We have witnessed several actors launching their kids in the film industry to help them build a career in the same profession. However, renowned Tamil actor Krishnamurthy Narayanan's son broke all the norms and carved an identity of his own. Instead of following his father's footsteps, he pursued an entirely different field and garnered success.
Krishnamurthy, known by his stage name Chinni Jayanth, is one of the most popular Tamil stars, known for his comedy roles in 80s films opposite Rajnikanth. His son Shrutanjaya Narayanan was an active member in the cultural society, took part in plays and other events as well. He developed interest in theatre and loved to explore his creative side.
However, his parents wanted to him to continue his education as he excelled in academics. After school, he went on to pursue graduation from the College of Engineering, Guindy. Later, he pursued Master's from Ashoka University.

Chief Minister Stalin presents awards to Tamil scholars at Kamban Vizha 2025
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday said literary events such as Kamban Vizha should not only highlight the richness and glory of Tamil literature but also nurture that literary sensibility among the younger generation. Speaking at Kamban Vizha 2025 organised by the Chennai Kamban Kazhagam, Mr. Stalin said: 'In his poems, Kambar stressed the need for social harmony and unity. Today, Tamil Nadu takes the lead in terms of both social and economic growth indicators, as envisioned by Kambar.' He said the Dravidian movement viewed the Kamba Ramayana from a different perspective, praising the work for its poetry and the richness of its Tamil. He also said that during the tenure of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai, a statue of Kambar was installed near Marina beach, and recalled the participation of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in Kamban Vizha held in Karaikudi in 1969 and in Chennai in 1999. He also commended the efforts of S. Jagathrakshakan, Lok Sabha Member and president of the Chennai Kamban Kazhagam, in propagating the works of the poet. The Chief Minister released the Kamban Kalai Kalanjiyam book and presented the Kavi Chakravarthi Kambar Award, instituted by the Azhwargal Aaivu Maiyam, to Tamil poet and lyricist Vairamuthu, and the Iyattramizh Arignar Award of the Kamban Kazhagam to Tamil scholars T. Gnanasundaram, Pazha. Pazhaniappan, Saradga Nambi Arooran, Suki Sivam and Ilankai Jeyaraj, and the Kambar Kalainaya Chelvar Award to film director S.P. Muthuraman. Ministers of the Tamil Nadu government, MPs, MLAs, and Tamil scholars were among others present.

Language transcends borders, say writers at Book Brahma Literature Festival in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: At a time when one is often caught in linguistic debates, several South Indian writers — including those who write in languages different from their mother tongue — came together at Book Brahma Literature Festival Friday, stressing that language transcends borders. Tamil novelist Carlos Tamilavan illustrated this idea through his own journey: "I am from Nanjilnadu in southern Tamil Nadu. Though I write in Tamil, my language is neither proper Tamil nor Malayalam. I did my MA in Tamil from Trivandrum, and now I teach Tamil in Bengaluru to students whose medium is Kannada." Kannada writer Jayant Kaikini, whose mother tongue is Konkani, echoed the sentiment, calling language a unifying force. "Language is a means to bring people together, not to keep for oneself. If I'm alone, there's no need for a language. In literature, the reader is an anonymous person to whom we are talking. Language means a society; it means the human world," he said. "I'm using my multi-linguality for ambiguity, not for clarity," he remarked, suggesting that the richness of literature lies in its capacity to hold multiple meanings and invite varied interpretations. Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar winner Latshmihar pointed to the accessibility of short forms in bridging linguistic divides. "I write short forms because now we are in the era of reels and short videos. Moreover, because my works are short, they were easily translated into Kannada, Hindi and Telugu," he said. In an earlier session, literary agent Kanishka Gupta said Indian language books are not translated into English as frequently as works from other foreign languages, largely due to commercial considerations. "At the end of the day, it's business," Gupta said during a panel discussion titled, Beyond Booker: Tales that Travel and the Future of Indian Stories. He noted foreign publishers often prioritise market potential over cultural value when selecting Indian works for translation. The panel featured Kannada novelist Banu Mushtaq, who won the Booker Prize for Heart Lamp, an English translation of her Kannada works by Deepa Bhasthi. Mushtaq spoke about the challenges of making Indian stories resonate with Western readers. Recalling the doubts she faced before her win, she said, "I imagined hundreds of times that I am going to get this prize," but many had tried to convince her otherwise. Bhasthi said her approach to translation was rooted in storytelling rather than awards. "I can't write for prizes... if it wins an award, that's amazing, but that's not the point at all," she said.
