Usually, when a celeb discovers their partner is cheating, they will go to great lengths to keep the drama hidden from the public eye. However, after a few years, one might decide to open up about the painful experience. Demi Moore allegedly discovered Ashton Kutcher had cheated on her, thanks to a Google Alert:
The relationship: Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher first met in May 2003 during a dinner with mutual friends. As their romance blossomed, many headlines centered on the fact that Moore was 15 years older than the That '70s Show star. However, the press's opinion didn't hinder the couple, who married in September 2005 at her Beverly Hills home.
In the following years, Moore gushed about Kutcher in the press, revealing that her new husband had adjusted well to living with her and the three daughters she shared with ex Bruce Willis. In one interview with V magazine, she stated, "I definitely can't answer for him, but I think it certainly wasn't a difficult transition. Ashton's relationship with his own mother is really wonderful, so it made the transition to being with a woman with daughters something he didn't bat an eye at. It also says a lot about the confidence that he holds within himself as an individual."Kutcher did some gushing of his own in 2009, telling interviewers, "She [Moore] becomes more beautiful to me by the minute, and I don't know what it is. She's got the magic thing."
The discovery: However, the seemingly happy couple split in 2011, with Moore releasing a statement: 'It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton...As a woman, a mother, and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life."
After the interview went public, Kutcher tweeted what many deemed to be a reaction to Moore's bombshell allegations: "I was about to push the button on a really snarky tweet. Then I saw my son, daughter, and wife and I deleted it."
The aftermath: Similar to Moore's relationship with Bruce Willis, she and Kutcher appear to have maintained a supportive relationship, especially regarding coparenting.
In a 2020 interview on WTF with Marc Maron, Kutcher revealed: 'There's no badness. It's all good; we don't hang out. I make a really conscious effort to stay in touch with the girls. It was eight years." He continued, 'I was helping raise teenage girls through their adolescence. I love them. I'm never going to stop loving them and respecting them and honoring them and rooting for them to be successful in whatever they are pursuing."
Britney Spears discovered David Lucado was allegedly cheating on her through paparazzi photos:
The relationship: Britney Spears began dating lawyer David Lucado in 2012. In an appearance several months later on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Spears gushed about the new man in her life: "My friends brought me up to him…and brought me to him just to introduce me to him." The then-32-year-old stated their connection was "instant."
At the time of the interview, the "Womanizer" singer revealed that the couple had been in a "tiffy" (aka argument) the night before her appearance on the show. She joked, "It's his fault, of course. He forgot to call me back for a really long time, but we're fine now."Around the same time, she told Entertainment Tonight, "I'm in love. I like the fact that he's very stubborn, and he's stuck in his ways. He's just a simple man. I adore him. He's really funny, and he's really passionate."
The discovery: However, the relationship came to an end in August 2014, when it was revealed that Spears' father, Jamie, allegedly learned that Lucado had been caught on camera kissing another woman and bought the footage to prevent it from being leaked to press, ensuring that if any publications used it, he could sue them for copyright infringement.
The aftermath: While it appears as though the elder Spears was content to keep the situation hush-hush, Britney seemed more than happy to air her ex's dirty laundry. When the news first broke, she simply tweeted, "Ahhhh the single life!" At a concert, a week later, she told the audience, "So I know you know my boyfriend cheated on me, but the best thing about being cheated on is I get to go on more first dates."
However, it seems the exes were over the worst of it by 2016, as the lawyer publicly supported Britney in her conservatorship battle, "If anyone knew the real Britney, they would know that she would rather be remembered for being the great mother she is rather than the artist she is. And if anyone could see her interactions with her kids, they would know that there is no need for a conservatorship over Britney's personal life."Since that time, Lucado has stayed out of the press, but in 2023, Britney shared a paparazzi photo of the former couple on Instagram, captioning it, "This was 10 years ago … I thought as you got older you shrunk … He is the shortest guy I ever dated .. Kourtney Kardashian allegedly discovered Scott Disick was cheating on her (twice):
The relationship: Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Scott Disick first met in 2006 during a get-together at their mutual friend Joe Francis' Mexico home. In an episode of Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons, Kardashian revealed that she and Disick didn't experience "love at first sight": "I just thought he was so annoying. He was four years younger, he lived in New York, he didn't have a job."
