A poll of 2,000 adults found 88 per cent will indulge in a time-killing challenge when on a road trip.
Spotting car brands and various license plates also proved popular.
Other games to feature in the top 20 include the Alphabet Game, when you have to think of a word in a certain category beginning with each letter and the classic Rock Paper Scissors.
Name That Tune, Would You Rather and even Truth or Dare are also popular.
It comes after Londoners playing 'Yellow Car' would have found themselves racking up the points, after images captured five new Renault 5 E-Tech Electric vehicles buzzing around the capital's most famous landmarks.
The fleet were all designed in the French carmaker's iconic yellow pop colourway, making them stand out from the crowd.
The swarm of five in-sync cars drove past London sights including The Mall and past Big Ben.
A spokesperson from the automotive brand, which also commissioned the research, said: "The nation will be taking to the roads this Bank Holiday weekend and I'm sure many will be playing at least one of these classic car games.
'While I-Spy might still be the most popular, Yellow Car is one that many will be familiar with.
'Trying to spot a brightly coloured car while on the road can keep adults and children alike entertained and can help make any car journey go that little bit quicker.
New Renault 4 is no longer a cheap, simple no frills runabout - it's now a funky family crossover and a capital B bargain
'So, having launched Renault 5 with the option of vibrant, fun colours, we wanted to play a real-life version of the Yellow Car game on the streets of London, so anyone driving past would have had a bumper load of cars to shout about.'
The study also revealed that for 67 per cent of those who play car games, the point doing so is simply to pass time and stave off boredom, but 43 per cent rely on them to lighten the mood.
And 16 per cent turn to them to reduce screen time or random scrolling on their phones.
It also emerged 63 per cent of adults claimed car games make them feel nostalgic for the car trips of their childhood.
UK car journeys were the most popular time to break out a game (53 per cent), followed by when going a day trip (41 per cent) and visiting friends and family (32 per cent).
But 21 per cent of adults also play them when driving with friends and 17 per cent do so on the exciting journey to the airport.
And nearly one in 10 (eight per cent) of the parents polled, via OnePoll, turn to them to keep kids entertained on the school run.

Fuming Paddy McGuinness blasts ‘cowboy' builders over ‘job gone wrong' with his new artificial garden

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PADDY McGuinness has slammed a group of "cowboy" builders, calling their work on his artificial garden a "job gone wrong". The TV star has called out the company who fitted the lawn after it slowly became overgrown with weeds. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 Paddy shared a clip of him explaining how the weeds had emerged in his artificial garden 4 The TV star filmed more than 20 weeds sticking out through the turf which was placed around 'a year or two' ago Credit: TikTok 4 He also highlighted 'yellow and orange patches' which were 'everywhere' in his garden Credit: Tiktok Despite it having been "brilliant" for the past "year or two", the 52-year-old said it had now been taken over by weeds which have crept through the surface. Filming his own furious rant, Paddy showcased the extent of the weed growth, with more than 20 separate weeds visible in the clip. He said the weeds had begun to creep through around five months ago but had spread to almost all stretches of the artificial garden. A large number of the weeds shown in the clip appear to have grown in the space at the edge of the artificial turf and the tiling slabs that surround it. The star also slammed various discoloured patches and hollow bits around the edge, saying: 'Job's gone wrong.' Paddy said he attempted to get back in touch with the company but claimed they did not respond to phone calls or emails he sent. The infuriated TV star even labelled the workers as 'f***ing cowboys' in the clip from yesterday. A frustrated Paddy said in the video: "Why's everyone out to shaft you. "Can no one just offer a service and it be right? "Listen, if you've used a company who lay these kind of lawns and you're happy with it, let me know. 'It drives me wild, you just can't get rid of it' pro gardener reveals the nightmare weed every UK home is at risk of "I don't want to put it down again if it's going to be screwed in another year or two and changing colour and weeds everywhere and dips in it and all that pony." He added: "Please someone, I don't want it for nothing, do not want it for nothing, no tagging in, get in touch. "I'll pay you, do a fantastic job and be gone and let me know how to do the upkeep." This comes after the show Paddy and Chris: Road Trippin' - starring the TV icon and his former Top Gear co-host Chris Harris - was confirmed to be axed. The series has been cut after just one season, despite enjoying decent viewing figures when it aired on Sunday nights on BBC One last year. Despite attracting a reasonable 3.2 million viewers for its opener, the show will not be renewed for any more episodes. A TV insider said: "It certainly wouldn't have helped that just a few weeks before the show began on the Beeb, host Chris was slating the corporation following Freddie Flintoff's horror crash while they were filming Top Gear. "He said that he'd warned show bosses that someone could be killed or seriously injured on the show claiming producers were devising increasingly 'stupid and dangerous' stunts. "The timing was not great, but by that stage Road Trippin', which saw Chris reunited with Paddy without Freddie, had already been made and was ready to go out on air."

