2 Fulton County Jail inmates die in past week in unrelated incidents
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office announced two inmates had died in the past seven days.
Fulton County detainee Shon Disola, 53, experienced a medical emergency while on free time in the evening of May 17.

The sheriff's office said Disola was taken to the hospital for treatment and was pronounced dead on May 25.
According to the sheriff's office, Disola was arrested on Feb. 2, 2023 by the Atlanta Police Department and was being held without bond.
Separately, Benjamin Pike, 55, was found unresponsive in his cell on May 27.

While jail and medical teams tried to perform lifesaving measures, they were unsuccessful and Pike was pronounced dead at the jail.
The sheriff's office said Pike was arrested in February 2024 by Georgia State University police and was being held at the jail on a $2,500 bond.
The Atlanta Police Department is conducting a death investigation, the sheriff's office said.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct autopsies on both men to determine exact causes of death.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office extended its condolences to the loved ones of both Disola and Pike after the men's deaths.

Trump team emphasizes immigration in Boulder response
President Trump and his administration are leaning into immigration more than antisemitism in the wake of an attack in Boulder, Colo., that targeted a pro-Israel gathering. The administration has made it its mission to usher in tough immigration policies, and it has also gone after universities for antisemitism over campus protests related to the Gaza war. The attack on the group demonstrating in Boulder for the release of hostages held by Hamas fits into several arguments the administration is making about what needs to change in the country, particularly since the suspect behind the attack was living in the U.S. on an expired visa. So far, the response from the administration has been much more focused on highlighting that immigration status. Trump's response to the attack a day later began by ripping his predecessor President Biden for what he deems a 'ridiculous open border policy.' The Department of Homeland Security, meanwhile, was 'revamping' the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tip line to 'report suspicious criminal activity by illegal aliens including terrorist activity, gang related crimes, and suspected sex trafficking' in its response to the event in Boulder. 'For four years, the Biden Administration allowed millions of unvetted illegal aliens—including terrorists, gang members, and other violent criminals—to pour into our country. Yesterday's terrorist attack by a suspect illegally in our country, underscores the importance of getting these illegal aliens out of our country,' assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. DHS' response to the attack on Sunday involved immediately highlighting that the suspect had been in the U.S. illegally. Similarly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned about deporting criminals in response to the attack. 'In light of yesterday's horrific attack, all terrorists, their family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on a visa should know that under the Trump Administration we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you,' he said on X. The suspect, Mohamed Soliman, has been charged with a federal hate crime after he allegedly yelled 'Free Palestine' as he was attacking the group, injuring multiple people with Molotov cocktails. Soliman had entered the U.S. on a tourist visa in August 2022. That visa expired in early 2023 but Soliman stayed in the country since and he had applied for asylum during that time. DHS said he had also applied for a work permit once the tourist visa was up, but that had also expired. Soliman used a 'makeshift flamethrower' and incendiary devices Sunday to attack people demonstrating for the release of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas. The victims of the attack range in age from 52 to 88, The Associated Press reported. Deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, one of the administration's chief immigration hawks, quickly called out Soliman's immigration status late Sunday just after the attack, calling him 'an illegal alien.' 'He was granted a tourist visa by the Biden Administration and then he illegally overstayed that visa. In response, the Biden Administration gave him a work permit. Suicidal migration must be fully reversed,' Miller said. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt, meanwhile, did highlight that Jewish Americans should 'rest assure' that 'this president has your back.' She also directed her response towards the work of the administration to crack down on border crossings and also blamed the Biden. 'I'd also like to point out that this administration has done more than any administration to curb this violence and to curb illegal immigration,' she said. 'We know that this individual, this terrorist, was allowed into this country by the previous administration… was given a tourism visa and then was illegallyl allowed to stay.' The incident in Boulder comes just a week after another antisemitic attack in Washington, D.C. A man who shouted 'free, free Palestine' while being detained fatally shot two Israeli Embassy staffers, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, at a reception at the Capital Jewish Museum. Following that attack in Washington, attorney general Pam Bondi said the threat level has been increased for all Americans, telling people that 'whether you are Jewish or not, be vigilant.' Some Democrats on Monday said the administration wasn't doing enough to call out antisemitism. 'It was an obviously antisemitic attack and the latest in a series of antisemitic attacks. We had that attack on that couple exiting the Jewish community center in Washington a couple of weeks ago… and the Jewish community is very on edge. And we want the federal government to do more,' Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) said on CNN. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), meanwhile, called out the dangers of unchecked antisemitism but opted not to address the administration's response. 'Because of their Jewish identity, they were targeted by hate. 'USAID' paperwork found in car of Boulder terror attack suspect targeting pro-Israel group
