Mark Williams shows off new car weeks after banking £200k at World Championship

Snooker ace Mark Williams has shown off how he might splash out some of his winnings after a stellar run to the World Snooker Championship final.
The 50 year old Welshman edged past 'Class of '92' peer John Higgins in a thrilling quarter-final and then overcame Judd Trump to book his spot in the final. Williams, the oldest finalist at the Crucible, has impressively reached the championship match across four separate decades.
Despite losing 18-12 to the up-and-coming Zhao Xintong in the final, 'The Welsh Potting Machine' pocketed a cool £200,000 as runner-up, and he's not been shy about flaunting how he's previously spent his hefty snooker earnings.
On X, Williams shared snaps of his sleek black Hummer, captioning it: "My beast is nearly ready. @RonSkinners doing all the work to make it mint. #thisthingdoesglllnspermile."
Even though he bagged a hefty cheque at the recent World Championship, Williams clarified that the Hummer was actually purchased before the event. Hailing from Cwm, the snooker legend acknowledged that the vehicle copes well with the rugged Welsh landscape, reports Wales Online.
Not only does Williams have a Hummer, but he also owns a Tesla and humorously remarked: "I got one saving the planet and the other killing it."
His passion for motors is clear, highlighted by his choice to feature a used car dealership in his social media header.
Mark Williams, with over £8 million in prize money from his successful career, now stands third in the rankings after his impressive championship run. The Welsh wizard spoke to BBC with pride about his performance at the Crucible.
"It's been a brilliant tournament for me. The support I've had for the past two weeks has been unbelievable," Williams expressed to BBC after the final. "But what a potter Zhao is.
"I'm glad I'll be too old when he's dominating the game. I've got nothing but admiration for what he's done, coming through the qualifiers. He hasn't played for two years, bashed everybody up. There's a new superstar of the game."
He went on: "I'm still playing quite good stuff, even though my eyesight is a bit blurry. The reception I've had all week... but tonight was something special. When I was stood on the steps and they were all on their feet - it brought a tear to the eye. But the night belongs to Zhao and congratulations."
Keen to compete at the World Seniors Championship next year, Williams reminisced about winning the title ten years ago, yet confessed hesitations about his upcoming eye surgery, which could affect his career trajectory.
"I have been reading up and talking to people who have had it done and I've got to be honest, it is putting me off a bit," Williams mentioned. "I've got a big decision to make.
"A couple of people I have spoken to, especially Anthony Hamilton at length, have said it is no good under the lights and it has ruined his career. It has sort of put me under pressure. After this is finished, it is something I am going to have to look more into."

Cesc Fabregas says he believes in ‘long-term' Como project amid links to Inter

Cesc Fabregas appeared to commit his future to Como amidst reports linking him with Inter Milan, stating he believes in the 'long-term project' at last season's Serie A newcomers. The former Arsenal and Spain midfielder guided the team to an impressive 10th-place finish in their first top-flight campaign for 21 years helped by a club-record six-match winning run between April and May. A first season in senior management for the 38-year-old ended with his reputation as a head coach significantly raised, reportedly catching the eye of Inter who are without a manager after Simone Inzaghi departed this week in the aftermath of Saturday's 5-0 Champions League final loss to Paris St Germain. Cesc Fabregas played for Chelsea and Arsenal in the Premier League (John Walton/PA) 'I really believe in the Como project,' Fabregas said at the SXSW event taking place in London, as reported by La Gazzetta della Sport. 'I started with this club because I was thinking about a long-term project. I don't want to finish my career at a club where there's a project for one or two years and then everything ends.' Fabregas, who is a minority shareholder of the club, joined Como as a player in 2022 and played out the final year of his career with the club in Serie B. After retiring the following summer, he joined the coaching staff, briefly taking charge of the first team as caretaker after boss Moreno Longo was sacked. Welsh coach Osian Roberts took charge for the remainder of the promotion-winning season while Fabregas completed his UEFA coaching qualifications, with the World Cup and Champions League-winner taking over last summer. 'I really believe in Como's long-term project,' he said. 'I arrived here as a player and I'm very, very happy because I get to work in the way that I want. We have the same goals and the same ambition. 'The President allows me to work the way I want, the way I see things. Fortunately, we share the same vision and have the same goal, which is to go as far as possible. 'We've become a really good team together, in a small town, in a small club but with big, very big ambitions for the future.' Inter meanwhile have signed Croatia international Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb. The midfielder, who has seven international caps, played last season on loan at Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.
