Pedro Pascal's ‘Last of Us' Season 2 return finally answers 1 big question
It wasn't the last of Pedro Pascal.
The actor made his big return to 'The Last of Us' Season 2 in the sixth episode – despite the fact that the seasons's second episode brutally murdered his character, Joel.
He wasn't a zombie or a ghost, but rather, the May 18 episode featured Joel in flashbacks.
This is in line with what series co-creator Craig Mazin told The Post, as he said that even though Joel died, Joel and Ellie 'spend quite a bit of time together in this season…more than people might think.'

Spoilers ahead for the sixth episode of 'The Last of Us' Season 2.
Based on a popular video game of the same name, 'The Last of Us' is set in a dystopian future where society has broken down, there are zombie-like creatures, and gruff smuggler Joel has formed a pseudo father/daughter relationship with teen girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey).
This episode filled in what happened in the five-year gap between Season 1 and Season 2, and answered the question of exactly why Joel and Ellie's relationship soured before his death.
Their father/daughter relationship fell apart because of two main fractures.

The first is that while they're out on patrol, they see that Eugene (Joe Pantoliano) got bitten by an infected, so Joel executes him.
Eugene pleads for Joel to allow him to say goodbye to his wife, Gail (Catherine O'Hara). Instead, Joel kills Eugene and lies to Gail about what happened. Ellie is so furious that she doesn't yell at him in private — rather, she exposes his lie immediately.
Then, Ellie later finds out exactly what happened at the end of Season 1, when Joel slaughtered several people in order to save her.

Ellie is immune to the infection that turns people into zombies – but, as Joel confesses during the episode, if other people used her to make a cure, that would have killed her.
Ellie is outraged that Joel chose to kill people instead of letting her die to make a cure.
'Then I was supposed to die,' she exclaims. 'That was my purpose! My life would have mattered. But you took it from me. You took it from everyone!'
'Yes, and I'll pay the price, because you're gonna turn away from me,' an emotional Joel replies.

With tears in his eyes, Joel adds, 'But if somehow I have a second chance at that moment, I would do it all over again.'
Ellie tells him that's because he's 'selfish,' and Joel replies that it's, 'because I love you.'
He explains that he loves her, 'In a way you can't understand…maybe you never will.'
But, he says, if the day comes in the future when Ellie has a child and feels that type of love, 'well then…I hope you do a little better than me.'
After that emotional confession, Ellie tells Joel: 'I don't think I can forgive you for this. But I would like to try.'
Tragically, she never got the chance. That conversation happened shortly before Joel's death.

In the second episode of Season 2, Joel was killed by the new Season 2 character, Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).
He had previously slain Abby's father during his killing spree to protect Ellie.
So, Abby killed Joel as revenge. She viciously beat him nearly to death with a golf club and then stabbed him in the neck – all while a crying Ellie watched.
Ironically, since Abby slayed Joel as revenge for him killing her dad, this has pushed Ellie into a similar revenge journey.
The end of the episode catches up to Ellie in the present day, continuing her search for Abby and quest to avenge Joel.

Magnolia Pictures Acquires U.S. Rights To ‘It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley,' Amy Berg's Documentary On Late Ethereal-Voiced Musician
EXCLUSIVE: Magnolia Pictures has landed U.S. rights to It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg's portrait of the late musician who developed an adoring fan base before his untimely death at the age of 30. Magnolia plans to release the film theatrically (available in Dolby Atmos) on August 8. The documentary, which enjoys a 100 percent critics approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, will premiere on HBO and stream on HBO Max this winter, as part of the Music Box series created by Bill Simmons. She did share the archive with me back then, and I was blown away by the voicemail messages and the DAT recordings and his candor, and I just kept at it. ‘The White Lotus' Stars Walton Goggins And Aimee Lou Wood Reveal The Truth Behind Instagram ‘Feud'
Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins Rick and Chelsea, the tragic lovers from the third season of HBO's The White Lotus, were fan favorites during the show's run earlier this year. The actors who played them also became the center of much gossip after the season came to a close. This was partly due to comments made by Jason Isaac, who played troubled investment banker Timothy Ratliff, in the third season. The cast lived on-set in Thailand for months during the shoot, and Isaac said that tensions could sometimes run high, noting that there were 'fewer deaths but just as much drama' behind the scenes. Rumors of a split between Walton Goggins, who played Rick, and Aimee Lou Wood, who played Chelsea, reached fever pitch when fans noticed that Goggins had unfollowed his co-star on Instagram. Fandom is always thirsty for this kind of drama, but perhaps especially so for a series like The White Lotus, which is all about scandal, betrayal and the woes of the rich and famous. There was blood in the water, and the sharks came circling. Goggins also didn't join his fellow cast members at the finale event, watching it alone instead, though he was in New York for a late-night appearance at the time. I never commented on these rumors. Tawdry gossip has never been something I feel the need or desire to comment on. Gossip journalism is certainly big business, but it's not my cup of tea. I am happy, however, to report on the outcome. In a lengthy interview with the two co-stars over at Variety, they clear the air and put the rumors to bed once and for all. After a discussion of the infamous SNL sketch that mocked Wood's appearance, and Goggins' regret at posting about it on social media, they clear the air. From the interview: He also addressed the NYT interview in which he refused to answer multiple questions about the supposed feud, saying he wouldn't answer them without Wood present. When Wood is asked about the Instagram unfollowing she replies: Goggins makes it clear that saying farewell to co-stars is just part of his process. When he left the show Justified "I went up to Tim [Olyphant], and I hugged him and I said, 'I love you, and I hope I see you in rooms for the rest of my life. I didn't talk to him for almost two years. I've done that with every single thing that I've done.' He continues: It's all part of his 'catharsis' according to Goggins. He would have done the same thing if he'd been following Olyphant or his The Shield co-star Michael Chiklis on Instagram at the time. Still, during the interview he gets up, grabs his phone and follows Wood on Instagram. 'It's all so ridiculou.