However, the couple was certainly in love by 2007 when Disick was introduced as her boyfriend on the pilot episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. At the time of his introduction, "momager" Kris Jenner was already having doubts about his commitment to her eldest daughter, telling viewers: "I have serious doubts about Scott. I found out he's cheating on Kourtney and as her mom, I want to tell her but I don't know how." When Jenner confronted the then-24-year-old, he established his faithfulness to Kourtney, "I love her to death. I will never do anything to disrespect your daughter."One month later, an episode of KUWTK showed Kourtney and Scott nearly getting married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas before Kris stepped in. "This feels wrong," she told her daughter. "You're rushing it." The couple agreed and called off the wedding.
The discovery: In May 2008, the couple split for the first time after Kourtney allegedly discovered texts on Scott's cellphone from a contact named "my wife." After reading the messages, she believed he had an affair in the Hamptons, "I cannot believe Scott could have cheated on me. I'm sick to my stomach that this could have happened."
The aftermath: A few months later, Disick voluntarily checked himself into rehab. By 2016, fans believed he and Kourtney were teasing the idea of rekindling, but he set the record straight: "In the end, I'm trying to live my life. I'm trying to live it healthy. In August 2018, Kardashian opened up about their coparenting journey, "I think Scott will always be family, and so we really try to have a good relationship for the kids. The relationship: One of the most iconic couples of the '90s, Elizabeth Hurley and Hugh Grant first met in 1987 on the set of the Spanish film Remando al Viento. The pair, who were both trying to make a name for themselves, hit it off and quickly moved into a small apartment together.
When Grant snagged the role of Charles in 1994's Four Weddings and a Funeral, he quickly became a household name and romcom royalty, thereby elevating both his and Hurley's status in Hollywood.
The discovery: Things seemed to be on the up and up for the power couple until June 1995, when Grant was arrested for lewd conduct after being found in a compromising position in a car on Sunset Boulevard with sex worker, Divine Brown. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and attend an AIDS education program.
Just two months after the incident, in August 1995, Hurley sat down for an interview with Barbara Walters to share her side of the story. After discussing their initial meeting and long-term romance, Walters began discussing the scandal, "Was all this a terrible surprise (referring to Grant's arrest)?" To which Hurley simply responded, "Yes."
The aftermath: Surprisingly, Grant and Hurley's relationship withstood the scandal, and the couple didn't call it quits until 2000. The duo have remained good friends, with Grant being named godfather to Hurley's son, Damian.
Ariana Madix found out about Tom Sandoval's alleged affair after he dropped his cellphone:
The relationship: In 2013, Ariana Madix was introduced to viewers in season two of Vanderpump Rules. The then-28-year-old was originally a bartender at Villa Blanca. However, she was later transferred to SUR, Lisa Vanderpump's West Hollywood restaurant, where she became castmates and coworkers with the stars of Vanderpump Rules.
While fans don't know exactly when Sandoval and Madix met, Sandoval was already referring to her as a "friend" in her debut episode. During this time, Sandoval's then-girlfriend, Kristen Doute, claimed he and Madix were having an affair, which they both denied.By February 2014, Sandoval and Madix made their budding relationship "Instagram official" by sharing silly black-and-white photos.
The discovery: In February 2023, Madix set the record straight regarding rumors about her and Sandoval's relationship, telling Page Six, "I think people see my relationship with Tom…as nontraditional in a lot of ways, and they think there's got to be more to it, you know? [Like] I'm in the closet or Tom's in the closet." She added that she and Sandoval had always been "open about" their relationship, claiming that "There's really no other layers."
The aftermath: Five days later, Sandoval released an apology statement to Madix: "I made mistakes, I was selfish, and made reckless decisions that hurt somebody I love. No one deserves to feel that pain so traumatically and publicly. I can only imagine how devastating this has been for Ariana and everyone around us. I feel really horrible about that. My biggest regret is that I dishonored Ariana."
