 30, to benefit from the free boost. The Sky Glass Air was first launched in June as a budget-friendly and slimmer version of the Sky Glass Gen 2. For those unfamiliar with the Glass range, the device is Sky's own-brand smart TV that includes Sky channels and streaming apps built in, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or even a Sky box. Prices begin at £6 per month for the Sky Glass Air, less than half that of the £14 Gen 2. Despite its lower price tag, the Glass Air still features a 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen and Dolby Audio speaker system, with other notable features including hands-free voice control, intelligent and personalised recommendations, and a straightforward plug-in-and-play setup, reports the Express. It's important to note that the £6 monthly fee covers only the television itself and must be combined with a Sky TV and Netflix package. These start from £15 per month for the Essential TV bundle, which offers more than 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic, as well as Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. There's also the choice to add more than 35 additional channels, such as Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy and National Geographic, with the £22 Ultimate TV bundle. Choosing this package along with the 43" Sky Glass Air results in a total monthly cost of £28, plus a one-off upfront charge of £20 to get everything set up. Buyers should also consider the duration of the plan; the Sky Glass Air element run for 48 months, while the TV and Netflix package is significantly shorter at 24 months. The TV is available in three colour options: Carbon Grey, Cotton White or Sea Green. However, there are numerous other alternatives for those who prefer to pay in full, including Amazon's 20% discount on the 43" Samsung Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. This top-selling Samsung TV on the site has been marked down from £299 to £239 – a saving of £60. Meanwhile, Virgin Media's Summer of Sports sale has resulted in price reductions of up to £336 on its TV, Sky Sports and fibre broadband packages. The largest saving is on the Biggest Combo bundle, which includes eight Sky Sports channels, over 200 regular channels, Sky Cinema, Netflix, and 516Mbps broadband. However, for those who have chosen to stick with Sky Glass, there have been some glowing reviews on the Sky Community forum. One user said: "I can't fault it. It was very easy to assemble, and account syncing to my Glass downstairs was straightforward. "The 55" TV is still a heavy piece of equipment compared to the numerous Samsung TVs I've had. Picture settings on auto seem suffice at this stage and the sound initially is totally different from the Glass downstairs – the speakers are at the back so it just projects differently, not in a bad way I might add. Speech is clear and it's certainly loud enough." Another said: "This is a great TV that's perfect for the average TV viewer considering subscribing to Sky whilst seeking a good audio-visual experience at an affordable price. It's good as a standalone TV and works equally well for those who have already invested in a decent audio system." However, the same user also noted it may not be for everyone, adding: "It's perfectly suitable for casual gamers, although hardcore gamers would likely want to look elsewhere for a proper gaming TV to connect their gaming console to."

Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years. EASTENDERS Barry Evans - Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying. Her plan to inherit Barry's fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files. Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was 'fake'. Bradley Branning - Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater's rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died. He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape. Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death. CORONATION STREET Tina McIntyre - Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow - despite him being married to Carla Connor. When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla's brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her. Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony - then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her. In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe. Molly Dobbs - Molly was one of the victims in Corrie's 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold). Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death. This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth. As fate would have it, Kevin's wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly's side in her final moments. Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack's father, before dying of her injuries. Vera Duckworth - Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character. Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap's most beloved couples. Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey's exit as Jack. Paul Foreman - Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease. Introduced in 2018 as David Platt's (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance - and marriage - with vicar Billy Mayhew. The MND storyline was announced in 2023 - with the expectation it would result in the character's death. EMMERDALE Sarah Sugden - After the family got into financial problems, Sarah's son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn. He didn't realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze. Nine villagers - The shocking 1993 plane crash episode brought in 18 million viewers for Emmerdale. Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash. Elsewhere, the star's famous uncle has suggested how she could return to EastEnders. Lord Alan Sugar, 78, who many know as the star of The Apprentice, is her uncle by marriage. Cerys Nelmes, from Bristol, claims she absentmindedly wandered out of the shop with clothes before realising she hadn't paid. But despite this, she was detained and accused of shoplifting. Nelmes, who is a rising name in the Bristol comedy scene, took to social media to explain the incident. "On Tuesday I left a Zara store in Istanbul without paying for items," she said. "I returned straight away and handed the items to staff. I was asked to pay and I said I would and the manager accepted this. "To cut a long story short I was then taken to a locked room where hours later after no communication from anyone I was taken away by police and held in a police station and was asked to sign things I couldn't read. "I was put in a prison cell for 24 hours with no food or toilet facilities. "When I asked for water, I was told they didn't understand me." Nelmes was brought before a judge the next day, who permitted her release but barred her from leaving Turkey. She now faces a potential three-year prison sentence. Leaked footage shows terrifying power of new 'vacuum bomb' the GAZAP - one of the world's most destructive non-nuclear weapons The comedian is required to stay in the country while the incident is under investigation. She has appealed to the public for support in the wake of the incident, fearing she might lose her home back in Britain. The ongoing proceedings are leading to her losing work and income. Nelmes has been unable to afford accommodation in Turkey given she had only come for a short holiday but now finds herself banned from leaving. However, she was offered a place to stay by locals. She added: "I am ok and have been taken in by a Turkish family who have given me a bed and food. "I don't deserve all the kind words from people but I am very grateful." The British Embassy has confirmed it is offering support. It comes after a British tourist was dragged out of a holiday bar and beaten by staff after allegedly refusing to pay a £460 drinks bill. Footage from abar in Thailand's Chiang Mai city shows the holidaymaker being manhandled. The 26-year-old solo traveller was reportedly charged an inflated 20,000 baht - around £460 - for drinks at the Diamond Karaoke Bar. 5 Picture shows Cerys Nelmes Instagram story Credit: Newsflash