Love Island romance revealed as cast ‘give away' islanders secretly getting close off-screen after brief villa romance

The villa girl's time was cut short before she had a chance to explore the connection SECOND CHANCE Love Island romance revealed as cast 'give away' islanders secretly getting close off-screen after brief villa romance Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island's Ben Holbrough and Alima Gagigo have secretly been growing close off-screen after their brief villa romance. The pair hit it off in the villa and fans were quick to spot sparks flying between the pair during the infamous heart rate challenge. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 Love Island's Ben Holbrough has been growing close to co-star Alima Gagigo 4 The pair are hoping to pick up where they left off after a brief villa romance Credit: Splash And it looks like their chemistry is undeniable on the outside too. Their close pals Shakira Khan and Harrison Solomon dropped a huge clue that they are dating. And now a source has told us: "Alima and Ben have grown close since leaving the villa. "Ben is single after his split from Andrada and Alima is also a single lady. READ MORE ON LOVE ISLAND NEW CHAPTER Love Island's Arabella Chi reveals she's moving to Dubai after becoming a mum "They're enjoying some harmless flirting and are trying to pick up where they left off. "It's very early stages and it doesn't mean that anything will actually come of this, but they're enjoying getting to know each other better. "Either way they're good friends and have a lovely connection." The Sun reached out to their reps for comment. It comes after Ben posted a video of his Astra App search, which is used to generate a sketch of a user's 'soulmate' based on their birthdate. The sketch had a similar resemblance to Scottish beauty Alima, with fans saying he's hinting that she's his "soulmate". Love Island fans beg bosses to sign bombshell to All Stars after savage attack on ex in final He captioned it: "The Astra App be knowing way too much..." Ben looked coy before adding: "Hard to argue with that". Co-star Shakira then fueled rumours by commenting on the post: "Please collect your boyfriend," and tagged Alima. But it hasn't stopped there. Yesterday, Alima dolled up for a night out at a sushi restaurant. She shared snaps of her dining out at the eatery and a video of her walking across a bridge. Her former villa pal Harrison quickly commented: "Who's recording👀?" His message drove fans wild with many speculating that Ben was filming and out with her last night. One fan wrote: "Alima and Ben are back." A second posted: "Ben and Alima content please." In the villa, viewers were quick to spot Ben and Alima's blossoming connection The Islanders turned up the heat in the villa by stripping off and performing provocative moves in a bid to excite the opposite sex. During the task, one couple's chemistry couldn't be ignored by fans. Ben was most stirred by international business graduate Alima. Eagle-eyed viewers noted the pair having secret chats around the pool. One fan noted: "Alima and Ben could be cute." A second noted: "Alima and Ben seem to have a thing which hasn't been shown until tonight." A third suggested: "Alima and Ben anyone?" After the heart rate challenge, Alima and Ben shared a kiss and began to get to know each other on a deeper level. But Alima's time in the villa was cut short after Conor, with whom she was in a friendship couple, chose to recouple with Billykiss. BOOZY SNOG It comes after Ben enjoyed a kiss with Towie star Dani Imbert behind Andrada Pop's back at a celebrity bash. They were seen whispering in each other's ear, holding hands and then proceeded to enjoy a string of kisses at Broadwick Soho. A source said 'There was instant attraction from the moment they met - they spent two hours kissing at the party it was all very intimate. "It's clearly very much over with Andrada as Dani seemed to be the only thing on his mind." Love Island lad Tommy Bradley also revealed he kissed the same girl on the same night. Outing the cheaters, Ben's now ex Andrada told the Aftersun audience at the finale: 'It was the same girl!' Tommy, who left the villa with Lucy Quinn, held his head in his hands and admitted he acted "disrespectfully", telling Maya how he "messed up" for going behind Lucy's back for the secret snog. The next day it was revealed that Tommy had split from Lucy, who he left the villa with after a shock dumping. Speaking on Aftersun Tommy vowed to stay friends with Lucy. But it sounded like Ben's ex Andrada wasn't keen on keeping in touch. Maya asked what had happened and Andrada revealed: "So we came outside the villa he went exclusive with me, and he was about to meet my family next week. "It took one event where I wasn't there and his head turned." 4 Love Island viewers were quick to spot chemistry between the pair Credit: ITV
