Katy Perry wows Perth on Lifetimes Tour
A pop extravaganza took place at RAC arena Sunday night as thousands of loyal 'KatyCats' assembled in anticipation of superstar Katy Perry's The Lifetimes Tour, for the first of her two Perth shows.
The atmosphere was electric as fans sported costumes from the singer's iconic outfits as an ode to their favourite hits. The pop queen didn't hold back in delivering the spectacle crowds were expecting, ensuring every facet of the show went the extra mile to impress.
From riding a gargantuan mechanical butterfly across the arena to being propelled through the air on aerial lines — all while belting out songs — Perry confirmed her status as a seasoned pop icon.
Opening with song Artificial (feat JID) set the tone for the AI-themed show, featuring Perry in a video game world fighting the villainous AI technology known as 'main-frame'. As the audience was sucked into her vortex via larger-than-life visuals, the singer rose from the depths of the infinity-shaped stage, dressed in a futuristic robot-inspired costume complete with thigh-high metallic boots.
If it all sounds a little gimmicky, that's because it was, aligning with the over-the-top fantastical worlds Perry seeks to create with each tour.
Fans were mesmerised by the epic visuals, jaw-dropping set design and multiple costumes changes, bursting into song alongside mega hits Woman's World, California Gurls, Teenage Dream and latest dance anthem Lifetimes.
Taking time to interact and connect with fans, the singer accepted posters and gifts from the crowd, including a pack of Tim Tams that she shared with two young fans on stage — her signature quirky charm on full display.
The show is the star's fifth world tour in promotion of her seventh studio album, titled 143.
While the singer experienced backlash after the recent Blue Origin space flight that has extended to criticism of The Lifetimes Tour's themes, Perry maintains her messaging of acceptance and belonging throughout the show, that originally garnered her millions of fans on the brink of her 2011 California Dreams Tour.
Any criticisms were clearly left behind as the audience couldn't get enough of Perry's stage presence and powerhouse vocals. With an encore of much loved hit Firework to end the show, fans were left feeling sky high.

Perth teen's crazy outfit results in Katy Perry stage time
An Armadale teen's bizarre decision to dress as an orange 'sandwich board' inspired by Katy Perry's 2022 Menu Log commercial has resulted in an unforgettable moment on stage with the pop star. After turning 16 on Friday, Archie Richards used Perry's Sunday night RAC Arena show as the setting for his birthday party. Summoned to the stage by the performer alongside several other fans in eye-catching outfits, the teen was encouraged to rap a few famous lines from the advert — and even took some snaps with the star he's admired for more than 10 years. Archie Richards has fun on stage with Katy Perry. Credit: Archie Richards 'You always manifest it, but you don't actually think it's going to happen to you,' he told PerthNow. 'It just didn't feel real.' Asked how the Roar singer reacted to his obscure outfit choice, Mr Richards believes he caught her slightly off guard. 'I think she was a bit taken aback. It's not every day you see a teenage boy dressed up in a Menu Log sandwich board,' he joked. Each moment of his performance was caught on camera by his 'ecstatic' friend, with the audience lapping up the youngster's energy. However, his unforgettable experience almost didn't happen. The teen said that his one-of-a-kind outfit was a last-minute DIY job, initially planning to attend as a 'firework' before a change of heart. 'I thought, 'What if I just paint (the cardboard) orange and stick some glitter in the shape of Menu Log on it?',' he recalled. 'I made it the day of the concert in about two hours, so I'm pretty proud of it.' Perry played a mix of her classic hits, such as Dark Horse and Roar, as well as recent hits from her 2024 album titled 143. The 40-year-old's famous husband, actor Orlando Bloom, and her daughter Daisy have accompanied the star in Perth. With Mr Richards part of the next-generation of Perry fans, the teen showed his age when asked how he felt about the Pirates of the Caribbean star's presence in town. 'To be completely honest, I don't know who Orlando Bloom is,' he said. The excited fan said he would be attending the singer's second show in Perth on Monday night, and vowed to 'outfit repeat' after success the first time. 'Same costume, but I'm sitting a lot closer so she'll definitely see me,' he said.