A little over a week later, Madix addressed the incident and thanked the people in her life for their support. "I am so f*cking lucky to have the best support system in the world, and I hope I can repay every single person for the love you have shown me," She added, 'What doesn't kill me better run."At Bravocon in November 2023, Madix revealed that she and Sandoval were still living in their Los Angeles home, but at the time, she was "staying somewhere" else due to her "chaotic" work schedule, which included competing on Dancing with the Stars. The model noted she was "actively trying to change the ownership of the house situation (in 2024, she sued Sandoval over their co-owned home)." She also claimed that they were "not going to be acquaintances or friends."
Sienna Miller allegedly discovered Jude Law was cheating in the tabloids:
The relationship: Sienna Miller and Jude Law first met in 2003 on the set of the rom-com Alfie. In a 2024 appearance on James Corden's This Life of Mine, Miller described that period of her life as "just the most surreal experience," claiming, "I just started working and I was in a big film and in love with this idol and very, very happy, but the flip side of it was so dark so quickly."
The "flip side" was referring to the fact that the couple was plagued by paparazzi (Law was one of Hollywood's biggest heartthrobs at the time, ultimately being crowned "Sexiest Man Alive" in 2004). The now-43-year-old stated, "It was like that. Every single day was like that, and it's so surreal to look back and imagine or even to look back sometimes and see pictures of the amount of people that were there in my life all the time, and I don't know what that — I do know what that does to you...You learn so much about yourself through that experience, but I feel very lucky to kind of still be here, which sounds dramatic." Corden himself recalled seeing Miller in a London bar around that time, being swarmed by paparazzi as she attempted to exit.Despite the constant publicity, the couple's relationship blossomed, and the pair became engaged on Christmas Day 2004.
The discovery: However, the engagement was called off in July 2005 when the Sunday Mirror published an exclusive interview with Daisy Wright, Law's nanny (The actor shared three children with his ex-wife, Sadie Frost). Wright claimed that she and Law had begun an affair while she was caring for his children in New Orleans during the filming of All the King's Men, even alleging that one of his children caught them in bed together. She also read excerpts from her diary, detailing a few of their romantic encounters.
The aftermath: In 2020, Miller opened up to the Daily Beast about the stress of performing while her world was crumbling: "That was one of the most challenging moments I hope I'll ever have to experience. Because with that level of public heartbreak, to have to get out of a bed, let alone stand in front of 800 people every night, it's just the last thing you want to do. It was really hard...I was only 23. But if you get through that, you feel like you can get through anything."
Despite the very public affair, the former couple rekindled their romance in 2009, but officially ended things in 2011. In a 2016 interview with Porter magazine, the Anantomy of a Scandal actor revealed that she harbors no ill will towards her ex, "We don't see each other that much. I care about him enormously." When asked about that period of his life in an October 2024 interview with Variety, Law simply stated: "That time is now over, and I've moved on from it. Laura Dern allegedly discovered Billy Bob Thornton cheated after he eloped with Angelina Jolie:
The relationship: Laura Dern and Billy Bob Thornton first met in 1997 when both actors had minor roles in the groundbreaking episode of Ellen, in which DeGeneres came out as lesbian.
At the time of their meeting, Dern had recently broken up with Jurassic Park costar Jeff Goldblum, and Thornton was in the midst of a divorce with his fourth wife and Playboy model, Pietra Dawn Cherniak.In October 1999, Thornton revealed to Men's Journal that he and Dern were sharing a household, and he was "now happily involved with someone who's my best friend. We have a dog and a yard.'
The discovery: It's safe to say that nearly everyone was surprised in May 2000 when news broke that Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie had married. (The couple met a year prior on the set of the dramedy, Pushing Tin). However, no one was more shocked than Dern, who said she wasn't even aware that her and Thornton's relationship had ended.
The aftermath: In 2001, during an interview with the Guardian, Thornton issued a lukewarm apology to Dern, "Others may say that you left our girl and married someone else." He continued, "But it made me happy and somebody else happy. I'm sorry it caused pain."
