New Film '18 MONTHS' Tells True Story of Baby Found in Subway Station 25 Years Ago, Celebrates Foster and Adoptive Families
'18 MONTHS' unravels as a metaphorical pregnancy, with the monumental personal, societal, and legal hurdles Stewart and Mercurio faced in adopting their now almost-25-year-old son, Kevin, reimagined to mirror the milestones of gestation. Set to Christina Perri's stirring love song A Thousand Years — rerecorded as an emblematic duet that creates a thread between the biological and adoptive storylines, the stop-motion film features backgrounds meticulously crafted from actual pages of old pregnancy books, hand-sculpted puppets, 2D animation, CGI, and shadow projections. The credits include archival news footage and family photos.
''18 MONTHS' is more than just our story — it's a challenge to the way the world views adoption,' said Stewart, a social worker and Second Nurture board member. 'Every family's journey is unique,' added Mercurio, his husband of 13 years. 'And love is what makes a family."
'Like Kevin, all children deserve loving homes and a deep sense of belonging,' said Susan Silverman, Second Nurture's Founder and Executive Director. 'We hope '18 MONTHS' inspires more people to support foster and adoptive families in every way they can.'
Tearing Up Outdated Family Archetypes (and Books)
Created by Klick Health and animated by Zombie Studio, with music by Jamute, the six-minute film seeks to ignite broader conversations around adoption, especially for LGBTQ+ families still facing outdated perceptions and legal barriers.
Andrea Bistany, Klick Health Group Creative Director said, 'The art direction in '18 MONTHS' literally illustrates how outdated the 'traditional' family ideal is. By tearing up and repurposing pregnancy books, like Eastman's Expectant Motherhood, that date back to the 1950s, we're conveying a more inclusive, modern definition of family.' Film co-creator and Group Creative Director Amy Fortunato added, 'There is a lingering belief that biological families are the only 'real' families, so the more we challenge this, the more we empower families to form in all their beautiful, varied forms. Pete and Danny's story is an incredible example of how there is no wrong way to build a family. By partnering with Second Nurture on '18 MONTHS,' we hope to spark stigma-free conversations about adoption and support foster and adoptive families across the country.'

CPK's Not-So-Secret, Pizza-Inspired Baked Mac ‘N' Cheese is Official (For Now)
COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), the iconic restaurant brand that revolutionized pizza, is officially bringing its most buzzed-about, pizza-inspired 'secret menu' into the spotlight. Starting today, CPK's craveable Baked Mac 'N' Cheese lineup is available nationwide for dine-in guests, but only for a limited-time. Earlier this year, CPK quietly introduced the new line of Mac 'N' Cheese for takeout only, featuring 'noodle-ized' versions of every pizza on the menu. After a tongue-in-cheek social campaign in which a rogue intern leaked the menu, fans caught on and started asking for the dishes in the restaurant. "Something magical happens when you take our most beloved pizzas and reimagine them through the lens of comfort food," said Paul Pszybylski, VP of Culinary Innovation at CPK. 'With our new Baked Mac 'N' Cheese lineup, we're not only expressing pizza flavors in a new way, we're also glowing up our iconic Mac 'N' Cheese, which so many of our guests grew up eating.' Also spicing up the menu is the return of last summer's hottest (or sweetest?) pizza, CPK's Nashville-Style Hot Honey Pizza. This fan-favorite is the perfect mash up of hot honey pizza and Nashville hot chicken, featuring crispy hand-battered chicken with spicy cayenne seasoning, fresh Mozzarella, housemade ranchito sauce, dill pickle slices and a fiery drizzle of Mike's Hot Honey® – Extra Hot. To further respond to guest demand, CPK is introducing spiked versions of its longtime popular mocktails. The Strawberry Mango Cooler features fresh strawberries blended with Fresca and vibrant flavors of mango, guava and a splash of ginger, while the Cucumber Reviver mixes freshly puréed pineapple and cucumber with torn mint and agave sour, topped with sparkling