FDP to equip faculty, research scholars with quantum computing insights
Visakhapatnam: To enhance knowledge and skills of faculty members in quantum computing and enable them to address complex real-world challenges through the design and development of quantum machine learning (QML) algorithms, Andhra University is going to organise a five-day faculty development programme (FDP) on Quantum Computing from August 28. The FDP , titled 'quantum computing insights for academics – concepts, applications and tools', aims to equip faculty members and researchers with foundational, advanced knowledge in the emerging field of quantum computing. Ahead of the poster launch, Andhra University Vice Chancellor GP Raja Sekhar stated that the platform would familiarise faculty members and research scholars with quantum computing applications such as surveillance, healthcare, geology, cyber security, emergency management and remote sensing. Through the FDP, participants will gain substantial knowledge of quantum computing and its potential in solving real-world problems. They will be equipped to design and implement quantum machine learning (QML) algorithms for academic and practical applications. The FDP programme that equips faculty and research scholars with practical insights into quantum computing and quantum machine learning (QML), will continue till September 1. Participants will receive guidance from leading experts, including professors from IITs, NITs, IIITs, scientists from NISER Bhubaneswar, and professionals from various industries.

‘Aarambh': CTSC installation ceremony and IEEE branch launch at YCCE
1 2 3 4 Nagpur: Department of computer technology at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) conducted 'Aarambh', the installation and oath-taking ceremony of the Computer Technology Students' Council (CTSC), in collaboration with the ACM Student Chapter. The event also marked the official launch of the IEEE computer society student branch, a significant step toward enhancing the department's professional and academic outreach. The ceremony was graced by Dr Prabhat Kumar Sharma of VNIT, Dr Kavita Singh (HoD, CT), Prof Shweta Gode, and Prof Kalyani Karule. Appointment letters and badges were presented to the newly selected council members, followed by the oath-taking ceremony for both the core and semi-core teams. In his keynote address, Dr Sharma motivated students to lead with clarity, discipline, and innovation, encouraging them to embrace responsibility and pursue excellence. A key highlight of the event was the teaser release of CompuFest 2k25, the department's highly anticipated annual technical festival, which generated enthusiasm among the audience. Principal Dr UP Waghe guided in making the event a success.

Faculty development programme on ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship' held
Bengaluru: JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), recently concluded a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on 'Innovation and Entrepreneurship' aimed at strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems in higher education institutions. Designed to empower faculty and incubation managers from AICTE-approved institutions, the programme focused on mentoring student innovators and supporting early-stage startups. Over 50 faculty members from across South India participated in the sessions held on JAIN University's Bengaluru campus. Thirteen expert speakers from industry and startups led thematic sessions and hands-on workshops, covering areas such as innovation frameworks, startup strategies, customer discovery, problem validation, and business modelling. Participants were trained in practical tools such as Empathy Mapping, Problem Statement Canvas, Value Proposition Design, and the Build-Measure-Learn loop. Sessions also included insights on intellectual property rights and startup financing. In an interactive segment, startup founders were invited to conduct live pitches and mentor participants.