Thornton and Jolie were married for three years before calling it quits. He later revealed the split was because "We just had different lifestyles. Hers is a global lifestyle and mine is an agoraphobic lifestyle. So, that's really — that's the only reason we're probably not still together, maybe, because of a different path in life we wanted to take."In autumn 2000, Dern met musician Ben Harper at a concert and began dating. Brandi Glanville found out about Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes' alleged relationship during a double date:
The relationship: Brandi Glanville and Eddie Cibrian first met at a Los Angeles club in the early '90s. At the time, Cibrian was working as an actor, appearing on shows such as Baywatch Nights and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Glanville had recently moved back to the US after modeling overseas for six years.
On New Year's Eve, 1999, Cibrian proposed to Glanville, and the couple were wed in 2001 at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Within the next six years, they welcomed sons, Mason and Jake.
The discovery: In her 2013 memoir, Drinking & Tweeting and other Brandi Blunders, Glanville opened up about the exact moment she realized now-ex-husband Eddie Cibrian was allegedly having an affair with country star LeAnn Rimes.
The aftermath: She recounted that Cibrian later attempted to paint the situation in a wholesome light and "convinced me I was just being paranoid...he told me, 'You see and hear things that don't actually happen.' I wanted to believe him so desperately that I let him convince me that I just made it up in my head."
After multiple reports claimed that Cibrian and Rimes were having an affair, Cibrian released a statement of denial in March 2009: "It is a fabricated story that is using random snapshots as connective tissue to create a scandalous relationship."By July of that year, both he and Rimes had separated from their spouses. A few months later, Glanville officially filed for divorce, which was finalized on September 30, 2010. Rimes and Cibrian were engaged by December 2010, and married at a private California home in April 2011.However, it seems that the exes have let bygones be bygones as Glanville explained on the Hollywood Raw podcast in 2021, "The truth is LeAnn and I get along really well...I think our kids had a lot to do with it because the kids love when we're all together, and it's so obvious. Eva Longoria reportedly discovered Tony Parker was cheating on her through a series of texts:
The relationship: Eva Longoria and former San Antonio Spurs player Tony Parker first met in 2004 when Longoria and her father were invited to meet the Spurs' players in their team pressroom. The Desperate Housewives star, who had spent a summer in Paris, was immediately attracted to Parker's accent, as he had been raised in France.
During an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Longoria revealed that at the time of their initial meeting, Parker had no idea "who" she was: "He was the last person on earth who hadn't seen Desperate Housewives!"Parker commented that he simply "thought she was very beautiful inside and had a good heart." Adding that her love of her family was a green flag for him, "She's very family oriented, and me...I love my family and my friends...She's the same way."The couple wed in a European castle in the summer of 2007.
The discovery: In 2010, Longoria tweeted that she and Parker were going their separate ways: "It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other's happiness."
The aftermath: Parker never admitted to an affair. At the time of the split, he told Le Parisien, a French newspaper, that he had taken "refuge in basketball" and was attempting to 'make sense of things."
Two years later, during an appearance on the Lifetime series, The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet, Longoria divulged more information about the end of her marriage. When asked what advice she would give her 14-year-old self, she simply stated: "Don't marry that basketball player!"She recounted the confrontation that arose from her husband's alleged infidelity: "I really wanted to provide a pillow for him to say and express why [he did it]. Because I really wanted to know why.' I'm not going to judge you. I'm not going to be mad in this moment. I'll be mad later…People say, 'What grace!' And it wasn't that. I really wanted to know, and if you genuinely want to get something out of somebody, you have to not judge." Parker has never publicly addressed Longoria's claims.
Debbie Reynolds allegedly found out Eddie Fisher cheated when he answered Elizabeth Taylor's phone:
The relationship: Debbie Reynolds and Elizabeth Taylor first met when they were teenagers as Reynolds explained in 2015: "I went to MGM when I was around 17, and Liz was there too, but she was already a star. We went to school together on the lot, when she was in between films. I was just a beginner, and she and I were not in any manner alike, but we got along very well because I was in awe of going to school with Elizabeth Taylor."
