Gatineau, Que. police investigating shooting in Hull

Police in Gatineau, Que. say no one was reported hurt after someone allegedly fired a gun toward a house in Hull early Friday morning. Police were called to rue Lambert near boulevard Fournier at around 6 a.m. after several people called 9-1-1 reporting a gunshot. Police arrested a suspect nearby a short time later. No charges have been announced. Several officers will be on scene Friday for the investigation, police said, and residents have been asked to avoid the area. Two dead after collision in Cocagne: N.B. RCMP

(CTV Atlantic / Callum Smith) A 62-year-old man from Tracadie, N.B., and a 31-year-old man from Stymiest, N.B., have died following a two-vehicle collision in Cocagne, N.B. Police say officers received a crash notification from a cellphone, indicating a motor vehicle incident had occurred on the bridge crossing the Cocagne River, on Route 11 on Friday around 2:15 a.m. A short time later, an individual called 911 to report the collision. When officers arrived at the scene, they confirmed a head-on collision had occurred, and the drivers of each of the two vehicles died at the scene as a result of their injuries, according to a release from the RCMP. One passenger was transported to hospital with what police believe to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene along with members of Ambulance New Brunswick, the Cocagne and Saint-Antoine fire departments, and the New Brunswick Coroner's Office.
