Michigan football secures 2026 4-star DL Titan Davis, beating out SEC powerhouse

Michigan football already had one defensive tackle in 2026 committed in Liberty Hill (Tx.) four-star Alister Vallejo pledged to the class when he chose the Wolverines over Notre Dame. But the maize and blue have been hoping for a (literal) big target to come into the fold. But it had some fierce competition from an SEC powerhouse. 2026 St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet four-star Titan Davis has long been between the Wolverines and Alabama, with his only official visits being to Tuscaloosa in May and Ann Arbor this weekend. It appears as if the Crimson Tide knew what was coming as it accepted a commitment from Indianapolis-based three-star DT J.J. Finch, indicating that perhaps Kalen DeBoer wasn't feeling as good about his chances with Davis. Advertisement It turned out to be prescient. Davis commits to the Wolverines Following a solid official visit for Victors Weekend, Davis ended up pulling the trigger joining the maize and blue. Rated the No. 101 player in the country, regardless of position, according to the 247Sports Composite, Davis comes in at 6-foot-4.5, 270 pounds. He is listed as the 13th-best defensive lineman and second-best player in the state of Missouri. He chose Michigan over Alabama (as mentioned), as well as Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Wisconsin, and others. Scouting report and highlights Davis had 46 tackles with 18 for loss and nine sacks in his junior season. Here is the player breakdown from 247Sports' Andrew Ivins: Ascending defensive end with a prototypical frame that could fit into an odd or even front at the next level. Began his prep career playing quarterback before flipping to the other side of the ball and finding instant success in the trenches. Flashes the ability to separate and bypass base blocks with his lateral agility. Not the most destructive defender at this stage, but can find a flat back and shoot his hands to gain extension. Solid get-off frequently gives him an advantage in passing situations. Quick to unleash a bull-rush, but can also rip his way around the corner and has the stride length to finish. Enters senior year believed to be north of 6-foot-4, 265 pounds with adequate length in the arms. Must improve pad level and learn how to bring it every single snap, but appears to be rounding into form as he nearly doubled his production as a junior for Missouri's 6A champs. Projects as a potential multi-year contributor and possible impact player for a College Football Playoff contender. Should offer plenty of alignment flex and could very well end up finding a home on the inside depending on how the body matures. The Wolverines are still targeting five-star edge rushers Carter Meadows and Julian Walker, with both having visited this weekend. Michigan football's Titan Davis commitment for 2026 sparks media, coach reactions

Michigan football recruiting is picking up in a big way, and the Wolverines have been on commit watch for a full 24 hours after head coach Sherrone Moore put out the proverbial bat signal. And some commitments aren't just gargantuan, some might even say they're -- titanic. OK, we'll let ourselves out. Advertisement But it is big news for the maize and blue that they were able to secure the commitment of 2026 St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet four-star defensive lineman Titan Davis over Alabama. Ranked No. 101 overall, Davis is now the second-highest rated pledge in the 2026 class for the Wolverines. Getting a big recruiting win like this, of course, is cause for celebration. Thus, social media exploded with reactions to Davis joining the Michigan football family. Here are some of our favorite reactions. 2026 4-star Edge shuts down his recruitment, explains why he committed to Texas A&M

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has built an incredible foundation heading into this second season at the helm, as he has continued to prove that he is as good, or even a better recruiter compared to former head coach Jimbo Fisher this offseason after landing five elite commitments over the past week in the 2026 recruiting class. Leading into this week, nearly half a dozen of the program's 19 commits have shut down their recruitment, including five-star edge Tristian Givens, who committed to the Aggies on Saturday. This trend started with four-star running back Jonathan Hatton, followed by four-star wide receiver Aaron Gregory, and four-star tight end Caleb Tafua quickly following his lead. Since then, one of the program's earliest commits, four-star edge Jordan Carter, also shut down his future visits. On Monday, fellow four-star edge/linebacker Samu Moala became the next important defender in the cycle to shut things down, as he will sign with the Aggies as soon as the Early Signing period on December 4. Moala has been the subject of several potential rumors over the last couple of weeks, as UCLA and Washington have attempted to flip the versatile prospect. During his recent interview with Rivals recruiting insider Adam Gorney at the Rivals Five-Star event in Indianapolis, Moala explained why he chose to shut down his recruitment and stick with Texas A&M: "Very hard decision, but I committed there because I want to play with the best and play against the best in the SEC" Moala stated. "It felt like home; I went there (College Station) this past weekend, and they made it feel like home, they answered all my questions that needed to be answered, and I'm fully committed." Moala also revealed that staying at edge with the Aggies was a big part of his decision, as UCLA wanted him to play linebacker at the next level. After praising Texas A&M's culture during his official visit, Moala also stated that he is expected to play the Jack position on defense, with an emphasis on rushing the passer and dropping back in coverage to blanket tight ends.