water. Both beverages are now available with a choice of Tito's Vodka, Bacardi Rum or Bombay Sapphire Gin for guests to choose their own refreshing adventure. The new Mac 'N' Cheese lineup is based on the brand's best-selling pizzas. The five varieties steal the pizza toppings and replace the crust with CPK's signature spiral Mac 'N' Cheese, all baked in its hearth oven: BBQ Chicken Baked Mac 'N' Cheese – The OG legend since 1985, now in creamy, cheesy form with CPK's iconic BBQ sauce, grilled chicken, smoked Gouda and that signature cilantro finish. Burnt Ends BBQ Baked Mac 'N' Cheese – Smoky brisket burnt ends meets molten cheese perfection, crowned with tangy pickled red onions for the ultimate flavor bomb. Carne Asada Baked Mac 'N' Cheese – Charred marinated steak meets cilantro pest magic, with roasted salsa verde that'll make you question everything you thought you knew about comfort food. Five-Cheese Baked Mac 'N' Cheese – Pure indulgence with Mozzarella, Monterey Jack, smoked Gouda and Romano creating the ultimate cheese lover's dream. Wild Mushroom Baked Mac 'N' Cheese – Earthy cremini mushrooms and three premium cheeses create an umami explosion that's anything but ordinary. CPK's new Baked Mac 'N' Cheese lineup, Nashville-Style Hot Honey Pizza and spiked beverages are available at all participating locations nationwide. Stacked end to end, that many apples would stretch across nearly 5,780 miles, or from Los Angeles to New York City and back again. With more than 400,000 apple trees that produced over 13 million apples in 2024 alone, Ferguson's Family of Farms is making an impact far beyond the harvest; they're contributing to a healthier planet by generating enough oxygen each year to support the breathing needs of over 15,000 people (not counting the health benefits of actually eating an apple a day!). Beyond making a positive environmental impact, Ferguson's continues to expand the experiences that make fall unforgettable for families near and far. As more consumers seek outdoor getaways and a break from city life, Ferguson's Minnesota Harvest offers the perfect escape. New this year is an interactive paintball gallery and an expanded lineup of food and desserts, giving families even more ways to enjoy the season together. 'We're on track to welcome our two-millionth visitor this fall, and that milestone speaks to the powerful connection families feel when they visit our farms,' said Andy Ferguson, co-owner of Ferguson's Orchards. 'We've worked hard to lead the way in agritourism by constantly innovating and creating unforgettable fall experiences. Visitors can also explore the creative 'Farm to Tap' corn maze, 1.5 miles of pathways that trace the journey of an apple from the orchard to the viral Apple Cider Slushie. For a complete list of attractions, head to A Fresh Take on Fall Flavors After working up an appetite exploring the orchard, guests will find plenty of delicious ways to refuel. Minnesota Harvest is expanding its culinary offerings like never before. New this year: an enhanced food and dessert lineup featuring fresh pizzas (now with a gluten-free option), indulgent cider floats, and apple-inspired sundaes sure to delight all ages. Culinary enthusiasts and wine lovers alike will want to stop by the Country Store and multiple cider bars onsite, where seasonal flavors take center stage. Guests can enjoy a mouthwatering array of freshly baked pies, pastries, and, of course, Ferguson's famous apple cider donuts. The Country Store also offers a wide selection of locally made gifts, crafts, and fresh-picked apples—including beloved Honeycrisp and SweeTango varieties. Visitors can 'bar-hop' through multiple bars across the farm, sipping on local hard cider flights, tasty brews, and the fan-favorite apple cider slushies made to order (and even topped with a fresh apple cider donut!). New this fall: Ferguson Apple Wine, a crisp, orchard-grown varietal that captures the essence of the harvest in every sip. Ferguson's Minnesota Harvest is located less than half an hour south of the metropolitan Twin Cities. Most recently, Minnesota Harvest has been named 2024's 'Best Apple Orchard'' and 'Best Fall Destination' in Minnesota by the Star Tribune, and one of the top orchards nationwide by Wide Open Country.