Surprise Aussie Orlando Bloom sighting amid Katy Perry split rumours
Katy Perry's longtime partner Orlando Bloom has been spotted here in Australia, amid rumours the couple's relationship is on the rocks. Perry is nearing the end of the Australian leg of her Lifetimes tour, with shows in Perth last night and tonight before she finishes her Oz jaunt with four shows in Adelaide. Earlier this month and several shows into the Australian tour, reports surfaced claiming that Perry's nine-year relationship with actor Bloom was all but done. 'It's over,' a source alleged to Page Six. 'They are waiting till her tour is over before they split.' The pair have been engaged since 2019, and welcomed daughter Daisy Dove the following year. But while Bloom wasn't present for the earlier shows of the Australian visit, it appears he's now flown to Perth to join Perry and their daughter on tour. He was snapped walking through the Perth CBD yesterday ahead of Perry's first show in the city, with their daughter on his shoulders. Perry, however, was nowhere to be seen. A source in People made the somewhat unlikely claim that poor sales of Perry's latest album 143 and its accompanying singles were partly to blame for the alleged breakdown of her relationship. 'Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,' the outlet quoted a source as saying. 'It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.' Other reports alleged that tensions surfaced between the couple over Perry's controversial all-female space flight back in April. A source alleged to The Sun that Bloom was 'frustrated' and 'disappointed' with his partner's decision to go ahead with the brief joy ride into space. Perry looked to be enjoying herself before Bloom joined her on tour, partying at a gay club night held in her honour last week in Melbourne. Perry cheered on the drag shows and mingled with patrons during the 'Poof Doof' party at Melbourne's Chasers nightclub last week, and even addressed the crowd to make a big announcement. 'Because you are my chosen family, a mother must provide for her children,' she told the heaving crowd in the club. 'So as a provider, I would like to open the bar for one hour. The drinks are on me, baby.' Perry and Bloom had earlier split for a year in 2017 before getting back together. The pop star addressed the past break on the podcast Call her Daddy last year, saying, 'We weren't really in it from day one. He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot real work.'

Orlando Bloom joins Katy Perry in Perth with daughter Daisy despite split speculation
Orlando Bloom has joined Katy Perry on her trip to Perth for two concerts despite rumours their relationship is in trouble following an 'explosive' argument. The 48-year-old British actor was first spotted exiting the couple's jet at Perth Airport on Sunday afternoon, ahead of Perry's first show at RAC Arena that night, which got fans talking. On Friday, it was reported that Bloom blasted Perry's Blue Origin space flight in April as 'embarrassing' and 'cringeworthy' in 'the middle of a fight.' However, despite the insider's commentary hinting at possible relationship woes, The Lord of the Rings star has accompanied the superstar on her Lifetimes tour to Perth. On Monday, he was spotted taking in the sights of Perth's CBD with his daughter Daisy sitting on top of his shoulders. Bloom attempted to blend in with citygoers by wearing a casual black shirt and cap. His four-year-old daughter, who celebrates her birthday in two months, looked adorable in a cute outfit with her short blonde hair left loose. She hung on tightly to her father with one hand while the other gripped a red and blue balloon animal. Little Daisy has been lucky to explore parts of Australia recently, with the youngster travelling to Kangaroo Island in South Australia for Perry's Adelaide shows. Bloom and Perry have been together since 2016, briefly splitting up the following year before getting engaged in 2019. News broke earlier this month that their was 'tension' in the pair's relationship, with People reporting that Perry's 'devastating' album flop caused 'stress.' Perry took to the stage at RAC Arena on Sunday night as thousands of loyal 'KatyCats' assembled in anticipation of their pop idol. The spectacle included an array of classic and new hits with Perry going all out by riding a gargantuan mechanical butterfly across the arena and was propelled through the air on aerial lines.