Paperwork with the word "USAID" was found in the car of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who's accused of allegedly throwing explosives at a group in Boulder, Colorado, peacefully protesting for the release of Hamas' hostages. The incident happened on Sunday as the pro-Israel group "Run for Their Lives" was protesting on Pearl Street. Boulder police said eight people were injured in the alleged terror attack, adding that they initially received reports of a man setting people on fire. According to an arrest affidavit, law enforcement officials found paperwork with the words "USAID" inside Soliman's 2015 silver Toyota Prius. Other paperwork with the words "Israel" and "Palestine" was also allegedly found inside the Toyota Prius, in addition to a red gas container and rags. A senior State Department official told Fox News Digital that Soliman isn't a United States Agency for International Development employee. Soliman allegedly told federal and local law enforcement officials during an interview that he specifically targeted a "Zionist group" that gathered in Boulder on June 1 because he wanted to stop them from taking over "our land," which he said is "Palestine." Soliman allegedly said he was planning the attack for a year, adding he waited until his daughter graduated. According to the document, he left messages to his family, a journal and an iPhone at his house in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Soliman told law enforcement officials that he would conduct the attack again, authorities said. A black plastic container was found near the location Soliman was arrested, which contained "at least" 14 unlit Molotov cocktails, according to the affidavit. Soliman was charged with murder in the first degree – deliberation with intent; murder in the first degree – extreme indifference; crimes against at-risk adults/elderly; first-degree assault – non-family; first-degree assault – heat of passion; criminal attempt to commit class one and class two felonies; and use of explosives or incendiary devices during felony. He was allegedly heard yelling, "Free Palestine." According to sources who spoke with Fox News, Soliman was in the United States illegally and is an Egyptian national. Soliman first came to the U.S. on Aug. 27, 2022 on a B1/B2 non-immigrant visa that expired on Feb. 26, 2023, but he didn't leave. Soliman filed a claim with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services on March 29, 2023, which authorized him to work through March 2025. FBI director Kash Patel described the incident as a terror attack in a post on X. "We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado," FBI director Kash Patel said. "Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available." Biden State Department Spokesman Now Says Israel Is Committing War Crimes
Former State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller says that he personally believes Israel has been committing war crimes against the Palestinian people — including during his tenure in the Biden administration, where, as a major voice of U.S. foreign policy, he daily defended Israel's flattening of Gaza to the American public. Speaking to Sky News' Mark Stone on the 'Trump 100' podcast, Miller said on Monday that it is 'without a doubt true that Israel has committed war crimes' in the territory. When Stone asked if he held this belief while serving as spokesperson, he said yes. 'Look, one of the things about being a spokesperson is you're not a spokesperson for yourself. You're a spokesperson for the president, the administration — and you espouse the positions of the administration,' Miller said. 'And when you're not in the administration, you can just give your own opinions.' The ex-State Department official said he believes Israeli soldiers committed war crimes in individual instances rather than as part of a wider policy of systematically erasing the Palestinian people, as muchof the international community has now accused the Israeli government. 'We were expecting it coming,' Hamid Bendaas, spokesperson for the pro-Palestinian nonprofit IMEU Policy Project, told HuffPost of Miller's admission. 'But I think this is the first foray of that — of Biden admin officials being like, 'Oh yeah, we were hard on Israel, we weren't super pro-Israel,' after saying for over a year that they were the most pro-Israel administration of all time, and a lot of the reporting since then obviously backing it up.' 'But [Miller] is saying that he's speaking about covering war crimes, right? It's not even covering up Biden's age or stuff like that,' Bendaas continued. 'But covering up a war crime that you know happened, and saying that doesn't happen because you're following orders? That's basically what he's saying he did. It's just a different thing.' United Nations officials,human rights groups and some world leaders have described Israel's actions as genocidal, a term Miller rejected. Still, his comments on Monday represent a huge pivot from the statements he made every day on behalf of former Secretary of State Antony Blinken while heclashed with reporters who tried to push himon the U.S. role in unconditionally supporting and arming an Israeli offensive that has now reached its nineteenth month. 'It has to be said that Miller is also guilty of, at minimum, facilitating these war crimes,' progressive strategist Rania Batrice posted on X. 'Matthew Miller, almost daily, not only lied to the public and the press, he did it in a shitty condescending way, in an attempt to mislead the public.' Though Miller insisted that he believed Israeli war crimes were individual acts, the State Department was aware that the Israeli government was committing possible war crimes. Experts within the U.S. government concluded last year that Israel was intentionally blocking humanitarian aid from entering Gaza — a major development that would legally require the Biden administration to stop sending weapons to Israel. Blinken rejected the findings and delivered a report to Congress without that information, leading report author Stacy Gilbert to resign in protest. Gilbert was one of many Biden appointees who, unlike Miller, resigned over the administration's unconditional support for Israel in its bombing campaign. Biden resignee and A New Policy co-founder Josh Paul told HuffPost, 'The Biden Administration's wanton lawbreaking when it came to what was happening in Gaza was no less a scandal than Watergate, and in the context of its human impact, probably a greater one.' Miller is the latest in a growing number of voices changing their tune and speaking out against Israel's military campaign, the plight of Palestinians and the humanitarian crisis plaguing Gaza. The former spokesperson said that he wished the Biden administration did more to pressure Israel to accept a ceasefire deal after May 2024, when documentation of the military's indiscriminate violence against civilians became nearly impossible to ignore. 'I'm happy to be punitive to Matt Miller, but we also want to see more people be doing what Matt Miller is doing in a way, because it's a sign that they are recognizing that public opinion has shifted pretty rapidly on this,' Bendaas said. 'And especially on the Democratic side, it's just extremely unpopular to be pro-Israel in the way that Democrats have been for the last few decades.'
