Donald Trump gives Melania awkward birthday kiss before they part ways after pope's funeral
Donald and
Melania Trump
shared an awkward-looking good bye kiss before incumbent and First Lady went their separate ways Saturday nighy after returning from
Pope Francis' funeral
in Rome.
The president boarded Marine One to proceed to his golf course in Bedminster,
New Jersey
, as the first lady climbed into her SUV at the Newark airport on the eve of her
55th birthday
. However, before departing, they had a lovely farewell at the airport: Trump kissed his wife on the cheek. He abruptly halted on his way to his chopper and returned to the first lady to give her a final kiss.
The gesture seemed sweet but the two acted like a teenage couple whose parents were watching. Trump initially waved his wife goodbye before deciding to give her a peck on the cheek. Melania was forced to bend over a bit because she didn't fully hug her husband, just putting her hand on his shoulder while he wrapped his around her lower back.

It's unclear why the first couple were going separate ways. However, Melania might have been going to
New York City
to spend her birthday night with their son, Barron Trump, who resides there.
On Friday, Trump informed reporters that the pair will go on Air Force One to celebrate her birthday. A huge bouquet of pink roses was brought by an aide from the aircraft and placed in the first lady's motorcade. A chocolate coin featuring the first lady's seal was served as dessert during the meal aboard Air Force One.

The Trumps departed the White House on Friday morning, took a plane to Rome for the night, and then traveled to the Vatican on Saturday to attend the pontiff's funeral. As soon as the ceremony ended, they departed Italy and returned to the US on Saturday night.
During the journey, Melania Trump had changed out of her funeral attire. She wore a Burberry trench coat over her black leggings, shirt, and flats when she stepped off the plane.

"Oh she's gonna have a great birthday. She's got a working birthday," the president told reporters Friday on Air Force One on the flight to Rome. "I'll take her for dinner on the Boeing. I'll take her for dinner on Air Force One," he said. Trump admitted that he hadn't bought his wife any gift because "it's been very busy."
Melania spent the entire weekend wearing black. She accessorized her Dolce and Gabbana outfit for the burial service with a diamond cross necklace, lace gloves, and a veil. The first lady is a Catholic.
For the duration of the service, the first couple held hands—the most amount of affection they are typically seen expressing to each other.

IDF strikes hit southern Beirut suburbs
BY Libyan Express Jun 06, 2025 - 03:30 Updated: Jun 06, 2025 - 03:32 According to the report, the city's southern outskirts were attacked by fighter jets and drones. Photo via AP/Hassan Ammar The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has conducted at least 17 strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon's capital. Al Jazeera reported that the areas were targeted by fighter jets and drones. According to Lebanon's LBCI broadcaster, the strikes included six direct hits and ten warning strikes, with one projectile failing to detonate. Earlier, the IDF stated its strikes targeted sites of the Hezbollah Aerial Unit (127) in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut. The Israeli army had previously issued a warning to residents of this neighborhood, instructing them to leave their homes immediately. This marks the first time Israel has targeted the Lebanese capital since late April, having previously limited its military operations to the southern regions of the country. 6 times a luxury bag stole the show in a TV series
2. Bridget's Burberry Tote in 'Succession' When Tom Wambsgans derides Bridget's enormous Burberry tote as a 'ludicrously capacious bag' in Succession Season 4, it becomes one of the show's most quotable lines—and a cutting example of how fashion choices function as social litmus tests. The checkered Burberry design, once a hallmark of early-2000s aspirational style, is read here as dated and outsized. The bag's size and branding mark Bridget as someone new to wealth, unfamiliar with the codes of quiet luxury. In a show obsessed with class signals and status missteps, the bag becomes an efficient symbol of exclusion, its scale mocked not for utility but for its lack of subtlety. 3. Emily Cooper's Peter & James Atelier Butterfly Bag 'Emily in Paris' In Season 3 of Emily in Paris , Emily Cooper is seen carrying a sculptural Butterfly bag by Peter & James Atelier, a Paris-based brand known for its unconventional shapes and architectural designs. The bag, with its exaggerated curves and matte finish, stands out even among her often eccentric outfits. Unlike legacy fashion houses featured throughout the series, this piece reflects Emily's embrace of bold, visually arresting accessories over heritage classics. The bag serves less as a status symbol than a conversation starter—fitting for a character who thrives on visibility and disruption. 4. Rory Gilmore's Hermès Birkin in 'Gilmore Girls' In Season 6, Logan gives Rory a Hermès Birkin, a gesture that's both lavish and telling. At the time, the Birkin was already established as one of the most recognisable luxury bags in popular culture, known for its scarcity, high price tag and long waitlists. Rory's initial unfamiliarity with the bag highlights the social gap between her and Logan's world. Her acceptance of it marks a shift—from someone navigating privilege from the outside to someone beginning to benefit from it. The moment underscores the tension between her middle-class background and the elite circles she's starting to move in. 5. Blair Waldorf's Lady Dior in 'Gossip Girl' Blair's wardrobe in Gossip Girl was curated with precision, and her Lady Dior bag was no exception. The quilted cannage stitching and top-handle silhouette suited her preference for polished, traditional luxury. Unlike Serena's more bohemian, label-mixed looks, Blair's accessories were anchored in old-guard fashion houses, reinforcing her aspiration to uphold legacy, status and control. The Lady Dior became synonymous with her version of femininity—calculated, elevated and always aligned with the rules of the Upper East Side. Off-screen, its reappearance helped cement the bag's revival for a new generation of viewers. 6. Issa Dee's Telfar Shopping Bag in 'Insecure' In Season 4 of Insecure , Issa Dee carries a white Telfar Shopping Bag—a detail that didn't go unnoticed. At the time, the bag was surging in popularity for its accessibility, genderless design and status as a product of a Black-owned brand challenging traditional luxury norms. For a character navigating career pivots and self-reinvention, the choice felt intentional. Issa's use of the 'Bushwick Birkin' reflected her connection to a broader cultural shift: one that prioritised authenticity and community over gatekeeping. The bag's appearance contributed to its already viral momentum and solidified its relevance beyond fashion circles, including a prime spot on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour.

US embassy in Libya denies reports over Gaza resettlement plans
BY Libyan Express May 18, 2025 - 03:58 Majority of Gazans were internally displaced in the recent war with Israel. (Photo: AP) The US embassy in Libya has issued a firm denial following recent media reports suggesting American plans to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Libyan territory. In an official statement posted to their X account , the embassy described these claims as 'completely baseless' and clarified that no such proposals have been discussed with Libyan authorities or any other parties. The categorical denial directly addresses speculation that appeared in several US news outlets, which had suggested the US administration was considering establishing temporary shelter zones in multiple countries, including Libya, to accommodate Gazans amid the humanitarian situation in the Strip. 'The United States remains firmly committed to supporting the Libyan people, Libya's sovereignty, and its territorial integrity,' the embassy stated, adding that 'any decision regarding the future of Gaza residents must be made by the Palestinians themselves.' The clarification has received positive reception across Libyan political and social circles, with many groups expressing their opposition to any initiatives that could potentially compromise national sovereignty or utilise Gaza's humanitarian emergency for alternative purposes. This diplomatic exchange occurs against the backdrop of a worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, where international organisations continue to advocate for enhanced civilian protection measures and urgent crisis resolution strategies. The embassy's position reinforces diplomatic protocols regarding territorial sovereignty whilst acknowledging the Palestinian right to self-determination during this ongoing crisis.