Just a few years later, in 1955, Hollywood was aflutter when Reynolds married crooner Eddie Fisher. They were portrayed as a fairytale couple, even publicly referring to each other as "my princess" and "my handsome prince." Two years later, the fairytale continued when Fisher's best friend, Mike Todd, married Elizabeth Taylor (Fisher served as best man at their wedding).However, tragedy struck a little over a year later when Todd was tragically killed in a plane crash. Reynolds spoke of the time, "Elizabeth had been recently widowed when her husband, Mike Todd, had died in a plane crash. We had all been good friends...We saw a lot of each other, and I never suspected that she was going to entice my husband away."In the documentary Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes, Taylor opened up about their circumstances: "I was keeping Mike alive by talking about him because Eddie was a great friend of Mike's. That was the only thing we had in common, was Mike."
The discovery: However, both Reynolds' marriage and her friendship with Taylor came crashing down in 1958. In an interview with the Daily Mail, she explained that one lonely night when Fisher was on tour, she decided to call Taylor at her hotel to chat, but was surprised when a familiar male voice answered...the voice belonged to her husband: "Suddenly, a lot of things clicked into place. I could hear her voice asking him who was calling — they were obviously in bed together. I yelled at him, 'Roll over, darling, and let me speak to Elizabeth.'"
The aftermath: Despite the betrayal, Reynolds didn't easily agree to a divorce, stating, "I was very religious, so I didn't believe in divorce, but they laid guilt on me that I was keeping them and true love apart. So, I finally let Eddie off the hook. I told him to go."
Fisher and Taylor were married less than four hours after the divorce was finalized. The duo stayed together for five years, but divorced in 1964 so the Cleopatra star could marry fellow actor Richard Burton. Taylor was later quoted as saying, "I never loved Eddie. I liked him. I felt sorry for him. And I liked talking [to him]. But he was not Mike. As a matter of fact, I don't remember too much about my marriage to him, except it was one big, friggin' awful mistake. I knew it before we were married and didn't know how to get out of it." On a positive note, Reynolds and Taylor's friendship wasn't irreparably soured. Reynolds recalled that seven years after the scandal, the two former friends ran into each other aboard the RMS Queen Elizabeth: "Liz was with Richard Burton and her whole family, all the children and the nannies. I sent a little note to her, saying: 'Let's get together to have dinner. It's silly to carry on this fight now that we've both remarried, and it's all just sort of ridiculous, isn't it?' Katharine McPhee's alleged affair with Matthew Morris was discovered when the pair were photographed kissing:
The relationship: Katharine McPhee first met actor Nick Cokas, 19 years her senior, in 2005, while both were acting in a production of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. The pair started out as friends, but grew closer over the months, McPhee recounted: "We totally fell in love...He just makes things really fun."
Cokas even drove McPhee to her American Idol audition in 2006. When the singer opened up about her bulimia diagnosis a month after her time on the reality competition ended, she credited him, as well as her parents, for her recovery from the eating disorder.In February 2008, the couple married at Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church, with McPhee telling People that the then-43-year-old was "the love of my life...This is a once in a lifetime occasion and everything is just perfect."Cokas was equally enamored, telling interviewers: "Her beauty and the beauty of the moment exceeded anything I could have ever dreamed of. It was incredible."
The discovery: By May 2013, the couple had separated; however, the final blow to their relationship came that October when images were leaked showing McPhee and director Matthew Morris locking lips at a Hollywood restaurant.
The aftermath: In a 2016 interview with Ocean Drive magazine, McPhee revealed that she had "no regrets," about her life choices.
She told the magazine, "I got married really young [she was 23 when she married Cokas], and then divorced, and in the last couple of years, I felt like, 'Wow, this is what I should have been doing when I was 20 instead of planning a wedding.'" She continued, "But I don't have any regrets. All of the choices I made I learned from in a really deep way, I have always been fortunate to have strong influences in my life who have forced me to look at my own choices and my own failures. I think we are all on that journey to have more awareness about who we are as a person and to grow and learn."McPhee has been married to composer David Foster since 2019, whom she first met on American Idol, and the couple shares one son, Rennie.
