UAE-Morocco Business Council Inaugurates Stronger Bilateral Ties

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), proudly welcomed the inaugural session of the UAE-Morocco Business Council, hosted in Sharjah.
This significant meeting was attended by Ahmed Al Tazi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UAE, and Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), along with key representatives from the UAE Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy.
In his address, Al Owais celebrated the event as a pivotal moment in the flourishing relationship between the UAE and Morocco, emphasizing the rapid expansion of ties across various sectors. He highlighted the UAE's wealth of expertise and attractive investment opportunities, pointing out that the newly formed Business Council would foster enhanced cooperation and create promising prospects for businesses and investment institutions from both countries.
Al Owais also underlined the critical role of the Federation of UAE Chambers, CGEM, and governmental bodies in supporting the Council's initiatives. The meetings, he noted, will lay the groundwork for a future of deeper collaboration within the business community, particularly involving key figures in business, investment, and commerce from both nations.
Chakib Alj echoed Al Owais's sentiments, noting that the Council is a result of a joint effort between CGEM and the UAE Chambers, with a focus on key sectors like tourism, infrastructure, agri-food, renewable energy, finance, and advanced technology. He commended the increasing number of Moroccan companies establishing operations in the UAE, as well as the growing Emirati investment in Morocco.
The session also outlined future plans for the Council's activities, emphasizing ongoing collaboration to strengthen the economic ties between the two nations.

The forum focused on the theme 'Risk Management in the Era of Modern Technology,' with participation from over 200 high-level representatives from anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing authorities, regulatory bodies, financial intelligence units, the private sector, international organisations, and UAE delegation was led by Hamid Al Zaabi, Secretary-General and Vice Chairman of the UAE's National Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing and Financing of Illegal Organisations Committee, and Vice President of MENAFATF. He also participated in the main panel discussion titled 'Future Trends – Global Challenges and Digital Threats.'The UAE delegation, also attending as an observer to the Eurasian Group, showcased the latest developments in the country's efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, including national initiatives leveraging artificial intelligence and digital innovation to strengthen the UAE's capabilities in tackling financial part of the visit, the UAE Embassy in Moscow hosted a 'Youth Circle' session, where Al Zaabi delivered an awareness presentation to Emirati youth and scholarship students. The session focused on sharing knowledge about the UAE's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework while highlighting promising career opportunities in this vital sector, which is closely tied to financial system integrity and national security. The forum provided a high-level platform for dialogue on evolving regulatory approaches, public-private partnership strategies, and regulatory responses to technological change. It also contributed to enhancing cooperation between the Eurasian Middle East and North Africa regions in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

On social media platform X, the Emirati head of state said he looks forward to working with President Nawrocki to "build upon the strong ties between the UAE and Poland." In a victory for European conservatives inspired by US President Donald Trump, Nawrocki secured 50.89 per cent of the vote, election commission data showed. Nawrocki, 42, a newcomer to politics who previously ran a national remembrance institute, campaigned on a promise to ensure economic and social policies favour Poles. The UAE is Poland's leading partner in the region, cooperating in economic and security matters. At least 2,000 Poles live in the UAE, the highest in any Arab state.
